Thoughts on Loic Remy rumour? do we think it would be a good or bad buy?

1.) 17 Jul 2017 14:03:42
Sorry but injury prone, hasn't really played for a couple of seasons. and just not the Southampton type. Plenty good strikers out there, do Saints want to go that bit extra and pay the fees.

2.) 17 Jul 2017 15:56:44
No no no.

3.) 18 Jul 2017 01:34:33
Was class with Austin up top at QPR.

So it looks like we are linked with a couple of players already. Yann Karamoh from Caen and Stuart Armstrong from Celtic. Karamoh is a pacey winger who can play up front. MP seems keen to get him on board asap which is good to see. Plus for 8.75m (Eur) seems good value - at only 18 he could have some serious potential. Stuart Armstrong looks an interesting one. Solid Midfielder with a goal or two in him. We have a good history with Celtic players so you never know, could be a real coup. we'll see I guess, might not get either but they are realistic targets which is good. On a side note, anyone else feeling strangely positive for the coming season?

My friends son works for SSN - he seems to think Joe hart to Saints is a done deal (! ) - If true, this would be a very interesting signing. Thoughts?

{Ed002's Note - There is no "done deal" for Joe Hart.}

1.) 20 Apr 2017 09:47:35
I must admit I was rather sceptical when I was told. I would be very surprised if it happened.

{Ed002's Note - There is no doubt his time at Manchester City is coming to an end and Torino would like to be able to do something. His representatives have the permission of the club to look for a new club for Hart and will be talking to other sides to see what options are available.}

2.) 23 Apr 2017 13:06:42
If, and that is a big if, Joe Hart is linked to us, it would only be in Fraser was off, even then it would be unlikely that Hart will come here. I rate him and a keeper but we would have to pay big wages for him. I'm happier with what we have personally.

Just read we could be interested in Jagielka. Thoughts? at 34 I think he still has something to offer but just a temporary fix until someone else is brought in.

1.) 23 Jan 2017 16:13:35
Puel said 'no comment' when asked if we were in for him.

2.) 23 Jan 2017 16:57:05
Florin Gardos will be given his chance. Don't expect any Fonte replacement!

3.) 23 Jan 2017 19:20:59
Sorry Ed meant Molla Wague?

4.) 24 Jan 2017 04:23:10
Donola I think you are right.
No Fonte replacement this window.
1/ because we tend not to do business in January
2/ it's highly likely VVD will be gone in the summer so I'm sure the black box is working for a long term solution .

I actually think we won't do anything this transfer window.

5.) 24 Jan 2017 12:10:28
I'd take jagielka as cover till end of the season

6.) 24 Jan 2017 13:41:40
We have a great opportunity for Stephens to play alongside VVD and learn from him. That would be my preferred partnership if we get no one in this month.

7.) 24 Jan 2017 17:58:56
At least we aren't linked with Lescott and Samba.

Saints linked with the following:

Olivier Ntcham - Celtic - I like this one, especially as we could use Elyounoussi as part of the deal and/ or a straight swap

Tom Davis - Everton - Probably a loan to buy is likely with this one. Not overly inspiring but could be another gem like Ings so time will tell here

Florentino Luis - Benfica - Well this really would be a catch but I think he'll be out of our financial reach and other big clubs may be preferred. That said he would be the ideal replacement for PEH

Jovane Cabral - Sporting CP - I don't know much about him but I've read he is a pacey winger with a decent cross on him. We are apparently in negotiations so i assume the idea will be more service for Ings/ Adams and provide more balance across midfield.

Sadly Its all gone quiet regarding another CB - I think we had hoped we'd get Rick Karsdorp from Roma but he looks to be staying

I have everything crossed that we pull something out the bag before the end of the transfer period. we desperately need 2 midfielders, a creative and a defensive and another CB ideally as its an area we are sorely lacking options if we get injuries.

1.) 23 Sep 2020 13:55:49
Would like to see Florentino Luis come in. Not sure about Ntcham. He seems to blow hot and cold. Tom Davies would be ok on our bench. I think that Maureen at Spurs is looking at Cabral.

2.) 23 Sep 2020 16:26:42
Ntcham - would take but think we could/ should be able to find better.

Davies - no ta

Luis - headed to Monaco

Cabral - yes please if we can get him, he and Djenepo on the wings would be lovely

Regarding CBs, Hoedt is off on loan to Lazio and they can buy him back next summer. Carrillo I have absolutely no idea what is happening - no one seems to have mentioned him and I’m barely sure he’s still a footballer. But if Boufal and Gunn also go that’s a good lump of dead weight unloaded.

3.) 24 Sep 2020 08:40:58
Saw Weston McKennie debut for Juventus v Sampdoria recently and also Choubury for Leicester v Arsenal. The only similarity is their hairstyles! McKennie was probably m. o. m. -a class above and certainly would have lifted Saints midfield whereas Choubury was average-more borderline (similar JWP) Trusting Ralph succeeds in acquiring a high profile Mid like Florentine Luis in order to effect a big difference. KOM.

Looks like Barcelona and Real Madrid are showing interest in VVD. I hope so. Be glad when he is gone and we can focus on the new season. With those two, Chelsea and Man City now keen there is a good chance we can tell Liverpool to go F**k themselves.

Don't forget we have Djenepo to come back from injury. I think if he can hit the ground running next season and find form without injury, he'll be a huge asset to the team.

I agree we should give the manager time to assess the squad. just don't want to leave it so late in the window and buy from the scraps that are left - meanwhile all the better players go elsewhere and potentially to rivals. If teams around you strengthen then more often than not you need to strengthen too. unless you have an amazing team already.

Agreed. I know that 99% of players that we are linked to is just media hype. However, personally I do worry when other teams challenge us for signings, we almost always lose out and its not to the big big teams but teams in and around us. I know we can't sign everyone but surely 1 or 2.That said most of our signings are under the radar (Mane is a good example) so perhaps I should just chill. I dunno, I guess i'm just not left feeling confident during the transfer window/ s.

Looks like he could be a good acquisition if he adapts to the PL. However I see West Ham and Crystal Palace are monitoring him. I always worry when other clubs are interested in players we have an eye on. Other clubs seem more determined than us to sign players, whereas we tend to look elsewhere as soon as competition comes along.

{Ed002's Note - Schalke, Sevilla and Southampton all have an interest in Munir El Haddadi with Southampton discussing his price with a third party representing Barcelona. Crystal Palace and Everton have asked again about a loan but Barcelona want to sell. The interest of PSG has gone.}

I have been a fan of Sigurdsson for a while now. If we are lucky enough to get him then it would be a definite and positive improvement to the squad.
