I mentioned that all the players would rally round and that I thought the goalkeeper would sign

Thank god he doesn't read the negative clap trap on here. bar a few sensible posters.

Yep, not convinced everyone here are Saints supporters.
There's definitely one determined to see Eckert gone, which weakens us and more than likely puts us out of the promotion challenge. The rest of the league are terrified of the 21game run and I wouldn't be surprised if they are spying on social media and attempting to stir up rubbish.

Hopefully we get Peretz deal done soon, will be a major step forward and a huge statement of intent.

2.) 05 Jun 2026 12:10:12
Absolutely spot on
And the goalkeeper deal has been done!!
Saints are coming to get you!

3.) 05 Jun 2026 12:45:59
Southhants/Hugh,

You boys are digging yourselves a hole.

You're naively presuming performances are going to just carry on when we left off.

Before the whole spying thing I mentioned the team needs to remain/rebuild/get better going into the new season.

Pererts has just signed so that's a massive step in the right direction, granted, I'll give you that.

But Ross Stewart is out of contract, no news on Larin yet (though I think he will sign) but the the other key signings are Scienza and Jander.

I think Jander will go and Scienza 100%. We failed to put on any display under Tonda when Scienza wasn't playing. So unless he can replace like for like, immediately there's you're change to performances next season already.

Secondly only Tonda and his team truly no/will let on how much he needed the spying. So now the proofs in the pudding, we will get to see and judge him on his results THIS season.

Which is what I have been saying all along.

4.) 05 Jun 2026 14:48:04
Long time reader, first time poster.

@SouthHantsRich2 You're not wrong about negative claptrap on here! Certain individuals whinging and moaning left and right you'd think we had been inundated with Portsmouth fans!

Don't really want to delve into spygate as I think most salient points have been raised somewhere or other, however it is very clear that observing training sessions is not the primary reason for a 21 game unbeaten run - as I think any half intelligent football follower could agree.

Eckert is obviously an extremely talented manager as evidenced by the fact our billionaire businessman owner did not immediately sack him, as would very likely, and very understandably be his inclination.

No-one is stating we will walk the league with 100 points but there ARE reasons to be positive as opposed to perpetually moaning. It helps to carry a small sense of hope and optimism supporting SFC else it's probably better to go and support Manchester City.

5.) 05 Jun 2026 14:57:48
I am shocked Peretz has signed, a lot of noise from Spain that Larin will also sign. The very fact that Peretz has signed would suggest there is no discord within the squad, only a fool would freely enter that type of environment.

6.) 05 Jun 2026 15:40:53
Peretz signing is huge.

I believe Ross has an optional 1 year contract extension we can activate

Some big names will go to balance the books but if we can keep 4 of THB, Jander, Charles, Aza, Leo and Larin I will be a happy man.

Tonda had us top since he took over. That will be hard to do with stronger teams around us, a weaker squad, no spying, points deduction but playoffs at least is possible.

Also the sides that stayed two+ seasons in the champ e.g. Sunderland and Leeds were the ones that stayed up in the prem.

7.) 05 Jun 2026 16:55:43
Well at least you aren't hooked on Still anymore, after breaking up with Martin.
Now you're obsessed that Tonda did good
because of spying, known everywhere else in the world as 'scouting' or rather every league in the world.

How on earth his scouting helped his formation changes at half time, the players passion, defending for their lives, scoring amazing goals.
Rumour has it that Charles watched videos of beckham and Ronaldo to learn how to score wonder goals.
Aziz. watched 2 years of Man City videos to work out how to score that wonder goal.

And the team read Beano books and copies of Shoot magazine to learn to attack in numbers, cross and head the ball.

As an aside, I was in Shoot once.

So lesleeeeeee give it a rest, it's boring.
watching the opponents train all over the world. is acceptable. and not cheating.
But the EFL made up some random rule, fined a guy 200, 000 who admitted to watching every opponent train is!

Time to support the Saints

Clarin now signed.

