Sekou Mara there's a name never heard of before.Sounds good on paper let's hope he can do it on the pitch

1.) 21 Jul 2022 12:09:35
Seems like this is happening

2.) 21 Jul 2022 21:55:06
Alot of interest from other clubs so another young prospect who could turn out to be another shrewd

3.) 22 Jul 2022 09:33:39
The papers are saying there is interest from other clubs but I always think its agents talking up a move. Why has no one else put an offer in. Anway we have to trust in the scouting and hope he is the wonder kid that I have seen written. We still need a proven goal scorer though!

4.) 22 Jul 2022 17:25:17
No one had heard of broja this time last year, yet a vast majority of fans think he was the answer. Not sure myself 6 goals in 32 matches, Armstrong scored 2 in 23. I know there's the potential aspect but both were in a new league with a new team. Hopefully Armstrong will prove a few wrong this season. Hard typing with fingers crossed!

Hi EDS. keep the good work up.
do you have any strong rumours of any striker we could be seriously linked with? only 4 weeks to go and getting anxious.

Many thanks

{Ed002's Note - Liam Delap (S) German sides will continue to try and cherry-pick the best of the best young British players after their success with players like Sancho, Bellingham and Musiala. Delap is on the list for Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund as well as RBS. Burnley and Southampton offer realistic options in England. Manchester City may refuse a sale but may offer a loan.
Moussa Dembele (S) Will go for good in the summer if Lyon get their way - but they may not. Fenerbahce would like to take him to Turkey. Southampton has a declared interest. Agent is offering him around but the player may look to run his contract down.}

1.) 15 Jul 2022 13:18:41
Thanks very much . Top team

2.) 18 Jul 2022 11:02:32
Hi Ed’s,
On the striker front, keep seeing us linked to Kalajdzic, any truth in this? Big, strong and good in the air - a Pelle or Crouch type would be good.

Thanks as always

{Ed002's Note - Sasa Kalajdzic (S) Stuttgart will push for him to sign a new contract. Agent has offered him to Brighton, Roma and Spurs - as they did last summer to Chelsea and Crystal Palace - and probably many other clubs. Bayern Munich are keen on the player but have a preferred target. The same is true of Borussia Dortmund.}

eds . fantastic work you do . many thanks . now the silly season is here do you know of any genuine transfer possibilities . many thanks keep up the good work.

{Ed002's Note - I cannot answer on the timings but don't expect much: There has been interest in:
Josh Griffiths (G) young WBA GK who Southampton scouted on several occasions whilst on loan at Cheltenham.
Neco Williams (RB) The club asked before and were told no, but Southampton may approach Liverpool via his agent to take NW on loan to buy.
Joakim Maehle (RB) Inter and Southampton have been told he is not for sale.
Brandon Williams (LB) a loan consideration for Southampton.
Romain Perraud (LB) well thought of, from Brest and joining to replace Ryan Bertrand.
Marc Guehi (CB) Chelsea will look to have him sign a two year extension and then he will get another loan. Southampton have asked after his availability.
Omar Colley (CB) getting older and off to AFCON means that Sampdoria will listen to reasonable offers. Prior interest of Roma and Newcastle has gone, but Southampton and Leeds may look to an offer.
Evan N'Dicka (CB)
Brandon Williams (LB) a loan consideration.
Ainsley Maitland-Niles (CM) An enquiry has been made by both Newcastle and Southampton. Due to his versatility there will likely be interest from elsewhere as well. He and his agent have made it clear he wants to play in midfield and not as full back. Seems unlikely.
Harry Winks (DM/CM) Won't happen.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek (CM) Fulham were keen to make the loan permanent in the summer but relegation ends that if Chelsea make him available, and they will. There have been two enquiries made already. Chelsea have not discussed any interest that Fulham may have and the interest of Crystal Palace will be dependent on who the new manager will be. Aston Villa have John Terry advocating a move and Southampton have enquired after the asking price.
Joey Veerman (CM) Southampton may approach Heerenveen again to see if an agreement can be reached.
Angelo Fulgini (CM) Angers have made clear their asking price for the player who the accept will move on in the summer. There is declared interest from Monaco and from Southampton. By the summer there may well be more.
Thomas Delaney (CM) available with Crystal Palace and Southampton possible destinations.
Takumi Minamino (AM) Sevilla are keen to take Minamino to replace Vazquez but would want a loan to buy. Southanpton are keen to keep him but again it may well be a loan to buy they are looking for.
Brais Mendez (AM) of interest to Southampton, Newcastle and Norwich.
Jacob Murphy (RW/LW) Growing interest with Southampton, Rangers and Burnley declaring an interest.
Demarai Gray (RW) not a CA pick but there might be a real push for him from Everton and Southampton could look to a deal.
Mikkel Damsgaard (LW) Spurs have asked after a price for the player with Sampdoria saying Southampton and Leeds have both enquired about availability.
Adam Armstrong (S)
Jean-Philippe Mateta (S) Crystal Palace are very keen to take the Mainz striker as a Benteke replacement. Southampton my look to an offer if Ings were to leave. He has an excellent goalscoring record.

