Talk of Harry Winks to Saints. What a signing if we can pull that off.

1.) 09 Apr 2021 20:37:11
I agree with you Manny but tell me - what would your first choice midfield 4 be if everyone was fit and available. Personally, I think it’s a very hard call but Winks offers more going forward than some of the options. As you say, would strengthen the squad but choosing a first XI would get that bit harder!

2.) 10 Apr 2021 02:20:59
Competition for the first XI is crucial. Pep has that headache and he’s doing ok.

3.) 10 Apr 2021 20:49:12
I wasn’t suggesting that completion was a bad thing - it’s a very good thing. I was simply saying that for the first time in many years I’m struggling to see what the strongest team would be and a little bit of me wonders whether Ralph does (great guy that he is! ) . Hopefully he will call it right next Sunday!

Vokins going on loan to Sunderland? Surely he wouldn't go unless we have someone else lined up already? Maitland-Niles? Somebody else?

1.) 31 Jan 2021 08:36:46
I really don't get it. AMN is right footed and not what we need.

Especially after lasts nights potential injuries to Diallo and Walcott.

It's nice to see we have youth coming through, but I feel this is to much at once.

Call me absolutely bonkers but we have both of those positions covered with guys on loan. Lemina and Elouynossi.

Elouynossi is doing well, albeit in Scottish league, but we've had some great players from that league.

Lemina, personally I rate him and could at least do a job until the end of the season.

If they're saying we have no money for players, then surely this is an option, or a case of Ralph being very stubborn.

Heard we are interested in Ajer from Celtic. Ball playing centre half. Do we need that? Could he maybe do a job as a defensive midfielder protecting the back line? Thoughts?

1.) 03 Sep 2020 19:09:11
If it were Hinteregger I would understand as he is undoubted quality. Ajer we don’t need and I’d rather just sign an out and out CM.

2.) 03 Sep 2020 23:50:51
I've watched Ajer a few times and he's been very ordinary. I certainly don't think he'd add much to our squad. Would love for Hinteregger to join us but I think that the fee might be too high.

I see Stoke are willing to let Butland go for a knock down price. He was going to be England No1 before Pickford, but relegation and form stopped this.

Worth a punt?

1.) 13 Aug 2020 15:49:28
Haven't we been there with Forster?

2.) 13 Aug 2020 16:04:05

To be honest, I’m not sure about any of the GKs we have currently.

What’s your thoughts?

3.) 13 Aug 2020 16:53:20
I think that we'll stick with McCarthy as first choice. Not sure what's happening re. Forster. I don't think that Gunn has progressed since he's been with us but he'll probably still be No.2 next season. A keeper is only as good as the defence allows so hopefully our defence steps up and makes the keepers job a little easier.

Any thoughts of who you would want to bring in for next season? Lookman from Fulham would be nice. He's worked with Ralph before.

1.) 13 May 2021 17:28:39
Reckon we need five positions filled. GK, LB, back up FB, CM, wide attacker.

GK: Timo Horn of Cologne. Masip at Valladolid. Rulli is second choice at Villarreal and is a very good keeper but doubt we could draw him.

LB: Enda Stevens, Jetro Willems, maybe Diego Rico if Bournemouth don’t go up would all be reasonably priced and an improvement.

Full back: Djibril Sidibe of Monaco, Tavernier, but probably someone of a much lower calibre, or no one at all.

CM: Would love Harry Winks, maybe Sander Berge? Or both.

Attacker: Lookman would be good. Pereyra/ Ünder. Keep Minamino somehow?

If one of these names came in I’d be happy for us to actually do decent recruitment, but can’t see our total outlay being over £30m if Ings stays. Two defenders and a centre mid are absolutely pivotal, as well as another attacker with Walcott and Minamino leaving.

2.) 14 May 2021 09:51:47
I know finances are tight currently, but this season has shown we have to invest in the squad. Hopefully the club will see a big investment today will reap rewards later.

