Hi Ed002, hope you are well. Just wondering if you have any insight to future transfer targets? sorry if you have already done this. Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Possible Departures:

Fraser Forster (G) Celtic were keen - but it is unclear now
Jack Rose (G) Released
Cedric Soares (RB) Moved to Arsenal
Ryan Bertrand (LWB) Should sign a new contract and stay
Jannik Vestergaard (CB) Leicester have asked after a price for Vestergaard and Southampton are after recruiting a reasonably priced centre back. They had set their heart on a younger player of which much is expected but have been knocked back in an approach - and options become thinner on the ground in January when clubs do not have replacements lined up. This would add credence to the suggestion that they are considering Vestergaard as Southampton are willing to let him go.
Maya Yoshida (CB) Released
Oriol Romeu (DM) wanted by Celta Vigo but I cannot see they will be able to afford him. Southampton may be open to a summer sale.
Mario Lemina (CB) Galatasaray, Besisktas and Werder Bremen are all keen.
Harrison Reed (CM/DM) Available.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (CM) Moved to Spurs.
Sofiane Boufal (LW) Celta Vigo want another loan and Southampton may be open if there was an obligation to buy him in the summer - but finances may be an issue. Milan have enquired after his availability, but no more.
Marcus Barnes (F) Released

Players of interest:

Robbie Mutch (G)
Kyle Walker-Peters (RB) Signed from Spurs
Bartosz Bereszynski (RB) May not be interested in providing cover
Aaron Hickey (LB) Hearts player who is attracting interest from the Premier League and is of an age where he could become Home Grown. Crystal Palace, Southampton, Manchester City, Everton and Newcastle have shown some interest. Only needed if Ryan Bertrand leaves - so unlikely.

Martin Hinteregger (CB) The Southampton manager has explicitly requested the club try to recruit Hinteregger.}
Mohammed Salisu (CB) Transfer completed to Southampton.
Omar Colley (CB) A Plan B to MH.

Weston McKennie (CM/DM) wants to play in the Premier League and watched by Brighton, Everton and Crystal Palace, but the smarter scouts should have noticed that Schalke have a far better midfield player in Suat Serder which is where the efforts should be going. Southampton and Newcastle have a declared interest. Hertha Berlin has a declared interest and plenty of money. McKennie would be an option to replace Douglas Luiz if he were to leave Aston VIlla. Southampton have met with Schalke as they see McKennie as a replacement for Pierre-Emile Hojberg.
Morgan Sanson (CM) very, veryunlikely
Ozan Tufan (CM) Southampton, Everton, Augsburg, Crystal Palace, Freiberg, Cologne and Leicester have apparently enquired after his availability.
Jacob Maddox (AM) plan was to join Southampton on a permanent basis but moved elsewhere.
Yari Verschaeren (AM) interesting Lille and Southampton, there may be efforts to seek a move for fear of Anderlecht facing sanctions. Unlikely.
Ben Chrisene (M) opted for Aston Villa.
Eberechi Eze (RW) very, very unlikely
Darwin Nunez (S) may be too expensive at €20M with lots of interest from elsewhere.}

1.) 24 Aug 2020 14:37:16
WOW thank you very much Ed002 :)

2.) 24 Aug 2020 15:57:14
Thanks Ed, absolute legend! Interesting to see we are still scouting in the same circles as Newcastle, Villa, Everton. They tend to overpay and reap little reward so hopefully we choose wisely and don’t get suckered in by money and competition.

{Ed002's Note - Tough times financially. And rememnber Gao Jisheng is open to selling up to the full 80% of his holding in Southampton. If he cannot sell it all he would be happy to sit on just under 30% to see if any improvement can be found with a new investor. This has been the situation since the Spring of 2019.}

3.) 25 Aug 2020 15:56:23
Thank you for this Ed, it’s really helpful. Be great to recruit 2/ 3 players from that list but with Gao’s position I’m not optimistic.

31 Jan 2020 16:10:23
Yoshida to Sampdoria coming out of Italy.

1.) 31 Jan 2020 19:41:59
Seems like this could happen. I would rather he stayed but good luck to him if he does move.

31 Jan 2020 08:46:25
Ed02 do you know of any possible late signings for us today? i'm thinking our business is probably done now but there is always hope.

{Ed002's Note - I think the departure of CS will probably be the end of it Ben.}

1.) 31 Jan 2020 11:47:34
OK Mate thanks, keep up the great work.

15 Jan 2020 13:43:45
Marin Pongracic has signed for Wolfsburgh.

1.) 15 Jan 2020 13:51:17
Wolfsburg! 4.5 years, I really hope we get a decent CB in. Starting to think because we have had a good run of late this area is going to be over looked again. I really hope not, we have been crying out for a decent CB since Jose Fonte.

