Just got home after watching that absolute disgrace! A 6 pointer against a local rival to attempt to save yor season and THAT is what you offer! Absolutely shocking and barring lavia every single person associated with that effort tonight needs to take a long hard look at themselves and doesn't deserve to wear the shirt or represent the club! I have left saints games plenty angry/disappointed in the past like we all have but to leave tonight with the feeling of f. them.

I'm past caring is the worst feeling possible as a fan! Deserve championship football and without a total reset (get rid of ankersen, selles, half the playing squad) we will be there until the day I snuff it! Felt were were always up against it but to do that in a game of that significance.Absolutely devastated: (

Jesuuuuus christ! If the michael keane rumours have even a shred of accuracy to them then we really are doomed. A guy who can't get a game for a team as bad as we are and a manager as equally out of his depth as our own. Can only hope that it is no more than paper talk and the signings we do make can make a difference. I won't hold my breath but just something to try and be positive about would be a start

Don't hold your breath.we have a degree in purchasing donkeys.ad Micheal Keane is very high on the list of em. But an even worse one when it comes to coaches. Just look who's sat in our dugout

2.) 10 Jan 2023 09:56:25
Rant time! We buy a 30 year old Croatian who has never played, apart from a disastrous year in Italy 8 years ago, at a high standard of football in his career. But …… he played in the World Cup…. let’s get him he’s the answer! 2 goals in 28 internationals tells you how effective he is against quality opponents. Then ……. let’s emulate Brighton, let’s buy a relatively unknown youngster from South America…… he’s the answer! Wtf is wrong with our recruitment department! We needed 3 experienced players in the squad in the summer, it’s probably too late now. I was shocked at how bad Caleta Car looked at Palace so now we can probably discount him as a leader. Get Bednarek back, recruit a minder for midfield and a proper centre forward and we have got an outside chance of escaping relegation so long as Jones leaves asap, if this current plan continues we are down.

3.) 10 Jan 2023 10:34:03
Ad still no sign of a quality striker? We have big problems

4.) 10 Jan 2023 22:23:03
Can't buy quality for £15M. There are people calling for Ings back but he's not the answer. He didn't want to be here so he went to a " bigger club " where he's hardly pulling up trees.

5.) 11 Jan 2023 07:17:35
Would love to see ings bk he only went to a bigger club for the money.ad like most things the grass isn't always greener. he played the best football of his career here. Surely that counts for something? He's what we need someone who can grab the game by the struff of the neck.not all these overated unexperienced kids.

6.) 11 Jan 2023 13:30:00
It’s amazing everyone knows what players think and why they leave. Would take ings back in a heartbeat but need someone else with his injury record

7.) 11 Jan 2023 15:41:36
Trouble is he has prem experience ad we no he can score goals. Ok he will cost 25-30 million but right now it's all about digging yourself out of a hole. Can't keep taking chances with kids doesn't work. Any one decent your looking at 50 million plus. What a someone like tammy Abraham?

8.) 19 Jan 2023 11:54:48
Think we just have to trust in the recruitment it's all well and good saying about our signings not being tried tested and good enough but we've scouted these players and I'm sure our scouts have a much more accurate opinion of these players than our rants. The truth is we look likely to go down. There's some real quality in our squad and up until the last three games it's not quite clicked. I think a massive bid for takam moffi would have been my route and a second player in attacking midfield but we know nothing about these players we're bringing in. Let's just get behind them and Jones and we can put our 10 pence in at the end of the season. Our fate is in the hands of our staff and players so let's do our bit and support the decisions they make until its certain we will stay up or go down. It's easy to throw mud when things aren't going well but that's when our support is needed most. COYR

Haven't posted in a good while but having heard martin in his post match I feel compelled to vent. To come out and say we played well and he doesn't know how it ended up 5 zip shows Nathan Jones levels of delusion. We were a shambles from min 1 to 90 and his total lack of any ability to change team or tactics is staggering. I understand you have a philosophy and want to stick to it, but so does arteta and he changed team and tactics to get a solid point away to city. The definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over and expect different results.Martins picture should be framed next to that definition. You try to stay positive as a saints fan (it's pre requisite from birth lol) but Jesus they make it hard sometimes!

It was obvious to me, and many! That the team was set up wrong from the start. RM as usual changes nothing . Leicester were actually a pleasure to watch. I enjoy good football and Leicester were worthy of their win

I don't understand why martin keeps banging on about "bravery" when he himself doesn't have the plums to field our "bravest" 11. Sulemanna and alcaraz sit on the bench while fraser and smallbone start. Charles the poor kid is stuck at cb when quite clearly he is never a cb and would be better sitting at cdm infront of bednarek and thb. Manning and Adam Armstrong are utter tosh and shouldn't be near starting 11. Hopefully larios is fit soon to relieve manning of his duties? You can't force square pegs in round holes, you want to play possession based football but we from the evidence don't have the players to do so. So where does he go from here? On the evidence we've seen, not far. He clearly won't change his philosophy (which I can understand to a point) but he clearly also doesn't seem to have the ability or tactical nous to tweak or adjust said philosophy to help players succeed. Looks like we have another Ralph/Jones where its plan a then plan a and if that fails follow it with plan a! The definition of insanity is repeating the same thing but expecting different results and at this point I'm starting to think from sports republic at the top to the bottom sfc might be just that. Probably include us fans in that to for sticking with it all:):)

