Sam Gallagher is ready . don't underseaimate the guy, he was more than okay 3 years ago under Poch. Blood him, he will not let us down!
Look at Stevens, truth is. with out VVD getting injured he would not have got a start. Now he is solid as rock and a very good player (which he was anyway but hadn't been given the chance to prove it)
Sam can be our Pelle, sell Shane Long, bench Sam, play him in cup games and "Maketh the Man"
Just anted to say . what a great shame that Jake Flannigan has suffered yet again. he was looking real quality and to have an operation on Wednesday is tearible for him (and Saints) we will look after him because we are a quality club with Ethics, Morals and Determination.
Kruger is showing that he is the right man for me, thank you for the BBC interview, you are doing a fantastic job both individually and as a Board.

I actually agree completely and think the only difference between a player out on loan to championship . marked as the clubs saviour and that same player sat on the bench in the premiership not getting game time and almost not needed is confidence. I reckon if Gallagher started 20 games this year he'd get 8 goals. admittedly not setting the world alight but still.

Southampton FC have matched the €17 Million valuation of Lazio's Wesley Hoedt.

Player is pushing for the move; expect a medical before Gameweek 2 and an official announcement sometime after the West Ham game.

Wesley Hoedt is a Dutch International centre-back of whom is very good friends with Virgil Van Dijk through the national team set-up. Can't help but think this may be a way of easing tensions between VVD and the Board while also filling the void left by José Fonte in January.

This could see us looking to shift Gardos on as he is the epitome of first team dead-wood. Only stumbling block could be that he is very much liked all around the club.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

16 Aug 2017 16:42:32
Wesley Hoedt and Mauricio Lemos both looked at.

Also expecting a Winger/ attacking midfielder to be added before the transfer window shuts. First choice earlier in the window was Jacob Murphy who was heading to Saints before Newcastle increased there offer.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2017 17:36:59
If Murphy honestly chose Newcastle ahead of saints 1 we wouldn't want him 2. His advisors should be sectioned.
Harris has been so unlucky with injury and looked good before then. Hoedt comes in can see VVD going as can't see us keeping 5 cb's. We need to start boufal and if he comes good don't need a winger it's hard when u have part game time as the pressure is on to do something quickly. He needs a run and tadic needs to be told to pick up or move on. Although to be fair no surprise his game has gone down without pelle as a target/ hold up man.

Murphy is a Newcastle fan. Lemos would be class, would be another defender that can take a decent free kick!

Looking at current rumours the Chelsea want in for Cedric a deal worth 15m. Do you know if there is any truth behind this Eds?

{Ed002's Note - He has been discussed on a number of occasions but I am not aware of an offer at this time.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

16 Aug 2017 13:17:17
Even if he goes surley not for 15m.

Eds the Liverpool fans saying VVD could still get done and that Saints might be waiting to see if Lpool qualify for CL and if they do they wouldn't stand in his way. This sounds ridiculous to me and deluded. Do you think there is any truth in this at all? Sorry to ask but they all seem to think so!

{Ed002's Note - All sorts of things can happen.}

Hi Eds,

It's been very quite on the south coast and less leaks then usual so I was wondering if by chance we could get a detailed report on potential targets?

From your information provided it appears the following has serious interest, but do you have anything new as these don't appear to be going anywhere quickly are the other preferred?

Wimmer
P. Roberts.

{Ed002's Note - Emre Mor is again available and Southampton may look to him again as an option to Patrick Roberts. Kevin Wimmer and Ben Gibson are seen as potential replacements for Virgil van Dijk. Wesley Hoedt might be an alternative but I cannot confirm the suggested offer for him by Southampton. Vietto is a strange one and Atletico will now let him leave this summer. Puel had shown interest before but I don't know if that remains.}

Emre mor yes please!

Agree2 Disagree0

16 Aug 2017 16:16:01
Ed002 is Emre Mor only available for loan or to purchase as saints don't seem to take the loan route anymore without an option to buy?

Would you say if wimmer and Gibson are seen as VVD replacements is the interest (if it's genuine) in Hoedt to strengthen the squad rather than to replace VVD? (Fonte replacement maybe? ) .

{Ed002's Note - They are ideally looking to loan him.}

Well the takeover is done. 80% shareholder. I fear this is a big mistake and pray to every god ever that i be proved wrong. This is not a billionaire russian/ american/ Arab but a Chinese company that lost money in 2016. Expect VVD to be sold immediately and others on a regular basis. Have a bad feeling about Lander Sports.

Hi guys
Regarding the Takeover it didn't take long for the language to change regarding VVD I know its only roumers but according to Yahoo sports Southampto tell Chelsea and Man City they will have to break the world record for VVD if they want to buy him it was only a week ago VVD is not for sale this summer for any price. Is this a clue to what the future holds for southampton?

disilusioned.

