Djuricic deal dragging on and Feyenoord say we are undervaluing Vilhena. Our squad is wearing thin and would be disastrous for Champions league push if we don't get at least one of them. Hope Spider/Vic/Toby all come back soon!

According to some newspapers this morning, Djuricic is complete, a work permit now has to be arranged. Feyenoord understandably want to keep Vilhenna until the summer, so are going for good compensation pricewise £5m - £7m.
Also it has been stated that victor Wanyama is back in training today

2.) 02 Feb 2015 11:51:22
Don't despair. any club will try to get top dollar in the January transfer window and the Djurcic move is complicated because he's already on loan at Mainz.
Worry at 10:50. even then the loan window will open after that.

3.) 02 Feb 2015 12:05:18
Vilhena deal is off according to Dutch reports. ( News now )

Always supported Mane even during his rough patches at the club. Yes he is inconsistent, but I've been a season ticket holder for about 7 years and haven't seen a player with his ability since maybe Lambert's ability (agility for a big man) or Schneiderlin. Mane is one of the most gifted we've had in recent years. Look at the way he can run with the ball at pace and skill. On his day, truly unplayable (like liverpool or chelsea) People who want rid of an incredible, and still young! player like Mane are fools, sorry.

Fully agree I think the same.

2.) 24 Mar 2016 21:59:38
So was Papa Waigo on his day when he wasn't offside.

3.) 25 Mar 2016 05:17:50
Waigo / mane
Nothing alike lol.

4.) 25 Mar 2016 05:18:59
Waigo was just a tiny little bit better than Delgado
Old hassan used to do his thing well.

5.) 25 Mar 2016 10:12:28
What about Henri Camara? Brilliant goal against Norwich!

6.) 25 Mar 2016 16:31:19
Oh my god that Norwich goal was sick lol.

Koeman is the main man to blame, playing with 5 defenders? What happened to your 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3? No creativity, JWP not ready for first team football. Koeman needs to sort it out. Lacklustre and no effort.

Wanyama apparently handed in transfer request in a bid to rejoin Poch at Spurs? Not sure whether its reliable (being thrown across the internet) but it is a silly side ways move. Plus we need to be more strict on things like this, I understand our good players will attract interest but the club must put a stop to the number of players leaving and strengthening the squad, not replacing!

SaintJimbo

1.) 23 Aug 2015 00:05:55
I don't understand why, wanyama was half the player under pochettino then he was under koeman. I don't think he is irreplaceable and do we really want to risk losing him for nothing

2.) 23 Aug 2015 10:32:14
FFS, grow up!

The media make up a load of rubbish and you lap it up. RoKo says there has been no offer from Spuds and that Victor is not for sale, and you ignore it.

Roll on September.

Im proud of our academy, and really like the look of our up and coming players. But no matter how hard I try, the only one I can't back/praise is JWP. This may be surprising as most of my friends disagree with me but I feel like he has so much to improve to be first team material. He is not fit enough (can't make runs for a full 90) not strong enough, or fast enough, which you'd think a youth player would be, or have a good turn of speed at least, and JWP has neither. His set pieces is what keeps the praise about him around, but he doesn't challenge the goal keeper on free kicks, his set pieces are 50/50 whether they hit the spot, and his corners rarely beat the first man. I've tried to support him but he's a player which if a prem team came in for, for 10 mill, I wouldn't say no.

Some would agree with you, but I'm sorry, I don't. The kid is still only 20 - an age when most pro players haven't played a game at the top level.

To say that a youth player would be fast is quite frankly extremely bizarre. What does age have to do with speed, or strength? Some kids his age will have the pace, but many won't.

JWP is being tracked by several top top sides, and as I mentioned a few days ago on here has been tipped recently as having more potential that Stirling - not quite sure I agree with that one, but there are top pro's out there with far more experience than you or I that rate JWP very highly.

2.) 08 Aug 2015 00:22:05
The lads at the club already have enough to deal with, being unsettled by the press 24/7, they don't need people turning backs on them with the season not starting yet. I mean, he's 20 ffs, not 28. it's not like he won't improve. Give the lad some time and get off his back.

3.) 08 Aug 2015 00:40:26
Jwp needs to step his game up ten fold since poch left and he signed his new 5yr deal .his free kicks have been non existent and corners the same.and with regards to pace and speed you are fast from start or you just ain't never going to be fast, name a player that was slow at the start of his career then at the age of 28 became speedy Gonzales.i agree that you get more powerful if u was already a strong player but that is just improving wot u already have through training .
And in truth I can only think he had the quality and has still got it but he never ups his game .

4.) 08 Aug 2015 02:07:01
the amount of absolutely clueless fans on here has reached tipping point. only 20 and nearly 100 games. but hey what does the best club in the country when it comes to young players, know about young players.

