Fernandes is a done deal - presumably he can play in goal as well!

Just saying that £15M (Archer) plus £15M (Fernandes) = £30m (Ramsdale)

I rest my case.

It gets worse - breaking rumours about getting Matt Targett back on loan.

If that happens I will give my season tickets away. God help us.

Millertime!

1.) 20 Aug 2024 15:50:53
Dibs on your season ticket when he signs :)

2.) 20 Aug 2024 17:48:21
We kept telling the transfer team to get their signings on target! Looks like they took us literally!

3.) 20 Aug 2024 18:47:39
If it wasn’t so sad that would be funny!

Just watched the Celtic v Kilmarnock match and O'Riley was different class. He is exactly the type of attacking and creative midfielder we need.

The Board must do whatever it takes to make this deal happen. No more flying kites - Chelsea are sniffing around too so let's get it done.

1.) 05 Aug 2024 17:10:25
Without wishing to bore everyone on this subject, it seems Brighton are also interested.

Celtic want £25M and he seems to be worth that valuation. If he signs for us, has two good seasons in the PL his valuation would likely soar to £50M plus using Declan Rice as a yard stick.

Maybe the sun’s got to me but I see it as an absolute no brainer.

2.) 05 Aug 2024 20:21:09
I think we need a midfielder a striker and a keeper. Keeper Ramsdale on loan seems likely O' Riley doesn't it looks like that as we are interested in getting Carvahlo and since bigger clubs are now interested in Matt. Striker wise I think Gnonto should be nabbed Leeds are in the championship Summerville has been nabbed by the hammers and Galatasaray have got Sara from Norwich. And Gnonto is a good striker in the championship when we were there. So I think he'll be good in the prem for us

3.) 06 Aug 2024 13:49:52
Reading that KWP may stay, at least until the start of the season and Onuachu could stay too, if no decent offer comes (though likely negotiating games)

I would be very happy with all that 12m + Charles for O'Riley, to keep KWP, sell Bree or Manning for Fraser and loan/sell Mara, Larios, Aribo, Sulemana to contribute to Lavia and Ramsay's wages.

Crouchy was great for us, tall Paul deseves a shot. Curious to see how SAA, Dibling and Onuachu do against better pre season teams.

28 Jun 2024 22:19:06
Tell me this isn't true - PLEASE

Walker-Peters to West Ham in exchange for Downes.

As much as I rate Downes, this would be a disaster for us. KWP has often been our most attacking minded player, bar none.

Ings might be in the mix too, and I would love to see him back, but not at the expense of KWP.

He has to be worth north of £60M.

As I say, hopefully this is just conjecture generated during the non-Euro lay down.

Millertime!

1.) 29 Jun 2024 08:27:55
I fear it could be.

KWP has 1 year left on his contract and Saints may be wanting to avoid another Adams situation. I really hoped KWP would stay. He is a great player and has been very loyal.

We urgently need some wing backs and disappointed to see Ben Johnson go to Ipswich.

2.) 08 Jul 2024 15:53:33
Apparently Danny Ings has turned down the chance of returning to Saints

The newest cliche in footballing parlance from pundits, reporters and the like is, "they find a way" which generally describes how the best teams come up trumps in the face of adversity.

Then there's us - the other side of the coin - "we find a way not to win".

How we didn't beat Cardiff defies belief - how we snatched draws from winning positions all season long also defies belief.

Simply put, we're masters at finding a way not to win football matches.

And why is that? As I've said many a time - we lack that winning mentality. When it comes to the play-offs I would fancy us to beat Norwich over two legs, but the others would batter us.

I don't like to admit it, but West Brom are the team which have the physical and mental strength to overcome possession football.

RM - you have much to answer for.

The wally in the wooley has said during pre-match interview that Stoke at home tonight is our biggest game of the season.

Really?

I would have thought 3 points at home to Everton on Saturday is more important in the hope that it sets us off on a recovery run.

Millertime!

1.) 29 Oct 2024 17:01:22
Well, it's the only one he might win!

Our line up could be our Championship starting 11 next season, so will be interesting to see how we get on.

2.) 29 Oct 2024 19:16:00
The bench carries more goal threat wouldn’t you say?

3.) 29 Oct 2024 21:08:14
Both the players on it and the bench itself!

4.) 30 Oct 2024 00:37:56
Well that was underwhelming to say the least. We struggled to beat Stoke City reserves yet played 8 regular first team starters. Maybe Onaucha and Archer are enemies, they must be, RM never puts them on the pitch together!
Can anyone give me a positive about the performance, not the result, the performance
Everton and Wolves must be ? themselves!

5.) 30 Oct 2024 10:33:17
Sugawara showed some fighting spirit with that goal line clearance, Bree some composure with that finish and THB is scoring from free kicks. Another day we would have lost 3-2.

Otherwise, disappointing and squad players did not seize their chance. ABK and Amewyaw deserve a shot and we need to get Onuachu and Archer up top, as you say.

26 Oct 2024 16:09:30
Interesting stat from the Etihad - we've had 263 passes in the first half but only 22 have been in final third. City - 169 passes in the final third.