Agree0 Disagree3

14 Aug 2017 21:07:13
isn't the world record 200 million now? Essentially telling them to stump up more than Neymar for a CB worth 1/ 4 of that at most

If I walked up to you and wanted to buy your car and you told me you wanted, let's say £1,000,000 isn't that essentially telling me to f*** off?

Agree4 Disagree0

14 Aug 2017 21:08:40
Is demanding a record fee for a player that is going to leave anyway really a problem? I would argue not.

VVD wants a crack at the title, he isn't going to get that at Saints, and he likes the smell of what the Klopp is cooking. Let him go, but for top dollar.

Agree3 Disagree1

14 Aug 2017 21:46:20

14 Aug 2017 23:37:25
The article I read said we'd told them it had to be 70+ million. I'd take that to be fair, but any less and I'd rather just keep him.

Also to the original poster, it's not Lander Sports that bought us. It's the Gao family (Jisheng Gao) privately - don't know if they have any connection to Lander Sports.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Aug 2017 08:35:16
Gao is the director of lander but as you say the lander deal didn't happen as difficulties pulling the finance from China so gao and his daughter are financing from personal wealth, lander not involved.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Aug 2017 22:35:33
This 80% share deal with Gao sounds good but really in today's terms £210 million pounds seems very little for a PL club with pretty sound finances anyway. I am just wondering whether Katarina is using this as a stepping stone to withdraw completely over the next couple of years.

I feel that having this Chinese involvement may be a way of chucking our cards on the table for speculation from other Asian investors who may want a piece of us in the future. Just an idea of mine which may be completely wrong.

Agree0 Disagree3

16 Aug 2017 13:21:43
Well that told me then 😄.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2017 17:05:56
Not Lander Sports Takeover. There not involved! So you can ease your worries :)

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Aug 2017 17:30:42
So takeover is just gao, not lander and its personal investment being reported? Is this correct eds and what does this mean money available regards transfers, growth etc?
Excuse my ignorance but I don't understand the full workings of business and takeovers and gao personal worth and ability to invest. many thanks in advance to anyone that can help.

{Ed002's Note - It means taht the ownership has changed. Money for transfers comes from what the club earns. FFP limits what they can invest this season although they can throw money at the club next season if they make certain provisions. However, the income is such that it should not be an issue in any case.}}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

14 Aug 2017 18:35:34
Thanks ed, wasn't sure if the fact it wasn't lander ownership would affect any finances. thanks for your time to reply and the info.

{Ed002's Note - The club, like all EPL sides is very healthy given the additional media income (and hence the delay over the price).}

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Aug 2017 17:21:49
80% Chinese owned. Must be a good thing as the ownership of SFC now has some stability. Sort VVD situation out ie keep him and buy a
player who can put the ball in the net then we can successfully move forward.

Would love Gallagher to get a run out on Saturday. Personally think he could've finished some of the chances we had. We're clearly lacking that target man presence of Pelle and Lambert in my opinion and he is the closest we have to that.

Hi Guys,
Re milky saints post Re Tadic, I think if we get a decent offer we should take it, the phrase flatters to deceive sums him up, when we had Pelle, Mane, Wanyama, Schneiderlin their goal scoring and work hid his deficiencies but for me I have never seen him have a good game often enough. His work rate is c--P, the final ball too often not good enough and his goals scored pitiful. Move him on and replace.
VS.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

13 Aug 2017 21:33:56
He played very well on Saturday. Not sure what you're on about really, yes he didn't score enough last year but he created more than enough chances. He worked hard on Saturday too, I think he's underrated.

Agree3 Disagree0

14 Aug 2017 00:16:35
I think it's because we don't have a target man in truth.
Austin is a six yard poacher but no leaping salmon.
Tadic had no problem being one of the highest assisters lol, when pelle was about.
And gabbi is a second striker in truth .
Tadic is a confidence player so with some good games
He will come good
This is why we need to never let the dijk back in.

Agree1 Disagree0

14 Aug 2017 07:41:37
I personally think we need to start with boufal there's no denying the talent he's got but if he's not given the minutes he won't get there and he will get and make goals from nothing and that's what we need.

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Aug 2017 13:16:20
More rumours about Vieto, I think if we played him in behind Gabbiadini or Austin that could be dangerous. Could be a very good signing, any truth in this eds?

{Ed002's Note - There is plenty of interest in Vietto but none I know of from Southampton at all.}

Ed002 - Are Manchester City still not interested in selling Patrick Roberts and only want to loan?

{Ed002's Note - Yes, their preference is for him to get experience at Southampton rather than Celtic but Southampton would rather buy him than simply give experience to another club's player.}

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Aug 2017 14:04:26
Do you think he's likely to end up here ed? and if he does more likely because we give in and loan him or they in and sell him?