1.) 12 Jul 2021 12:04:19
many thanks . top notch service.

12 Jan 2020 17:39:10
any news on Jarrod Bowen are we interested or not. Many thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

1.) 13 Jan 2020 15:41:03
I think that Wolves were looking at him. Haven't heard of any interest from Saints.

19 Jul 2019 12:18:13
eds any ideas who saints are rumoured to be serious about . keep up the good work.

{Ed002's Note - The efforts are on Amazon right now I am told.}

1.) 19 Jul 2019 18:00:02
Believe saints must sell before they can buy . plenty of deadwood to get rid off.

2.) 22 Jul 2019 11:17:25
So far this season we've spent the following:

Ings - 18m
Adams - 15m
Djenepo - 15m

And we've made the following from sales
Targett - 11m
Gallagher - 5m
Gabbiadini - 10m (money's been spent)

I would imagine that Ings money was already forecast so that wouldn't come out of the pot of transfers this season. Cutting out the deadwood is going to be hard, but he's what we have and what we could end up making.

Austin - 5-8m
Lemina - 20-25m
Stephens - 5-8m
Hoedt - 8-10m
Boufal - 8-10m
McCarthy - 5-8m
Forster - 5-8m
Clasie - 3m
Carrillo - 8-10m
Cedric - 8-10m

So by cutting out these players we could make 100m (I don't think we'll be able to sell half of these) - RH has said he only wants to spend 15m on players, anyone that comes in will be young and cheap. We're building a squad for tomorrow and not for today. I would imagine we already have the players we want in the pipeline, we're just waiting for sufficient funds to do so.

3.) 22 Jul 2019 11:54:23
Sorry Saintjay, I know this is probably personal opinion but there is no way we will get a transfer fee for Forster. It is pretty much common knowledge that saints would happily let him go for free to get him off the wage bill, but there are no takers due to high wage. Think we are stuck with him until contract expires.

I think some of the others would be very optimistic too, such as 8-10M for Hoedt.

4.) 22 Jul 2019 14:05:35
I know I was probably being a bit too optimistic earlier - we've shot ourselves in the foot with our players on their massive salaries. Most first-team players earn over 50k a week and they're simply awful and bring nothing to the club, annoyingly we can't get rid of them to lower clubs because they don't want to take the hit.

I only say this for Hoedt because I've read the rumour that his agent has met with AC Milan about the possibilities for a deal of 10m. But yeah those amounts were just pulled out of the sky and bear no relevance to anything in reality.

I don't think we'll be able to flog our GK's, maybe McCarthy but I can't see FF leaving this summer. I think we'll sell Lemina, Boufal, Austin and Clasie, don't think the others will go though.

In the 62 yrs, I have followed saints I don't think I have ever felt so low . As much as I hate to knock managers as it's a thankless job he has to go. No player of any calibre will want to come to a club that is in freefall. Unfortunately, if Ralph was to go who would want to take over .

1.) 09 Aug 2022 15:57:12
Even more then when we got relegated in 2005? and then the points deduction? I hated our time under pellegrino and hughes, god awful.