I think the team selection was based on one last hurrah for his mates - Stephens and Manning - really?

Millertime!

19 Oct 2024 17:23:18
Well that will be that then.

RM is in the gutter now - not much to be achieved by stamping all over him - he's done.

Millertime!

1.) 19 Oct 2024 18:08:23
Inevitable outcome given last 12 months. Lots of questions online about whether sacking RM will save Southampton .wrong question. The question is.do you believe RM can secure saints future in prem. To me, clearly no. So changing coach doesn't fix problem, just moves dial on survival from "utterly no chance" to "well maybe". I'll take that

2.) 19 Oct 2024 18:31:24
Spot on Millertime.
Mr Lloyd will still disagree.
I have no words after today, 2-0 up at home to Leicester and can’t even get a point. Diabolical is an understatement. Feel completely deflated.

16 Oct 2024 15:37:21
What are the FA thinking - they had a ready made candidate in RM!

Still, at least we won't have to worry about Tuchel taking the job at Southampton!

Millertime!

1.) 17 Oct 2024 02:53:57
Although several reports indicate Potter or Corbera’n as possible successor toRM (whoever turns out cheaper for the Board)! both of whom. would be an upgrade on the the ‘status quo’ I would like to reiterate my previous suggestions for those who are concerned with previous EPL experience.Michael Carrick (Middlesbrough) previous over 10 yrs playing and captaining Man Utd. Followed by a period of asst.Manager under at least Two Managers’ at Utd. Then there’s Rob Edwards (Watford) formerly of (Luton) Town) spending last season in the Premiership. Just putting it ‘out there’ before any potential die is finally cast! Fingers crossed! Keep On Marching!

2.) 17 Oct 2024 08:23:50
So pleased for Shea Charles who was outstanding for N. Ireland and fortunate indeed that Danny Rohl (Sheffield Wednesday) recognised his potential talent and was able to quickly transform him into an elite player whilst Russell. Martin was in a quandary as to what to do with him and not envisaging he could progress to be EPL ready so quickly. Keep On Marching!

3.) 17 Oct 2024 15:18:10
Valid point St John

4.) 18 Oct 2024 18:22:50
St John - Ron Edwards is still at Luton after relegation and now a poor start in the championship. He is formally of Watford ??

5.) 19 Oct 2024 00:25:39
Saint GGG Thanks for.pointing out ROB EDWARDS is still currently at Luton Town-I stand corrected! .IWill have to. revert to my original managerial choices. and eliminate Edwards as he is not responsible for Watford Fc recent good form!

01 Oct 2024 18:47:22
There will be people who feel sorry for RM (I'm not clear why) but when he's sacked - and he will be - do you have any idea how many millions of pounds he will be given as a settlement?

And do you know where that money comes from?

He will be crying all the way to the bank.

Millertime!

1.) 02 Oct 2024 10:33:58
Literally, I felt a bit bad initially but he's getting paid a lot more than us and I still think ann average bloke could manage a game better than you

2408 - I find your posts on the money but this time I hope you are completely wrong. Not only would it be a massive set back losing KWP (try replacing him for under £30M) having JWP would be the finish of us. Free kicks are different class but his contribution overall is bang average

The signing of Stewart must go down as one of our all-time transfer calamities - we bought him knowing that he had a long term injury and guess what, he’s unlikely to be fit for another half a season or so. Who was responsible for that decision?

I have a gut feeling that Sulemana will show up this season - I certainly hope so otherwise 2408’s prediction may come back to haunt us.

Keep checking my alerts for an update on Ramsdale - more in hope than expectation.

I was waiting for your world view Lesleee!

There’s a difference between being negative and being pragmatic. I think we’re all pretty much saying the same thing - great we won but on any other day we could easily have lost. We didn’t win because RM had shaken up things or stopped trying to play silly tippy tappy passes in our 18 yard box.

No, we won because basically it was our turn.

Look at the stats - we had roughly 2/3 of overall possession yet they won more corners and had more shots on goal. That is not a formula which is going to get us many wins.

I do agree that a win at Wolves would be a massive lift before the break - before we welcome Liverpool twice in the space of a few weeks but hopefully by then, we will have appointed someone who understands that in order to win matches you need to score goals.

Just saying, Lesleee!

It’s a really big win but it will only count for something if we push on and get something at Wolves next week. It’s a start but no more than that.

We got lucky today but to be fair, we deserve something to go our way.

Rambo was outstanding and had it not been for him we certainly wouldn’t have ended up with 3 points.

Stephens and Manning weaken our team.

And at the risk of upsetting Emperor Leslee, I haven’t changed my views on Martin. Not one bit - all he did today was buy himself another week.

You’re right - it’s an awful watch. It’s the football equivalent of painting by numbers except that we’re rubbish with the paint brush.

We don’t even try and get the ball into the mixer. Shamefully our players prefer to pass it back the way they’re facing (Dibling aside) until all eleven opposition are behind the ball.

Mind numbingly predictable.