8.) 05 Jun 2026 17:30:18
The thing we have on our side with Scienza is his age. Are clubs going to gamble on paying the money we will want for a 29yo with no sell on. Maybe a promoted team. He has had one great season in the Championship surely he would have been scouted previously by others by this stage of his career and no one else took the chance.

9.) 05 Jun 2026 22:57:29
Looks like the club has missed the timescale to automatically initiate a one year extension for Ross Stewart.
It appears he is now free to leave.

10.) 06 Jun 2026 07:09:35
Yes I read that too. That oversight could cost us a few mil to replace Stewart, which is an own goal. Hearing Manning wants a new contract and hope can secure Bree. Solak says he wants a 10 to compete with Azaz.

Be good to bring in 30-40m through selling most of Ramsdale, Diaz, Sugawara, Downs, Larios and Baz, so do not have to sell as much.

If we only sell 1 or 2 key players, my gut says we will be in a 3 horse race for autos with West Ham and Wolves. Millwall and Boro will be weaker without Azeez and Hackney. Norwich, Sheff Utd, Wrexham, Burnley and Birmingham will be up there but think we can beat them.

11.) 06 Jun 2026 13:49:34
Finally positive words on here. Leslee let's try the old fashioned if you have nothing nice to say, keep it to yourself. Larin and Peretz is a huge sign that the team don't have an issue. Manager isn't just about the spying, clearly has some tactical knowledge.

Centre mid is my concern, I think jander and Charles might go, leaving us a little light. Scienzer has been good, but not the reason we did well, would be missed but not terminal, if we get the right money, let him go.

12.) 08 Jun 2026 16:57:02
I have smelt fish for a while

12 May 2026 23:33:35
Lssleeeeeeeeeee,
I want to say a big thank you for sneaking Still into the stadium and him giving the team talk.
Without him I think we would have lost.
This new manager doesn't have a clue
As for suggesting the new manager is only successful because of ????️ ing
I agree
To think he was a tactical genius before he joined us. a Mr Still School of Excellence

Great result. only one team wanted to win the game from about the 60th minute.
And we did!!

SouthHantsRich2

1.) 13 May 2026 12:15:15
You're talking nonsense South hants.

I had valid points that I mentioned BEFORE spygate and since that has come to light it give more credibility to my points, not less.

Like I say I hope I'm wrong and I will gladly eat my words, but now more than ever it's looking next season is where we judge Tonda from.

Where I'm sure if Spying was a thing it will be closely monitored so it's not anymore and if it was never really a thing there's still the observation of how Tonda leads us into a new season with players/team they he has built brought in/replaced.

The fact that you are calling him a tactical genius after barely a season, particularly with this spying claims/evidence out there shows your not think straight.

I'm loving and grateful for what we're achieving this year.the difference is though I look further down the road at potentially what's coming.

2.) 13 May 2026 20:01:25
How has spate somehow validated your opinions. The opinions that can't be proven as your beloved WS and RM are no longer with us

3.) 13 May 2026 20:35:02
Because there's evidence to suggest this wasn't a one off situation, you understand the ramifications of that right?

It means, if proven, this 'tactical genuis' tactics are sending people to observe the oppositions set up for each coming match.

I was Tonda to be the real deal, like I say I'll happily eat my words, it's just disconcerting that nothing has come out to separate him from it, yet.

RM was never my beloved, I stuck with him because I knew the incompetence of our board, which was proven by the hiring of Juric to replace RM.

No one here seemed to think we could get anyone worse than RM, yet that's exactly what we got.

As for Will Still, sure I love the guy a little for what he done for us.which was put together a quality championship/Premiership team following that disastrous relegation season.

It's a team Tonda has been benefiting from and that's been my point regarding him.

4.) 13 May 2026 21:23:44
No one said Tonda is the real deal . What you can't get into your head is he has a much improved points to game ratio, it's a results business . Perhaps you need to know how that works

None of any of this has anything to do with spygate and yet you spout off about this proves your point. Juric was no better and no worse than RM

Ask any Rangers fan if they would take him back or have a shot with Juric, if those were the only options.