2.) 15 Jan 2020 15:57:12
According to ssn . saints are only interested in full backs . which is a shame.

3.) 16 Jan 2020 13:43:46
Not even sure that we'll get any full backs in with Valery coming back from injury and Vokins stepping up.

4.) 17 Jan 2020 06:28:13
We might have to if Bertie leaves. Taking it with a pinch of salt though.

5.) 17 Jan 2020 12:24:51
I don't think that Vokins is ready to make the LB spot his own yet so hopefully Bertie stays.

6.) 17 Jan 2020 19:19:25
Volkins definitely isn't ready for the step up. Don't even rate him much to be honest. Mcqueen or another lb.

03 Jul 2019 11:36:16

I'm not sure I believe this one. We currently have so many strikers on the books. Would be great if it was true though. Do Edd's have any info? Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Not as far as I know Ben.}

1.) 03 Jul 2019 16:26:51
Hi guys

I have been watching events at Sfc with great excitement and a real sense of anticipation for the coming season with Che Adams and Djenepo and I respect eds comments 're Andre Silva but with Austin going and if there is genuine interest in Carillo then maybe this rumour has validity. I have been really impressed with what is happening at Sfc with a great manager and support team and backing by the owner I can genuinely say I am really looking forward to this season which is the first. I hope season ticket sales are going well, let's pack St Mary's and turn it back in the fortress that it once was. coys!

2.) 04 Jul 2019 02:14:03
I think we would have to offload Austin, Carillo and Gallagher as well as probably sending Obafemi on loan to a championship club before we looked at another striker. Much more likely that Ralph is looking at Obafemi and Long as back up to Adams and Ings along with using Redmond in that forward role on occasions.

3.) 04 Jul 2019 10:13:31
Agree withj all the above guys. Thanks Ed002 (Thumbs up)

Just a thought, will probably get shot down here but we need a central defeder with some experiance in the Prem, apprently we tried to get Coady and missed out on that one but what about Vestergaard? never gets played at Leicester, had good experiance and left as probably our best defender at the time. Maybe we could offer McCarthy in exchange?

1.) 10 Aug 2022 07:18:28
Although I am pleased that the Player is receiving improvement tuition I cannot comprehend Ralph’s thinking (although nothing really surprises me these days) by allowing Will Smallbone to leave on loan when at 22years of age and just recognised as one of the “ shining lights” of the pre-season.Can we assume that by staying would have created a headache for Ralph with Will’s form threatening to eclipse that of JWP who Ralph would never consider dropping at any cost. However ( (unlikely —but should Ralph still be employed by SFC when Will Smallbone returns to St. Mary’s he may find himself played at LEFT BACK!

2.) 10 Aug 2022 09:35:23
Sadly I think Ralph has burnt his bridges with Vestergaard. He was more than happy to go.

If he could be tempted back, I’d take that, but surely there are other experienced CBs out there.

04 Jul 2022 10:33:46
What is going on with the kit designs. Come on Umbro, you can do better than that. The away kit is awful. I'm praying the 3rd kit saves us

1.) 04 Jul 2022 12:26:51
Sadly your prayers were not answered

2.) 04 Jul 2022 14:35:19
Really @gps51? have they released the 3rd kit?

3.) 04 Jul 2022 16:10:48
Sorry night worker woke up and saw the kit . it is the away kit my sleepy eyes sorry saint ben

4.) 04 Jul 2022 19:46:43
I think the away colours will certainly challenge the song writers in the terraces … “come on you err ….”

5.) 05 Jul 2022 11:40:22
Loved the green strip from about 16/17 I think it was which played off on the tree in our logo, but our waves are terrible and I hate the shirt. Maybe the third kit will be yellow hoops based on our halo ??‍♂️

6.) 05 Jul 2022 13:35:56
LOL no worries @gps51 :)

7.) 05 Jul 2022 20:07:24
They’d look better in bibs!

8.) 06 Jul 2022 19:04:47
SaintGGsy 3rd is apparently dark green and beige featuring some sort of spitfire tribute

9.) 07 Jul 2022 15:35:11
@SaintySaintSaint LOL, would be better than the other 2 kits

14 Aug 2021 18:07:03
Positives: Armstrong and livramento. But a bad start, Man Utd next. I think we still need a central defender, Stephen's is backup at best and I feel we still need someone in the midfield that can create/ score as we struggle in midfield for me. The ox would have been amazing but that is never going to happen. I'm praying to the old gods and the new in the hope that we get 2 more in but I'm realistic.

1.) 14 Aug 2021 19:34:43
Personally I think we need a new goalkeeper! McCarthy not PL standard.

2.) 15 Aug 2021 08:43:33
I agree with McCarthy, Forster for me is better and should be number 1.