Just don't get this talk of refreshing football, entertaining, so different from last season. We had many, many chances to win that game today but in the first half had one effort on goal. The second half they parked the bus and we huffed and puffed but couldn't score.

Get real people no goals again at home, not good enough. The team played well but three players in particular were poor today in particular JWP who still looks less than a top class player. Redmond runs around like a maniac with no end product and Gabbiadini who just couldn't get in to the game. Bertrand was outstanding but apart from that the rest played ok but ran out of ideas.

We played a very average team today and if we don't put away these chances created we will get beaten more often than not. Our record of not scoring at home is shortly going to enter the record books which to be honest is just a disgrace and I think the excuses have just about run out.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

13 Aug 2017 00:01:30
So, was it as bad as last year?
Lots of posters wanted Puel out due to the style of play. And in seasons past we have often struggled to get through a parked bus.
Comments from spectators today we're that the style of play was much better, but maybe another signing, a number 10 maybe, is needed.
I think Gabiadini instead of Tadic and Austin up front is an option.

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Aug 2017 07:27:28
Chris I take it you were at the game. I wasn't but watched it on TV. I thought JWP had a good game. Gabbiadini didn't look that great to me. I've said in the past that I don't think he is everything everyone keeps going on about. Would have preferred to start Austin from the beginning. I do agree with you about Redmond though.
It was much better football to watch. We created 28 attempts on goal during the match to Swanseas 4.
We need to learn to convert them.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Aug 2017 09:04:12
Play Boufal from the start in place of jwp and put Gabbi behind Austin. So they can interchange and work together that's what we need.

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Aug 2017 09:18:59
Cyprus as always I was at the game and yes we did create a lot of chances but only had 2 on target in the whole match. That is not good enough especially for a home game, you would hope for more than that away from home. Believe me JWP had a poor game, caught in possession a few times and no strength to hold the opposition off. Blew two clear cut chances from crosses in the first half, if you are supposed to be as good as people make him out to be he has to do better, he is well known for his crossing ability at set pieces but yesterday couldn't clear the first man on two or three occasions. He was substituted with 20 minutes to go. Other people may have seen his performance differently but I thought he was the poorest player on the pitch yesterday.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Aug 2017 10:36:05
I think it's time for Tadic to be dropped. He slows things down so much and takes all the speed out of our counter attacks.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Aug 2017 11:58:15
One thing which Puel hardly did last season and MP doesn't look like doing is playing 2 up top. Gabs is good at holding up play. He can't run at defenders I'd wanna see two players up front and see if there's a difference. Gabs and long possibly. I don't rate long but him playing Gabs could be affective and if we do sign Vietto thathe could.
We've got a big squad but I'm not convinced MPZ knows the best formation yet. Saying that he's new to the Prem new, doesn't know his team.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Aug 2017 12:56:50
I watched the game, thought we dominated well. If we play like that the goals will come, have faith. Looking forward to seeing Lemina in our team, I think we have to just credit Swansea tbf as they defended very well. On another day we could've had two pens and Tadic/ Yoshida finish the sitters they missed but it wasn't one of those days.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Aug 2017 16:46:25
Thought Prowsey had a great first half yesterday, second half he could influence the game as much due to them parking the bus. Thought he played well further forward.

Agree0 Disagree1

14 Aug 2017 09:58:24
I thought it was just a carbon copy of most games from last season. If they'd have panned the camera and Puel on the touchline, it wouldn't have registered. We only ever have one natural finisher on the field at once, and then hardly ever get the ball to them.

Redmond is great, until he thinks about shooting, then he panics. He needs some mental training to get him to maintain composure when shooting.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2017 15:38:46
Eds do you think that VVD will go to Pool and Sakho come to us. If a player is not wanting to play because their heads been turned, get shot, and in Sakho ready made replacement.

{Ed002's Note - No.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

12 Aug 2017 16:00:09

{Ed002's Note - Why, when Southampton has no interest in him and are working hard on another?}

Agree0 Disagree1

12 Aug 2017 16:37:51
Ed002 do you know who saints are targeting currently, are we only after a defender if VVD is sold as I was informed we were after 4 players this summer with possibly 2 or 3 out (no names tho) .

{Ed002's Note - The priority is a centre back - but I don't think that will be it.}

12 Aug 2017 20:50:42
Ed002 do you expect VVD to go to Liverpool or Chelsea? And do you think Spurs will agree to sell Wimmer I've heard they're reluctant? Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea - Spurs will sell if the right money is offered.}

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Aug 2017 09:07:11
Personally think Wimmer will cost over the top in terms of price! But! That's today's market and he has potential just not playing every week which what he needs. Tbh I think ed right. Though not sure VVD will go to liverhampton because the clubs have had a massive falling out! So city or Chelsea! But I think next season tbh club seem to be playing hardball this year and good on them.
