Fernandes is a done deal - presumably he can play in goal as well!
Just saying that £15M (Archer) plus £15M (Fernandes) = £30m (Ramsdale)
I rest my case.

It gets worse - breaking rumours about getting Matt Targett back on loan.
If that happens I will give my season tickets away. God help us.
1.) 20 Aug 2024 15:50:53
Dibs on your season ticket when he signs :)
2.) 20 Aug 2024 17:48:21
We kept telling the transfer team to get their signings on target! Looks like they took us literally!
3.) 20 Aug 2024 18:47:39
If it wasn’t so sad that would be funny!
04 Aug 2024 19:59:43
Just watched the Celtic v Kilmarnock match and O'Riley was different class. He is exactly the type of attacking and creative midfielder we need.
The Board must do whatever it takes to make this deal happen. No more flying kites - Chelsea are sniffing around too so let's get it done.
1.) 05 Aug 2024 17:10:25
Without wishing to bore everyone on this subject, it seems Brighton are also interested.
Celtic want £25M and he seems to be worth that valuation. If he signs for us, has two good seasons in the PL his valuation would likely soar to £50M plus using Declan Rice as a yard stick.
Maybe the sun’s got to me but I see it as an absolute no brainer.
2.) 05 Aug 2024 20:21:09
I think we need a midfielder a striker and a keeper. Keeper Ramsdale on loan seems likely O' Riley doesn't it looks like that as we are interested in getting Carvahlo and since bigger clubs are now interested in Matt. Striker wise I think Gnonto should be nabbed Leeds are in the championship Summerville has been nabbed by the hammers and Galatasaray have got Sara from Norwich. And Gnonto is a good striker in the championship when we were there. So I think he'll be good in the prem for us
3.) 06 Aug 2024 13:49:52
Reading that KWP may stay, at least until the start of the season and Onuachu could stay too, if no decent offer comes (though likely negotiating games)
I would be very happy with all that 12m + Charles for O'Riley, to keep KWP, sell Bree or Manning for Fraser and loan/sell Mara, Larios, Aribo, Sulemana to contribute to Lavia and Ramsay's wages.
Crouchy was great for us, tall Paul deseves a shot. Curious to see how SAA, Dibling and Onuachu do against better pre season teams.
28 Jun 2024 22:19:06
Tell me this isn't true - PLEASE
Walker-Peters to West Ham in exchange for Downes.
As much as I rate Downes, this would be a disaster for us. KWP has often been our most attacking minded player, bar none.
Ings might be in the mix too, and I would love to see him back, but not at the expense of KWP.
He has to be worth north of £60M.
As I say, hopefully this is just conjecture generated during the non-Euro lay down.
1.) 29 Jun 2024 08:27:55
I fear it could be.
KWP has 1 year left on his contract and Saints may be wanting to avoid another Adams situation. I really hoped KWP would stay. He is a great player and has been very loyal.
We urgently need some wing backs and disappointed to see Ben Johnson go to Ipswich.
2.) 08 Jul 2024 15:53:33
Apparently Danny Ings has turned down the chance of returning to Saints
22 Apr 2024 21:36:41
The newest cliche in footballing parlance from pundits, reporters and the like is, "they find a way" which generally describes how the best teams come up trumps in the face of adversity.
Then there's us - the other side of the coin - "we find a way not to win".
How we didn't beat Cardiff defies belief - how we snatched draws from winning positions all season long also defies belief.
Simply put, we're masters at finding a way not to win football matches.
And why is that? As I've said many a time - we lack that winning mentality. When it comes to the play-offs I would fancy us to beat Norwich over two legs, but the others would batter us.
I don't like to admit it, but West Brom are the team which have the physical and mental strength to overcome possession football.
RM - you have much to answer for.

I woke up on Saturday morning believing we would beat BHA. Call it blind faith or refusal to accept the inevitable but finally, I too have thrown the towel in.
Whether it's the very worst it's ever been for a Saints fan is arguable (as Lesleee points out) but for me it feels like it.
It is embarrassing - people actually empathise with me for my loyalty to a lost cause.
But enough of that. Yesterday, because there was so little to watch on the field of play I focussed on our manager in the technical area.
And then I got even more wound up. He looks like the rag and bone man that did the rounds when I lived in Romsey, many years ago. He looks an absolute disgrace - he is unshaven not because he is going for the designer stubble look - he's just lazy. Why does he squat down - that annoys me. It's such a negative posture - if he wants to play invisible then go and hide in the dressing room.
So 20th in the PL and the 20th best dressed manager too. I use the term manager loosely.
All that said, I fancy our chances at Chelsea.
Lol
1.) 23 Feb 2025 21:26:53
Same here, People are feeling bad for me and saying we will tear up the championship but I don't think we will.