When martin first came in I thought it was a strange one but willing to give him benefit of doubt. Couldn't of been easy to manage through that window either without knowing what your playing squad was going to look like, constant speculation, unsettled players etc and I actually thought he handled it pretty well. HOWEVER the last 2 games have been serious alarm bells to borderline frightening. The team selection is a million miles off and i stick by my previous posts of u can't play downes and smallbone in same midfield. Manning is awful and picking adams, fraser, edozie and Armstrong in same 11 is a joke. You want to play possession based football but you leave our bravest ball player in alcaraz on the bench. The defending is beyond a joke. I thought last year was bad but somehow it's got worse. The 4th goal sums it up, I know you r trying to get back in the game but REAAAALLY, i've seen better on a Sunday morning. But worst of all like a couple have already mentioned was the post match interview. To think it was a good game between 2 good side and it only came down to being less clinical is frightening and comes down to either delusion or arrogance. Most managers would have said "the last 2 games have been unacceptable and I take responsibility for not putting team in best situation" etc but to come out with that utter toilet is ridiculous. It's hugely worrying and if he doesn't change (you've don't have to change principals, just make small tweaks) and do something drastically at the defensive end we are going to be in for another long season: (

After reading several comments.I must sayI tended to agree with Murph st raven with respect to Martins inherited position. However fast forward two heavy losses and it appears no progress has been made on both team selection and remedying major fault lines.Ibelieve we need a new Head Coach and complete new coaching team capable of recognising problem solving with a few tweaks which would bring out the best in our players. It is very critical that any prospective candidate has a very strong coaching. team around them.Following 2408 suggested replacement selection I too offer my preferences. The first two candidates I originally posted as suggestions prior to Martins appointment.1/Jon Dahl Tomasson Blackburn Rovers) (Danish International)2/Steven Schumacher (Plym.Argyle)3/Ryan Lowe (Preston N.E)4/Kieran McKenna (Ipswich Town) .An in depth search of all variables would be a pre requisite with a listed candidates appear to have tight rock solid teams around them to meet the criteria -but time waits for no man! Finally a change tack-what a joy to watch Brighton&HA’s brilliant Coach Roberto. De Zerbe masterclass implementing his No fear tactics playing out from the back and attacking on the wings and through the centre at lightening speed and so destroying Man.Utd.in the process! So SFC Fans we have to believe that if we act with positive conviction right now we too may be able to land a young Manager with a similar potential to Roberto De Zerbe!

2.) 18 Sep 2023 18:27:50
I like your choices but with the exception of Schumacher I don’t think we would get any of them.

Knew we were getting done (not 5 zip admittedly) as soon as I saw the starting 11. Holgate is poor as is manning and the midfield of smallbone, downes and Armstrong was a ridiculous call. Totally unbalanced and with 2 of the same player and Armstrong is never a cm in a midfield 3. If adams is OK to come on then he is OK to start as mara offers nothing. To have 68 percent possession but ship 18 shots is ludicrous and shows after 5 games we have already been found out. If rm persists with plan a and plan a only then at least start the strongest most balanced 11 possible

Murph st raven

1.) 03 Sep 2023 07:24:25
Completely agree and excellent analysis.

I am curious who you think our strongest and most balanced 11 is?

2.) 03 Sep 2023 14:10:15
Hard at the mo I suppose as don't know the headspace of players like sulemanna and fitness of Stephens and thb and larios but I would go (if all fit)

Bazunu (but barely)

Kwp, Stephens, thb, larios

Downes, Charles, alcaraz

Sulemanna, adams, edozie

Balanced with Charles sitting and alcaraz and downes taking turns to go forward. Che hold up play and edozie and sulemanna allowed to run at their man every now and again rather constantly keeping possession and working back inside. Got legs, ball players and on paper at least not many stronger 11's in the championship

3.) 03 Sep 2023 15:21:58
I would second that line up.

Gives us scope to tweak to a 4-2-3-1 for more defensive stability against the good sides or 3-4-1-2 to get Stewart or AA on the pitch too (Manning out) when chasing a game.

I saw most of Sunderlands goals were a header or shot outside the box, skills we have been lacking - hope Stewart and Alcaraz can fix that.

And that ladies and gents is why we are bottom of the table. Walcott, adams, elyanoussi, stew (I am a fan in fairness in the right 11) and jwp to start today as 5 of your midfield/attack is so unbelievably toothless that teams must be laughing before we even kick off. No movement, no finishing, no final ball/end product and essentially no pace (Walcott still has a little over first 5 yards haha). I would love to see a weeks training to see what these managers have in warranting starts to certain players time after time. With our staring 11 today I will bite your hand off for a point!

Would have to agree to disagree with those thoughts. I believed Ralph's time was up, and performances were only going one way and looked like he had lost the players and dressing room and believe he also would have taken us down. Who should shoulder the blame is whoever thought Jones would be a capable replacement? How a man, who had he been left in the job, could quite possibly of taken Stoke into league 1 could possibly been seen as capable of managing in the Premier league truly blows my mind. I thought give him the benefit of doubt and 6 week break during World Cup to implement ideas and systems and who knows. But obviously the man is sooooo out of his depth it's unreal and the football really is the stuff if nightmares. If he does go then whoever appointed him should be leaving with him: (