5.) 08 Aug 2015 02:12:20
seems like JWP will be the scapegoat this season then?

6.) 08 Aug 2015 06:22:59
Too many fifa fans on here. "He's not fast or strong so he's rubbish"
nail on the esso, CLUELESS fans!!

7.) 08 Aug 2015 10:46:20
Possibly people hold too high expectations, shame really, we are one of the few clubs in the EPL who follows and instills the philosophy of giving youth a CHANCE and this is good not only for the Saints but also English football.
Regards to JWP he is progressing and developing (possibly not at the pace everyone would wish/want) but let's not forget he did have an injury last season that put him out of action for some time. If JWP is so bad why is he picked for the England under 21 squad?

8.) 08 Aug 2015 12:56:11
People need to remember that the lad is only 20 years old. Give him time and he will come good. What were you doing at 20. Certainly not playing football in the hardest league in the world

9.) 08 Aug 2015 21:10:33
hes not a flashy player and what he does do goes largely unnoticed. his attitude is absolutely perfect and is a role model to all the youth players. his quality of passing is 1st to none out of any english PL player atm, bold claim yes. u21 captain v germany, scored the winner. the free kick v brazil. was it 5 assits in 4 games last season after his broken foot? why always attack the weakest area of his game, tackling?

10.) 08 Aug 2015 21:21:16
Beckham was pretty pacey, wasn't he!LOL

If you have the skill, you do not need to be able to outsprint everyone else.

11.) 22 Aug 2015 20:53:21
Ok, I guess maybe I was being too harsh assessing his strengths/weaknesses, considering he is only 20 years old. I apologise. But my main point I was trying to make is that he has played a lot for us at such a young age, nearly 100 caps, but he has yet to truly improve. He has always been decent at set pieces but his physical game has stayed the same. i'm not saying he needs to be as fast as Walcott and Bale, but he needs to have at least a turn of pace to beat a player. Yes I agree he is young and has time to improve, and I hope I'm wrong that there is more to come from him, but from what I've seen, as a home and away supporter, he really needs to step up.

I know its easier said than done, but I feel that this year, we could be one of the teams to break the previous trend of the negative effect of the Europa League on Prem teams. I think if we can secure 2, ideally three more players, with the inclusion of our youth players, we can cater for both goals. A versatile defender CB/RB, a CM for cover for Wanyama/Clasie and if possible an Attacker (winger or striker). I feel that if we really push for 3 signings, we could have a great prem season as well as european one! would be a shame to get knocked out of europa and end up mid season due to tiredness due to lack of depth because I believe the talent is definitely there!

As long as we don't get a mass of injuries, yes, I agree with you

If Newcastle go down for sure go for Townsend, also Sisto's price is cheap (read it somewhere that its around 5 million for some reason (maybe buy out clause) and he would definitely fit the bill. Like the look of him.

Hate to agree with JWP there.
J-Rod looked sluggish and slow. He definitely needs a good pre-season to get that strength and pace back, I remember watching him unable to outpace Nasri, who isn't all too fast himself. Yes he looked very poor, unable to get past players, but he needs time, especially after such a long injury. Hopefully he will become stronger than before, he's come back to fitness at a good time with a pre-season of strengthening and conditioning ahead.

Wanyama's illness is real, he was admitted to the club doctor and advised not to travel, these are the words of southampton staff

I think Wanyama will do a schneiderlin. by that I mean keep him until next years transfer window before he leaves. Where I don't want to believe in the speculation behind his 'apparent transfer request' his head did look elsewhere at times at the watford game. We need a defender and a creative midfielder at the very least.

Worrying news that players don't see this club becoming the club they believed it would be when they joined. Imagine if loyalty was still a thing. Playing for the badge and the red and white. Money talks nowadays, and its impossible to keep up with the big kids. Just imagine where we'd be if there were rules on transfers, contract lengths, the age youth players could leave, and most importantly, without the 'big clubs' splashing millions and millions to strip any hope a team has of becoming one of them.

Your delusional if you think Yoshida is a better RB than CB. He made some good tackles, but got caught out a few times, and he never made a run forward and made mainly backwards passes. He meant the play never developed and meant we kept playing deep, which was the main reason why we didn't push on to win the game. Too many side passes, not enough movement in front, and not enough risks taken to score.

Agree with JCsmith, where VVD Looks a talent, his playstyle is too much of a risk to take on, especially when we have no room for mistake when spending +10million for him. Should look at other options, possibly foreign, who have played at a higher level. Don't think attacking is the issue. When we have an established back four, is when we will look good.

Doubt we will go for De Jong because of his age, but I think he could do well, we already have wanyama for the holding role so would like Schneiderlin's replacement to be a bit more cute on the ball (Clasie maybe) Milner is thinking of going abroad and would love to see either austin or Ings. preferably Ings
