Vokins going on loan to Sunderland? Surely he wouldn't go unless we have someone else lined up already? Maitland-Niles? Somebody else?

Manny561

1.) 31 Jan 2021 08:36:46
I really don't get it. AMN is right footed and not what we need.

Especially after lasts nights potential injuries to Diallo and Walcott.

It's nice to see we have youth coming through, but I feel this is to much at once.

Call me absolutely bonkers but we have both of those positions covered with guys on loan. Lemina and Elouynossi.

Elouynossi is doing well, albeit in Scottish league, but we've had some great players from that league.

Lemina, personally I rate him and could at least do a job until the end of the season.

If they're saying we have no money for players, then surely this is an option, or a case of Ralph being very stubborn.

Heard we are interested in Ajer from Celtic. Ball playing centre half. Do we need that? Could he maybe do a job as a defensive midfielder protecting the back line? Thoughts?

Manny561

1.) 03 Sep 2020 19:09:11
If it were Hinteregger I would understand as he is undoubted quality. Ajer we don’t need and I’d rather just sign an out and out CM.

2.) 03 Sep 2020 23:50:51
I've watched Ajer a few times and he's been very ordinary. I certainly don't think he'd add much to our squad. Would love for Hinteregger to join us but I think that the fee might be too high.

I see Stoke are willing to let Butland go for a knock down price. He was going to be England No1 before Pickford, but relegation and form stopped this.

Worth a punt?

Manny561

1.) 13 Aug 2020 15:49:28
Haven't we been there with Forster?

2.) 13 Aug 2020 16:04:05
True.

To be honest, I’m not sure about any of the GKs we have currently.

What’s your thoughts?

3.) 13 Aug 2020 16:53:20
I think that we'll stick with McCarthy as first choice. Not sure what's happening re. Forster. I don't think that Gunn has progressed since he's been with us but he'll probably still be No.2 next season. A keeper is only as good as the defence allows so hopefully our defence steps up and makes the keepers job a little easier.

What about Wilshire on a free? Apparently been fit for the last 8 months!?

Manny561

1.) 05 Oct 2020 21:11:47
I would take him on a pay as you play contract. Had enough players getting high wages whilst almost living in the treatment room.

2.) 06 Oct 2020 07:38:32
I think after his time at West Ham, we'd struggle to get him on a 'play to play' contract. Supposedly he's been fit for 8 months and still couldn't make it into the West Ham squad. That tells me he's surely not good enough.

3.) 06 Oct 2020 08:51:04
Maybe he just wasn’t ‘fancied’ by Moyes.

I fully agree with the pay when you play contract. Sound business sense. But. If he given a chance and was to return to any where near where he was, he would be a great addition to the squad.

4.) 06 Oct 2020 12:53:33
I’d take Jack Wilshere and Danny Welbeck I’m free transfers right now. Give it a go!

Theo! Theo! Theo!

Good luck Saints.

Poch to Man Utd anyone?

Manny561

1.) 04 Oct 2020 22:35:38
As a centre-back? Probably wouldn’t be any worse than the current lot.

2.) 06 Oct 2020 08:53:27
Just read that contact has been made with Poch by Man Utd. I feel that would be a great appointment.

3.) 06 Oct 2020 12:56:29
If they were to let OGS go, surely a move for Pochettino is on the cards at Old Trafford. I think Solskjaer has time and can still do a good job, but you’d feel the lure towards Poch as being pretty exciting

Nobody else springs to mind. Bruce or Dyche aside.

4.) 07 Oct 2020 09:11:06
For me Poch would be the manager to draw the big players in at Man Utd. OGS is a good manager, but doesn't have that magic that players are attracted to. Look at Ancelotti at Everton. Would Silva or Martinez be able to get in Allan and Rodriquez? Players are wary of Utd, not sure what’s going on there. Hence a quiet window for them. Poch would give Utd back it’s swagger.

{Ed047's Note - OGS is a pretty poor manager, failed at his previous premiership job and only achieved anything in Norway.

He was fine as an interim but United should have taken the opportunity to appointment a quality manager when they had the chance.

They seem to be snapping up a lot of youngsters as the lure for the big players is no longer there again yet, unless it’s just money they are after.

Jadon Sancho actually wanted to go to Chelsea. That aside I think United reached a point where they weren’t going to be mugged off for the money involved, especially in the current situation.