3.) 15 Aug 2021 15:07:51
I can cope with not signing another defender but we need to ensure we create going forward. I agree with all the posts Walcott and Djenepo off the bench fine but KWP and Armstrong should have started. Unless Ralph is a genius and is showing a potential target he is happy to play youth immediately so come and join us and you will play straight away? Maybe? Or he just got it wrong today!

4.) 15 Aug 2021 15:16:46
I agree that Mccarthy is not good enough but unfortunately I don't think that Forster is any better.

5.) 15 Aug 2021 15:07:51

30 Sep 2020 10:56:49
WOW, Ross Barkley has just signed for Villa on loan! Grealish and Barkley in the middle of the park, that's decent. Wish we had gone in for him. I just hope that leaves us free to signe Loftus Cheek as Villa were reportedly also in for him.

1.) 30 Sep 2020 11:36:16
I don’t think they can sign 2 players from the same team on loan. RLC would be a great addition for us. Also talk of Dallo from Brest? It will all go down to the wire I fear.

2.) 30 Sep 2020 17:24:41
RLC and Diallo would be lovely, though Joey Veerman of Heerenveen apparently you looks to be moving ahead. Diallo for €15m and RLC on a year loan would suit me - RLC another Armstrong attacking box to box mid, Diallo to replace Hojbjerg.

3.) 30 Sep 2020 21:05:40
Hopefully we'll be a bit quicker off the mark otherwise we'll miss out again like we did with Sangare. RLC an Diallo would make us more competitive.

4.) 01 Oct 2020 07:40:58
Teejaysaint, I believe the reason we didn’t get Sangare was because of a work permit issue otherwise he would have signed for us.

5.) 01 Oct 2020 11:54:38
Thanks for that saint_ben_basingstoke. I was told that we were dragging our heels over the signing.

{Ed002's Note - Ibrahima Diallo is of interest but a suitable offer needs to be made before Friday night according to Brest. For Sangare there was interest but no firm offer.}

6.) 02 Oct 2020 08:41:58
Saints miss out on Sangare

30 Jan 2020 17:12:01
I have to say slightly disappointed crystal palace are probably going to win the race for Jarrod Bowen, I know we are concentrating more on defence but what a player Bowen is and a snip at 16 million. I bet he is worth triple that by next season.

1.) 30 Jan 2020 21:00:32
Apparently West Ham have come in with a late bid.

2.) 31 Jan 2020 08:42:05
Yes I've seen that Teejaysaint, this really should be the sort of player we go in for at that price, like Madison these type of players will have massive sell on value (not that I like us selling our best players) we could sell lamina and Elyounoussi at reduce prices to cover the cost, oh well.

I listened to it and there was some very vaild points rasied but I felt we didn't seem to get actual answers to the whole question being asked. One guy mentioned not having any players in the squad that are leaders or commanding types.

I have said for many years we need a midfielder that would shout at the rest of the team when needed, take the bull by the horns when, a commanding character like a Roy Keane for example. We seem to have a squad full of quite types and our scouting has been like that for years. We need some players that are not afraid to shout out at the rest of the team, especially when we have so many youngsters being intergrated into the side.

There wer at least 3 questions about playing players out of posistion that were not really answered by Ralph, the only one he answered was the one about Djnepo at left wing back because of injury he doesn't have many options. He could have still play KWP at left wing back. But what about all the other players? Valerie, Djnepo, Armstrong. no answers to those.

What really annoyed me though was when Martin Semmens suggested that the fans need to get behind the team more! and if we are not shouting for the team how can we expect the players to try hard.

Are you Joking mate! 1:) we have bloody amazing fans that shout for the team when we are getting dicked 0 - 9 at home! and 2:) those players are getting paid stupid ammounts of money that us as supporters could only dream of! Even if we are sat there in silence we expect the players to put everything into every game and respect the shirt they are wearing!

For me Semmens got that one totally wrong and he made himself look an idiot, there where a few rumblings in the crowd when he made that statement!

@SaintKenny I say 6 games because we have new owners that have invested and they are going to give Ralph a chance with new coaches and players and I suspect that if after 6 or so games we haven’t managed to get a single point on the board they will look to not totally waste the investment and release Ralph of his job to the joy of many Saints supporters. 6 games is just an educated guess really

A fan asked the panel in the fans forum this question last night about the Che rumours, Semmens asked where he heard the rumours from and the fan saind twitter and the panel started laughing. Semmens stated that the Che rumours are rubbish. He isn't going anywhere apparently.

Even more then when we got relegated in 2005? and then the points deduction? I hated our time under pellegrino and hughes, god awful.

I think if we can get a couple more faces through the door we could be good. Striker, winger and a central defender. that is the minimum and for Ralph to stop playing players out of posistion. IF that happens we might have a chance at winning some games