09 Apr 2021 11:26:47
Credit where credits due. Redmond has really stepped up in the last couple of games. We all know he has talent - let's hope he sustains it. Great job Redders!

07 Mar 2021 11:14:25
What's everyone's thoughts on Danny Ings? Injured again, but the body language says he wants out. I would (reluctantly) let him go and spend the money on the squad for next season.

05 Oct 2020 20:48:22
What about Wilshire on a free? Apparently been fit for the last 8 months!?

1.) 05 Oct 2020 21:11:47
I would take him on a pay as you play contract. Had enough players getting high wages whilst almost living in the treatment room.

2.) 06 Oct 2020 07:38:32
I think after his time at West Ham, we'd struggle to get him on a 'play to play' contract. Supposedly he's been fit for 8 months and still couldn't make it into the West Ham squad. That tells me he's surely not good enough.

3.) 06 Oct 2020 08:51:04
Maybe he just wasn’t ‘fancied’ by Moyes.

I fully agree with the pay when you play contract. Sound business sense. But. If he given a chance and was to return to any where near where he was, he would be a great addition to the squad.

4.) 06 Oct 2020 12:53:33
I’d take Jack Wilshere and Danny Welbeck I’m free transfers right now. Give it a go!

Theo! Theo! Theo!

Good luck Saints.

Poch to Man Utd anyone?

1.) 04 Oct 2020 22:35:38
As a centre-back? Probably wouldn’t be any worse than the current lot.

2.) 06 Oct 2020 08:53:27
Just read that contact has been made with Poch by Man Utd. I feel that would be a great appointment.

3.) 06 Oct 2020 12:56:29
If they were to let OGS go, surely a move for Pochettino is on the cards at Old Trafford. I think Solskjaer has time and can still do a good job, but you’d feel the lure towards Poch as being pretty exciting

Nobody else springs to mind. Bruce or Dyche aside.

4.) 07 Oct 2020 09:11:06
For me Poch would be the manager to draw the big players in at Man Utd. OGS is a good manager, but doesn't have that magic that players are attracted to. Look at Ancelotti at Everton. Would Silva or Martinez be able to get in Allan and Rodriquez? Players are wary of Utd, not sure what’s going on there. Hence a quiet window for them. Poch would give Utd back it’s swagger.

{Ed047's Note - OGS is a pretty poor manager, failed at his previous premiership job and only achieved anything in Norway.

He was fine as an interim but United should have taken the opportunity to appointment a quality manager when they had the chance.

They seem to be snapping up a lot of youngsters as the lure for the big players is no longer there again yet, unless it’s just money they are after.

Jadon Sancho actually wanted to go to Chelsea. That aside I think United reached a point where they weren’t going to be mugged off for the money involved, especially in the current situation.

I believe a shake up of his coaching team is needed. I totally agree a stronger No2 may be required.

Untouchable? - No, but who would replace him? The only one I thought of was Benitez.

Any thoughts?

Let’s go left field.

Salisu comes in as CB with Stephens moving to DMC. He is not too bad on the ball, he can spot a long ball and can tackle. His pace let’s him down but could do a job patrolling/ protecting the back four?

Angus Gun for me. Championship team to get back his mojo after ‘the game that cannot be named’.

Bringing on Diallo really confused me. I think Spurs knew from then knew we wanted to ‘play out the game’. They also knew we weren’t good enough to do that, so just went for it. I think everyone knew we’d lose after that substitution.

Why doesn’t he try other tactics? Koeman used to swap between a 3 and 4 at the back depending on the opposition - Ralph continues with 4-2-2-2 no matter who’s available or who we are playing. We have 3 good CBs, why not try it? KWP on the right, somebody apart from Bertrand on the left.

Does he get the rest of the season and the summer transfer window to improve or do we act now? TBH, I’ve fallen for his charm. I thought everything would be ok, even after two 9-0s. I feel I’ve woken up and can now see the truth.
