What is it with our goalkeepers

Put both goals down to him. Two young to play in a struggling team for your first premier league season, especially when we keep changing formation.

Embarrassing beyond belief - JWP needs to be stripped of captaincy and shirt. He’s spent the first half hiding

Just what were they doing during the world Cup shut down. It looks like our players have never met each other. On this evidence there's no way that we will stay in the Premier league even if we sign several players in the transfer window

I’m struggling to think of anything positive out of that.

We were third best in every aspect of the game. Lost 70-30 duels in our favour.

Name one Saints player who would get in the Brighton side because I sure as hell, can’t.

And what other club would appoint Jones given our position. Today wasn’t his fault but he will become a target before too long. We needed someone who knows how to dig a club out of a rather large PL hole.

Jones is a poor mans Paul Sturrock. What are we doing with him? It's a shamble x

I disagree that we haven’t got the players, we have some very good players some of whom could be exceptional. I was prepared to give Jones a chance but 2 games in, tactical naivety bordering on incompetence fills me with trepidation. If we’re going to knock the ball long and high then get a proper centre forward who can compete with the likes of Dunk/ van Dijk and Romero. Upshot is…. 7 points from next 4 games or were down. We will then be stripped of our squad for a fraction of their true market value. Ross Stewart/ Chris Wood or Josh Sargeant might do a job … over to you sports republic.

In the spirit of healthy debate I would say this is the least talented group of players we’ve had since we returned to the PL.

Sure, there’s plenty of potential but that’s a 3 year project - we haven’t got the players to get us out of trouble over the next 5 months.

There is no leadership on the pitch - JWP should take a long look in the mirror.
We are bottom of the league for a reason but just as worrying is the gap in performance levels between us and the rest. The only answer is to strengthen in January.

2408, I hope you’re right and I’m wrong but survival will IMO require a minor miracle and unfortunately Le Tiss hung up his boots a while back

Yesterday's game was an absolute shambles, to reiterate some other opinions We are destined for relegation unless something drastically changes, I think we possibly picked the incorrect manager for this job, we lacked everything on the pitch, we was outplayed and with games coming up I can see us being routed to the bottom of the table. come the Jan transfer window we need to have deals lined up now. We need to identify tactics and style of play, formation 4-2-2-2 or 4-2-3-1 possibly changing to 4-3-3 if needed. Out of the current squad in starting XI KWP, Salisu, Kotchap JWP, Edozie, Aribo and Stuart Armstrong. I would have Adam Armstrong as well to try and work with his pace/work rate. We would need to look for replacements in all other positions in Jan.

Can you please tell me Saint Bag what JWP brings to the team? I’m being serious…

Obviously he is gifted from a dead ball situation, but teams know all about it and so his impact with free kicks and corners is diminishing. Our former free kick experts E.g. Le Tiss and Lambert offered so much more in open play.

His open play is dire in terms of impact. His stats on passes completed are probably very impressive but that’s because 80% of his passses go sideways or backwards.

IMO we should have taken the 40 mil or whatever it was when teams came knocking - his value has probably halved in the last year.

Caleta - Car, 26 years old 350 games at Salzburg and Marseille. Was regular centre back for Croatia before he fell out with the Marseille manager and was dropped which lost him his place in the national team. Never seen a lift weight Croatian footballer. There’s your leader and a very fine player imo.

I wouldn’t disagree with you, trouble is he’s not getting much game time. We need leaders across the pitch ….

Do you remember when we fielded 5 former England captains in the same game?

If memory serves - Shilton, Mills, Watson, Channon and Ball.

Do correct me if I’ve got one or two wrong here

You are correct about the 5 former captains. The current team is too nice, we need Romeu back! Cannot understand us letting him go and for no fee! Let’s hope Lavia is fit soon and we start playing Caleta car.