Honestly, The club should pull out of the prem save ourselves from embarrassment. I'd rather face the title of worst premier League team ever now than later.
Juric wasn't the one, and is one of the key examples of how Southampton wastes money. We waste it on players that do nothing like BBD. And sold players like Alcaraz. Managers like Juric and Jones. RM. Why did we sack Ralph? Looking back this is a key turning point for the worse.
Hopefully, we can beat Chelsea as my manager is a Chelsea fan but zero hope for me. I'm just going to run the rest of the season on delusion.
2.) 25 Feb 2025 05:21:44
Gronbaek should definitely start (Juric has no clue of Albert’s capabilities) .As nothing has worked to date here is a suggested start x1. Ramsdale. THB WOOD. C.TAYLOR. KWP DOWNES FERNANDES WELINGTON. DIBLING GRONBAEK. . ARCHER. Subs ; SUGAWARA, SULAMANA ABK BREE ARIBO? .? .? . KOM.
08 Feb 2025 18:10:19
Dismal - 4 full backs - what's that about?
Subs - Dibling and Sulemana replaced - enter Smallbone. Has he ever had an impact?
McCarthy played like McCarthy - we don't need to give him game time, we know how bad he is.
So our wining run comes to an end. One in a row.
As I said, dismal.
1.) 08 Feb 2025 21:02:00
Agreed Millertime.
I think we should go 4-2-3-1 to play to our strengths and get our best players on the pitch.
2 wing backs not 4 - KWP and Wellington. Perhaps sub Sugawara on with Onuachu, as he can put a decent ball in.
Fernandes, Sulemana and Dibling are excellent at driving the ball forward but are not finishers, so we need Onuachu or Archer up top to actually score.
Would also like to see an attacking 3 5 2 when chasing a game. Archer and Onuachu up top. Sulemana and Dibling on the wings.

The lights are burning very dimly at Portman Road this afternoon. Anything less than a win will be curtains for us, for sure. A win would provide a glimmer of hope.
We're going through one of the most disappointing if not depressing periods in the last 50 years or so with not too many reasons to be cheerful. The club's identity, results on the pitch, piss poor performance, lack of quality makes it all a very difficult watch.
Yet, here we are, Saturday afternoon and still believing, still hoping, until about 5 o'clock that is.
Maybe today's the day?!
1.) 01 Feb 2025 17:12:23
Well we won. The problem is that I've forgotten how to celebrate ?
2.) 01 Feb 2025 17:17:50
You’re right! I don’t think it changes much to be fair, except maybe Juric’s points per game ratio is now better than RM. Albeit slightly
3.) 01 Feb 2025 19:38:24
The biggest plus for me was the performance of Wellington - he looks like he can defend and go forward. With him linking up with Sulemana (who you know I’ve been banging on about - where else would he have been ignored week in, week out) we pose a threat down the left.
Need to have the same down the right flan with KWP and not quite sure who. But with pace down both flanks and an in-form target man, at least we will ask questions.
Anyway, today is a start!
4.) 01 Feb 2025 20:40:42
Bang on Miller, you called it! Today was the day. The confidence boost throughout the club now will be astronomical, I can feel it. Down but never out! Come on you Saints wooooooo!
19 Jan 2025 19:10:02
Thanks St John, thanks Always a Saint!
I've had better birthdays to be honest. The score line flattered us - we were second best in every battle all over the pitch. The late flurry just plastered over the cracks.
We were scratching our heads why Sulemana didn't start - some said he was knackered from Thursday night. Come on, they're athletes - at least start him and see how he goes.
Usual suspects went missing - Downes and Armstrong should have stayed on the coach.
It's now past embarrassing - the travelling fans chanting, "we're going down with the Leicester" in response to the Forest taunting.
My worry is the widespread complacency that we will bounce back up after a season in the championship. That is a little disrespectful to the dozen or so teams in that league who will more than compete with us. No one can say for sure, but I would guess we are on a three year rebuilding mission starting next season.
1.) 20 Jan 2025 07:00:08
Hopefully, The club does need a hard reset if we ever are going to win silverware and be the team we're in in the premier league in 2016.
It's a shame though as if we sign a good scout or a good youth academy prospect they automatically get swiped up by a big premier league team
Hopefully some new staff, some good signings and finding talent as well as keeping the experienced will help the club return back to it's glory days.
If Brighton and Bournemouth can stay in the prem so can we.
18 Jan 2025 13:32:56
Against my better judgement but spending my birthday weekend up in Nottingham in anticipation of our first win on the road!
Actually, it has evoked wonderful memories of my last visit to the City Ground - back in Jan 1977 when we drew 3-3 in the FA Cup 4th round.
The great Brian Clough was their manager (green sweatshirt and all) and we had a team that included Channon, Osgood, Ball, McDougal, Williams.