Very impressed with last nights performance. Romeu was MoM, so calm and tidy. Vestergaard also came in and played really well. Dare I say, we looked better without Redmond and Stephens?

Manny561

1.) 27 Sep 2020 14:48:16
Absolutely. Still think 3-5-2 is an option going forwards with Salisu Bednarek and Vestergaard at the back, but since Djenepo has come in we’ve just had that extra dimension and he doesn’t deserve to be dropped when Redmond regains fitness.

In transfer news, the latest gossip is Ryan Sessegnon, Loftus-Cheek and a host of various midfielders/ forwards. By the sounds of things Ralph expects at least 2 more signings but is hoping for 3.

Loved his passion at FT. He’s definitely the man for us, just please god back him board.

23 Sep 2020 19:19:53
Would Chris Smalling be worth a punt for £18m.

Manny561

1.) 24 Sep 2020 14:54:39
Don’t think it’s worth spending that kind of money and wages on someone who wouldn’t be our best CB, or even a guaranteed starter.

2.) 24 Sep 2020 15:18:59
I think yes. Play alongside bednarek and we would have a solid partnership plus leadership. He had a good season last year and has played well in the prem so could adapt back quickly.

3.) 25 Sep 2020 09:49:59
Salisu?

16 Sep 2020 20:38:36
Carabao Cup - half time - 2 Nil down to Brentford. Here's hoping for a Christmas miracle.

Manny561

1.) 16 Sep 2020 20:51:53
Can’t quite understand what’s happened to our defensive tactics and this AlpenPressen as it were. And for the love of god find a versatile midfielder for under £20m in the next month.

Most worryingly is this is near enough our full strength XI bar Tella. And it’s nowhere near Brentford’s near-Premier League reaching side.

2.) 16 Sep 2020 22:03:02
0-2 down and we are still playing the same game pattern. I keep saying it, Romeu adds nothing to the dynamic of thev team, redmond adds nothing! After forster’s incredible time at Celtic, not only do we bench him but we bench him to watch McCarthy playing sh*te! Stephens about to sign new deal? What has happened to us? Hardly hear ings and the other guy mentioned as they aren’t getting the ball!

3.) 16 Sep 2020 22:05:46
I only watched the second half, but some things are still apparent from Saturday. Worryingly we didn't really create any chances in the second half.

- Massive gap between defence and attack in possession. Everytime we got the ball back, you have JWP and Romeu coming deep and passing it around our defence. You can't even see our attacking 4 in the frame, no one comes deep to try and get the ball. So we just knock and it long and hope an opposition defender misses it and we get a chance.
- We play it out wide to a full back and they don't have any options. So they end up going backwards
- Romeu plays facing the CB, no wonder he doesn't pass the ball forward
- Everytime we looked sharp, and like we were gaining momentum, we would give the ball away

We need to look at signing a decent midfielder that can play decent passes across the pitch. If all else fails, call back Lemina from loan!

4.) 16 Sep 2020 22:22:57
I wonder what Poch is doing now?

5.) 17 Sep 2020 09:26:08
When you think we have Boufal not getting
A look and lamina on loan. two players with more attacking skill than our whole midfield!
I believe Boufal has more assists in a few games than Redmond had all season! Why do we persevere with Redmond? As for Romeu .

I believe a shake up of his coaching team is needed. I totally agree a stronger No2 may be required.

Untouchable? - No, but who would replace him? The only one I thought of was Benitez.

Any thoughts?

Let’s go left field.

Salisu comes in as CB with Stephens moving to DMC. He is not too bad on the ball, he can spot a long ball and can tackle. His pace let’s him down but could do a job patrolling/ protecting the back four?

Totally agree that if it carries on, he’s gone. I still can’t understand the need to play senior players out of position instead of using the academy. Our best 10 playing as a 6, one of the best 5s playing as a 2. Redmond is not a 10 or 9. The list goes on. Get McCarthy back too. He’s done nothing wrong. i'm not sure, but I feel results have changed since Walcott got injured? Get him signed up.

I still can’t understand Bednarek at RB. He looked like Bambi on Ice until he move back to CB. RB is our main issue. Kayne Ramsey has earned a contract, so play him. That gets Djenepo up the pitch (albeit he looked better at RB, but a red was pending as he flew it all the time) . We need to improve the squad for next year. Lemina and Elynoussi both could contribute so keep them. If money is the issue, get some free players in, there’s a lot out there with contracts ending in the summer.