I think if we can get a couple more faces through the door we could be good. Striker, winger and a central defender. that is the minimum and for Ralph to stop playing players out of posistion. IF that happens we might have a chance at winning some games

I take it gaffer has no confidence in Danso or is he injured? .

23 Dec 2018 21:23:49
Like to thank all eds for their hard work and wish all saints fans all over the world a very merry xmas and new year.

{Ed001's Note - thank you on behalf of all the eds and merry Christmas and a happy new year to you all. And it certainly seems a lot merrier and happier on here with the Hutch in charge!}

1.) 24 Dec 2018 17:37:36
Merry Christmas to everyone. Onwards and upwards. We march on.

12 Jun 2018 10:27:53
Like to see Bas Dost with Gabbiadini.

1.) 12 Jun 2018 12:31:45
I agree! Either Bas Dost, or Nicolai Jørgensen from Feyenoord who is very much in the Rickie Lambert mould.

2.) 12 Jun 2018 18:17:07
Really think Dost is a marked improvement on our current strikers?

My first reaction would be no, but I haven't really seen him play. Signing him would basically mean the end for Carillo though, considering their similar styles. Personally i'm not ready to write Carillo off when we've barely seen him in action. All depends what Hughes has been seeing in training though.

3.) 12 Jun 2018 20:28:45
I agree. You can't write Carrillo off that quickly. He came into the squad when we were at the worst part of the season and he wasn't given many chances to impress. I just hope he stays and does well next season so we can sell him on to Liverpool after Firmino goes to PSG or something. :p.

4.) 12 Jun 2018 22:22:28
Carillo showed more than enough in 10 games to prove he has no upper body strength, no foot coordination, no understanding of hold up play and no idea of where other team mates are on the pitch! He is not and never will be good enough to play as a centre forward in the premier league. Our manager, a fine centre forward and footballer, took a week to figure him out and put him in the stands or on the bench to make up numbers. Pellegrinos final act of incompetence was to pursuede the board to part with 19 million pounds on a poor player.

5.) 13 Jun 2018 07:13:51
SaintPaul that’s ridiculous. The guy came in last minute, right before a change in manager. Just because he didn’t set the world on fire from day one, doesn’t mean he ducks, sometimes players take time to settle in and find their role, and unfortunately for Carillo we were in no position to give him that time at the backend of last season.

Yet another example of complete irrationality from Saints fans. That’s the kind of thinking that leads you to ‘do a Chelsea’ and allow quality players to leave without even getting a sniff of the first team. I’m not saying that’s what Carillo is, I’m just saying you have absolutely no clue what you’re talking about when you say that he’s not.

6.) 13 Jun 2018 10:58:16
If I am wrong then I will apologise on this forum, I have watched enough football and played at a high standard to recognise when a player is way out of his depth, maybe Hughes will turn him into a class act, time will tell.

7.) 13 Jun 2018 12:19:09
I totally agree he has looked out of his depth, but then again there is an argument that he hasn't had a chance. I seem to remember Mane taking time to settle, so it could change.

8.) 13 Jun 2018 15:03:55
I watched Mane and Gardos make their debuts v Arsenal, Mane had pace to spare and the ability to walk around good players, he always had promise but I agree it does take time to settle but you must have the ability in the first place.

9.) 13 Jun 2018 16:43:09
He did look out of his depth a little, but well run teams don't give up on record signings after 7 appearances.

10.) 13 Jun 2018 20:52:04
Ok, we’ll agree to disagree as gents and move in. Healthy and impassioned debate is always good, most important is our passion for our beloved SFC.

16 Jan 2018 20:13:49
Guido Carillo not in team or subs bench tonight . Can we read anything into this ed?

{Ed002's Note - No.}

Well obviously we both bow to your superior knowledge, and fancy making you look at the Mirror site how shameless of us . Please forgive us for even being so stupid as to message anything when we have such informed bright and intelligent people as yourself to make our day go with a smile . gary stones 67 knows nothing about football, life or anything I guess.