5.) 13 May 2026 21:24:55
I've not seen any "evidence" it's not a one off

6.) 14 May 2026 08:52:10
SaintGGG
I sympathise with your frustration re Lesleeee
Nothing they post makes any sense whatsoever I propose no one replies to his rants. rants of a madman or woman!

7.) 14 May 2026 11:07:30
Hahaha very true. definitely in the wind up.

8.) 14 May 2026 11:37:25
Time will tell Southhants, I'll gladly put my hands up.

There's a chance I'm right about Tonda (I don't want to be) but then you and others who call me mad and rambling would have to put your hand up and own it.though I'm sure it will be quiet and tumbleweeds if that day comes.

Juric was Diabolical, he accumulated worse points than RM.

So if it very much did get worse to which Guernsey (who isn't around anymore or gone quiet) famously said to me RM needed to go as it "Couldn't possibly get any worse"

My only thing with RM was to keep him until they lined up the right replacement. We got extremely lucky with Tonda, if he is the man he's seeming to be.

Like I say I won't make that judgement until next season and I think even the neutrals would agree with me on that one. A fresh season away from all this spying stuff and to see what players we sell/he brings in and wether we can do it again.

Thats a fair assessment i'd say. Not madness in the slightest.

01 Apr 2026 08:36:45
To win games you need to score goals. so many conversations on here about needing a striker, lack of goals . and now what a difference. It's now not a case of who will score but rather, who isn't going to score!
From fullbacks to midfield to attack. all getting into goal scoring positions.
At any other time I would never given us a chance against Arsenal . but we have so many options from near post headers, to scoring from dead ball situations, to wonder strikes to clever touches .
Come on Saints

SouthHantsRich2

25 Jan 2026 14:04:01
Too many wayward passes
Too many loose tackles
Gave Pompey way too much space
Sat too deep
Game plan? Not sure there was one
Very, very disjointed football .
Aziz playing too deep .
Poor football

SouthHantsRich2

1.) 25 Jan 2026 18:21:58
You can't really judge a derby game.

Derbies are like the Mike Tyson quote of getting punched in the face when trying to stick to a plan.

Fans and pressure will always be on the players back so all in all, considering we nearly won that game I'd take a point.

What's more worrying are the results/performances prior to this game and the likelihood of them continuing.

No point sacking Tonda regardless because they haven't/won't have put any thought of who to bring in to replace him.

I say keep him in the job till summer now and spend all this time carrying on with the search for the replacement they should have bought in to replace Still.

.or do what I said and bring back Still to see out the summer and see if things turnaround for him.

2.) 25 Jan 2026 21:33:32
Lesleee, just when I think you’re making sense you revert to this totally illogical obsession about Still.

The boy was totally out of his depth.

And yes you can judge players in derby games. Have they got the bottle to fight a good fight - do they know what it really means to wear the shirt?

I watched the game from a hotel bar in Rio de Janeiro before visiting Christ the Redeemer which overlooks the home of football - the Maracanna Stadium (rather than St Mary’s) .

Trouble is distance doesn’t dampen the disappointment (as St John will testify! )

3.) 26 Jan 2026 01:28:52
Millertime!
S
I agree totally …
Technically we might be a good ish bunch of players, but as a team we are playing disjointed, almost amateurish football. I saw more misplaced passes in one game than you’d expect to see all season. As for hoofing it out of defence? A tactic I last heard from my sports master when I was 6!
For some reason we have broken up the interplay, the triangles. aziz and Armstrong worked well together. It made AA a much better player than he is! Aziz was scoring for fun. scienza was the other part of the triangle and it was causing havoc. I now see now interplay between these, except for the pass that put scienza through.
the core tactics of the team have changed dramatically.
And as for Stephens marauding up the pitch? What
He is not even a great defender let alone an attacking one! Meanwhile fellows sits on the bench.

We were passing, not to players in great positions, but players in dangerous positions. Not in dangerous attacking positions but in defence!

Yes I know we put a few good tackles in, some stupid! But wow wee, was this the highlight of the game? No it’s shouldn’t have been .

As for hoofing the ball around like a local pub team, awful!

