Heard that Liverpool have offered £70 million, Sakho and Ings for VvD, for 2018. We get 10 million now, and Sakho and Ings, they get VvD next season.
This was from a Manchester United fan, not sure of the actual source.

Player swap deals are rare I can't see us getting two I think Ings would be great for us, he should of came here instead of Liverpool tbh.

2.) 29 Aug 2017 19:53:26
Why would we want Sakho? 7 CBs?

3.) 29 Aug 2017 20:55:07
Sakho is a great defender if his head is in the right place. We would buy to improve our starting 11 if VVD goes. The amount of CBs is immaterial if 5 out of the 7 aren't top premier league standard. Bit like our "nearly good" attacking mids. Loads there but none top drawer consistently.

4.) 29 Aug 2017 22:23:56
If this is even half true I'll eat my own ears.

5.) 29 Aug 2017 23:14:01
Sorry but that just sounds like a ridiculous deal. Total value well over 100m (per Liverpool's Sakho valuation), incredibly complex (the kind of deal that only happens in fans' imagination) and I really don't think we'd replace VVD if he left - Hoedt was brought in for that reason, whether VVD goes this year or next.

Asked Eds about Player deals a few months ago and got a really detailed reply - they said they're as good as impossible. If any deal with players going each way happened they would be separate deals, especially at the end of the window when everything needs to be rushed through to an extent.

All this said, as a fan my imagination says 50-55 mil + Origi (or two separate deals to that effect) seems like a bit of a win-win, even though I'd prefer a CAM to a ST for Saints.

Just been reading the BBC gossip page and seeing the distinct lack of rumours (I know we do everything under the radar) putting it out there for discussion.
Jack Wilshire anyone!
Wages would be the issue, and wonder whether it's the Arsenal training regime that makes him (and everyone else) injury prone.
Other than that, Wilfred Bony to replace Graziano finally.
I'm sure the Ed's will smack me down.

{Ed001's Note - it is more his lifestyle that is the problem. He is extremely unprofessional. Added to that, his touch is awful, which leads to a lot of injuries caused by overstretching to control the ball, win it back or because someone has seen a bad touch and clatters him trying to win the ball. Never will understand what people see in such a terrible player who was barely able to move out of the centre circle last season. Bournemouth looked a much better side without him in the side.}

1.) 19 Jul 2017 08:29:52
Hasn't stopped lukaku going to Man U or Barkley possibly going to tottingham.

2.) 19 Jul 2017 09:56:31
Austin replaced pelle about 6 months before we sold him. same as romeu replaced wanyama 6 months before we sold him to spurs. Bony is pony what's he done for the last 3 years. And ed is right, Bournemouth actually started winning again once wilshere was dropped. He's over rated.

3.) 19 Jul 2017 11:03:39
Fair play Ed001. MS, did Austin really replace Pelle?, because he is, sadly injury prone. Bony, before he went to Citeee, was a menace at Swansea, if we could find that in him worth a look?
Anyway I'm sure the black box will reveal all.

4.) 19 Jul 2017 12:34:40
Yeah he was. Even eds will vouch that's how we lined it up for pelle and wanyama.

We've got gabbiadini and Austin competing, long as back up and Gallagher as the youth option. That's a perfect setup. Austin is injury prone, think his lifestyle has a lot to do with that but we got him very cheap. Maybe if he has a decent season for us we'll try and get a decent fee for him.

We just need to hit the ground running, pellegrini will hopefully sort our pattern of play out and instill a bit more confidence up top.

5.) 19 Jul 2017 15:57:59
I truly hope so Milky, just got a feeling we are going to get more of the same old style of play of last season where trying to stop the opposition scoring seemed more important than us scoring. We need an agressive goal scoring midfielder running at them, that changes the other teams set up tactics and makes them nervous. We may have had a million crosses going in to the box last season but we were totally predictable. That has to change .

6.) 19 Jul 2017 17:18:22
Two completely different managers with puel and pellegrini. Last season was the most boring and slow build up play I'd ever seen from us. Pellegrini will get us back to "the southampton way" of pressing, being more aggressive in our build up and actually tailoring our style/ formation etc for who we're playing. Puel wanted us to keep the ball, keep patient, keep a clean sheet and nick a goal with a 30 pass move. but instead we looked disjointed and the front line probably got Pissed off at making runs but never getting the ball. pellegrini will get us back to a unit and a team that plays together from the back to the front. like pochettino did. Cheer up. Gloomier outlook than droopy!

7.) 19 Jul 2017 18:37:28
Fraser signed extension to his contract he must be les'es and dave Watson s love child wtf 😱😱.

8.) 20 Jul 2017 13:55:50
Having said what you have Milky I hope you're right. However Pellegrino played almost an identical style as CP did whilst at Alaves. Just don't see your high pressing game being very apparent from his managerial career so far, do you have any evidence of this? Have I missed it somewhere along the way?

Agree on the options stated and the reasoning. Wouldn't it be amazing though if we got a new owner who wanted to build instead of continually strip for profit. Similar to what's happening at Leicester and to a lesser extent, Villa. We have the manager, just need the right owner.

If we keep with Ralph they have got to provide him with new faces to fit his formation. At the moment drop those who are not performing - Redmond, Bertrand, Vestergard, PEH and JWP. Bring in Vokins, Boufal, Stephens or Yosh, Slattery and Adams. Back in the day Lawrie Mc would have signed Cahill and Toure on frees for decent wages to bring experience to the squad, help in training too. We now need to sign either the best in youth or pay over the top for quality to add. Having said that Ya Ya is still available!

It's a shame because he has talent. I think with Boufal coming back, his chances will be limited.

Think you are right on cost and that he'll be cheaper than Augustin, but Ralph seems to play 2 up top. So Danny to play along side with Redmond to replace Danny when injured, otherwise play supporting. Loosen is a good shout.

Amazing. felt we could get something, but the passion on and off the pitch was amazing. At Mary's was rocking again, welcome back.

Great shout. Been talking about RLC for weeks too, would be awesome to have a double barrelled midfield. Sessegnon would be great too, covers both positions on the left, spurs link with KWP could help. If we got these 2 would be well happy.

VS, agree with what you say about us Brighton and Cardiff. BHA are in free fall, was surprised that they got a point at Wolves and don't expect them to get another. Love him or hate him, Warnock is a character, and if he kept Cardiff in the EPL this season it would be his greatest achievement. Always remember when we were in the Championship, he was manager of Leeds, and we won 1-0. They battered us and Kelvin was man of the match. Watched it on TV and at the end they just cut the sound in time as Warnock "exclaimed" to Nigel "How the fuc. " I assume the ending was . k did you win that. Laughed out loud properly.
We seem safe but need to beat Bournemouth, and I think it'll be tight.
Interesting stat from Sky is that Saint's have lost the most points from a winning position this season, 25. Another thing we need to fix.

I was thinking today how Redmond has changed since Ralph has taken over. I even recalled how Puel said how good he could be. Now he will never be like Henry, but he is taking to this formation and system really well. JWP has surprised me over the last couple of weeks too. More energy and getting in the shots too. Other standouts were Stevens and Bednarek. Surely pants again at the end but feeling confident for season end.

On Shane Long, he's one on the most unselfish players I have ever seen. He is a nightmare to play against. When RK was in charge he was often in the team showing pace and power and goals. Really pleased for him and I think RH will use him more.
On the Everton game, always feel unsure against them but we did them last season, and we are playing better now.
Let's go for a home win, Nat, Shane and Stu to score COYS.