We went on to win the replay 2-1 before losing to United (who we beat in the final the year before).
Oh what memories - we played with such a swagger - oh for a couple of those characters now!
1.) 18 Jan 2025 18:21:40
Hopefully they play Prowesy just for you ??
2.) 18 Jan 2025 22:30:32
Haha Lesleee - can’t see Nunez picking a weakened side lol!
from the hotel steam room - a couple of locals worrying that we may be a banana skin!
Fingers crossed - stranger things have happened!
3.) 19 Jan 2025 02:00:35
Many Happy Returns Millertime! . Wouldn’t it be great to celebrate with a win! (pigs might fly)! From the GREAT LAND DOWN UNDER. KOM.
4.) 19 Jan 2025 15:49:42
Hope you are having a happy birthday millertime despite the result
5.) 19 Jan 2025 16:26:10
I.hope you enjoyed two once in a year events Millertime. Your birthday and an Onuachu goal!
6.) 19 Jan 2025 19:15:39
Haha - the Onuachu goal was greeted like the Mardi Gras carnival in the Saints end! Discovered a fantastic Indian restaurant on outskirts of Nottingham so wasn’t a total washout of a weekend!
20 Aug 2024 18:47:39
If it wasn’t so sad that would be funny!
14 Aug 2024 17:29:00
2408 - I find your posts on the money but this time I hope you are completely wrong. Not only would it be a massive set back losing KWP (try replacing him for under £30M) having JWP would be the finish of us. Free kicks are different class but his contribution overall is bang average
05 Aug 2024 17:10:25
Without wishing to bore everyone on this subject, it seems Brighton are also interested.
Celtic want £25M and he seems to be worth that valuation. If he signs for us, has two good seasons in the PL his valuation would likely soar to £50M plus using Declan Rice as a yard stick.
Maybe the sun’s got to me but I see it as an absolute no brainer.
03 Aug 2024 12:02:01
That’s some list! I’d deleted most of them from my memory!
02 Aug 2024 22:25:16
The signing of Stewart must go down as one of our all-time transfer calamities - we bought him knowing that he had a long term injury and guess what, he’s unlikely to be fit for another half a season or so. Who was responsible for that decision?
I have a gut feeling that Sulemana will show up this season - I certainly hope so otherwise 2408’s prediction may come back to haunt us.
Keep checking my alerts for an update on Ramsdale - more in hope than expectation.
26 Feb 2025 16:44:31
Hi St John, I know there are more pressing issues to be concerned about, but honestly, is that the sort of look we want from our manager. I see him as a cross between Steptoe and Columbo.
I am always wary of judging a book by its cover, but he is the personification of a bewildered man thrust into a role he has no understanding of and unsure whether it’s Christmas or Easter.
I despair - but more with the Board who appointed him.
23 Feb 2025 17:28:03
I agree with most of the above 2408 except for your assessment of the players you consider are PL standard.
As a collective, they demonstrated they are not good enough but individually several are - Ramsdale and KWP notably with Dibling and Fernandes PL worth to be proved when they leave for pastures new.
Your analogy about the manager having the look of a man going to the electric chair is absolutely spot on!
16 Feb 2025 13:45:59
Lesleee, never in a month of Sundays will I agree with you on RM. His legacy from the Championship will mean he will get work again, but never in the PL - trust me on that.
The squad’s confidence is shot and for that he holds some responsibility.
But for me, we are depressingly mediocre in every aspect on the park. Even yesterday, both sets of suns wee going through their paces at half time. Bournemouth were doing it under the watchful eye of one of their coaches - our lot were just playing keep it ups. Their team came on to the pitch second half looking like a team - ours just ambled on aimlessly - rather like their performance.
Little things can make big difference - unfortunately our little things are rubbish too.
Yep, a 3 year plan with strategic milestones to
Measure progress against targets. Will that happen? I seriously doubt it.
15 Feb 2025 21:15:21
All of the above. Bournemouth outplayed, outrun and out thought our losers - they were better than us in every department. Their first thought is to get the ball forward quickly and they have runners busting a gut. Our lot don’t even jog.
I have news for all of us fans on this forum. We have absolutely no chance of bouncing back up.
Not only do we lack quality, we lack heart and spirit. Ee will not be able to compete with the top half of the Championship.
It will be a long time before we return. With the odd exception, there is nothing worth salvaging.
The club do not deserve the fans who turn up, pay good money and go home deflated week in week out .
The ironic chanting, “we’re effing rubbish” whilst true is still very embarrassing.
We really are at rock bottom physically and metaphorically.
08 Feb 2025 12:08:54
Quite remarkable - I agree completely with Lesleee’s AA assessment although we will be forever grateful to him for that golden strike at Wembley in May!