Stewart came on a spent most of the game is some bizarre attacking midfield position, or even out wide.

Whatever sport I ever competed in, there was one golden rule. When you are playing an inferior opponent, don’t reduce your game to their standard!
Well we certainly tried to. and to be fair to Pompey they had much more of a game plan than we did, they also had overlapping players, players out wide, off the ball runners . meanwhile we are playing some clueless football!

4.) 26 Jan 2026 08:17:00
Hey Millertime trust you had a great time. on Copacobana Beach whiich didn’t detract you from your primary secret undercover mission of identifying about ten quality players and send their details to St.Mary’s for a follow up!

5.) 26 Jan 2026 12:01:27
Didn’t he do the same with Martin. The obsession (in order) seems to be the managerial bounce, Will Still and Martin.

6.) 26 Jan 2026 15:24:57
It’s funny you say that St John because as I strolled along Copacabana Beach, I marvelled at the locals (boys and girls) playing beach volleyball using their feet and heads only. Incredible first touch and spatial awareness. I thought no wonder they are technically brilliant footballers.

It seems a long time since the “it’s just like watching Brazil” charts from the terraces!

7.) 28 Jan 2026 05:11:36
In hindsight what a chaotic glaring mistake not selecting Michael Carrick when the open opportunity presented. Apperently he has sorted out Man Utd. Players toxic dressing room (similar to Saints) witthin days of his arrival.I doubt he would re-consider Saints position at seasons end should he not be retained by United. With regards to transfers I have a gut feeling that should Armstrong move along SFC may for young Chelsea C/F (recently brought back from loan at Strasbourg FC) Kendry Pa’ez.Russian A/M Aleksey Batrako also look a promising player if he should be released this window, plus a couple of quality C/D and a competent left back and we’re in business with a goalkeeping review at season’s end.

17 Jan 2026 17:22:38
It doesn't not matter which manager it is, suicidal back passes, consistently poor man marking, atrocious tracking of a player, very poor positional play, poor reading of a game. are unforgivable for professional footballers.

Week in week out I see players with all these qualities. poor qualities .

It's a joke!

I am fully aware that you think Tonda should stay,
But just like your obsession before with Martin and then still, you are obsessed that de spying is the reason we did so well
You have given no valid reasons to support that
To suggest his spying is the key to his success is without any proof
The fact that you are able to watch opponent play anywhere in the world says it's an acceptable part of football, that is a fact
The fact that you can watch your opponent 73 hours before a game, but not 72 hours before a game make it a crazy
The fact that top European clubs are interested in him plus a background with the German national side and Bayern Munich speaks volumes
Well without sounding rude, you are obsessed with the fact this spying proves Tonda is not as good as we all think he is

He is a remarkable young manager, albeit naive
He has got players playing way better than previous managers
He does something the other managers for years have failed to do, just tactics based on adjustments in opponents tactics

You need to clear your mind of this matter

He has to stay and him and the players will be determined to wrong the scandalous decision

There should be no other choice than Tonda
The players love him
The fans love him
The fans love the way he had us playing

There is one among us that believes the cheating had considerable impact on our season
the rest of us do not think like that
If the manager watched every single team team 73 hours before we played them
We would all say well done

Just think about it
The only league in the world with this rule
So it is an accepted part of football throughout the world except for. the EFL

I will say it again
I think the players will rally together to prove to the football world how good we are

There appears to be a lot of virtue signalling going on here!
Let's get on and look forward to next season!
I have no doubt all teams watch the opponents, they just don't and won't admit.

The punishment was disgusting and I have no doubt at all a certain Middleborough person was behind it.

As another has said, there are way worse things going on in football and the punishment is way less.
Surely 'cooking the books' to keep you within financial regulations is way more severe??
Especially as it enabled that team to have players they would otherwise not have.

So let's stop all this virtue signalling nonsense and be excited about the season ahead!

But the club have spoken and given full support to Tonda
He clearly has the full support of the players or the owner would not consider keeping him

This has been blown all out of proportion

Let's all be excited about next season

I know we have a manager capable getting us off our seats and enjoying football
