My 2ps worth is we have been downgraded on players for many years now and its not the managers fault for results at the moment. we have tried changing the manager over and over but we need to look at recruitment of players and what is going on with the board. maybe a year or 2 in the championship will do us good and the club can get back to core values of using the academy and smart young signings from Europe. sacking another manager will not solve the clubs problems.

100% valid lostsaint! Left with trying to fit square pegs in round holes.Hoping that January is an opportunity towards somewhat rectifying this dilemma! KOM.

A lot of speculation about Management change.Although I am supportive of giving Will Still more time of the possible replacement candidates mentioned by reporters I would definitely select one of my previous choices Liam Rosenior, Michael Carrick or John Eustace ( Derby County) as I would assume Frank Lampard not interested due to his current success. KOM.

I would give the manager the whole season. Those managers will not want the job. Write this season off bed in the academy players, we have been desperate for a striker and a GK for ages spend time getting these positions sorted. Get rid of all the dead wood and form a strong spine for the team for next season. Chopping and changing the manager has not worked try a bit of stability give time to build a side.

Saturday will be tense. Optics matter as much tactics. If Still wants this job, he has to go 4 2 3 1 and start Scienza, Fellows, Armstrong and Azaz, then give Robinson decent minutes.
If he leaves fan favourites out, sets up defeatist, makes strange subs or looks lost, then the crowd could turn.

Whilst patience is something we could all do having more of, there are a few issues with this.
1- Still had an entire window to bring in the players he wanted, get rid of those he didn’t, and the side that started vs Swansea only had three regulars from last year. He had a full pre season and plenty of money to spend, more than Bristol City who also changed manager.
It seems he didn’t know what formation he wanted and went half and half, leaving a lot of players playing out of position on the regular. Fraser, Fellows, Azaz, Armstrong, Edwards, Stephens have all been played OOP.
2- We’ve won four league games in 50. The majority are sick of a side who were one of the great example of how to run a football club less than a decade ago. We’re now a laughing stock filled with losers. Still seems set on blaming the finishing, individual errors, nothing about rectifying things. It’s bizarre.
3- we’re 20th in the league. We’ve won twice, both times luckily. It might not be a simple case of seeing the season out - I’m seeing people saying ‘might have to settle for play offs at best’. I believe we are in a relegation battle.
Failed to beat Derby, Swansea, Hull, Blackburn, Portsmouth, Watford or Stoke. These were all sides touted as being bottom half in August.
Yes he’s only had 15 games, but we’ve only won 4. Pre-season, looking at it you’d have expected 8-10. I think our next two home games will decide the immediate future. If we don’t win either of Preston or Sheff Wed, Still has to go.
Who to get in? No idea. Genuinely wouldn’t say no to Warnock at this stage. No more young risks. Someone needs to get amongst these players and sort them out. No more ‘he’s my mate’ etc. Someone to manage this lot.
We’re below Wrexham, Derby, Oxford, Portsmouth. It isn’t good enough. Happy to turn it around, and I hope they do, but currently I’d take 21st in May because we can’t hit a barn door from a yard away.

Spot on SaintGGsy, I personally can’t see it working for Will Still but the points must come quick given the time and money he has had.

Until your post SaintGGsy I thought I was in a minority of one.
Before a ball was kicked I said we are more likely to go down than up. It’s not just a lack of quality it’s a culture that has become insidious. The attitude and lack of bravery is unforgivable. It’s not rocket science to predict Boy Still won’t cut it - he’s just out of his depth. Like everyone else I would love to see him turn things round but it’s not going to happen any time soon.
To be honest we wouldn’t even dig up trees in League 1 because there is no team spirit. We probably will beat Preston on Saturday but that changes nothing.
We need an experienced manager to come in - one who can kick ass and instill confidence. My only surprise is that I thought Lanana would have a big impact in the dug out - but evidently not.

The reason Still won’t turn it round is that he does not have the experience or tactical awareness.
To be a god manager you need to setup your team to play against the opponent. Each opponent is different, very different. It might be subtle differences like 5/4 at the back etc or less subtle ones like a fast midfield, fast wingers, tall CBs.
you have to setup your team up to beat the opponent.
But more importantly you have to be able to react and change tactics, players and formation at an instant.
Opposing managers seem way too clever for our succession of managers. A change in wing positions, to pushing the midfield up, spreading the front line. they all need immediate changes.
Still does not have a clue, he simply isn’t experienced enough. He tweeks, he makes substitutions, but they seem random hopeful changes.
Football is now full of elite athletes, defenders are skilful, clever, agile.
This is no time to learn your trade . he needed to know it already.
We have simply gone for the wrong manager.
We play occasionally clever football but mostly predictable . and that makes us easy to play against and beat

It's nice to here others opinions. Will Still will probably get the boot soon just think we need some stability, someone to give us some identity and a system to ply by. We look lost and it's sad to see.
