From what I have seen this evening Benarek is not good enough. Stephens is a better long term option. If van dyke goes we need an experienced partner for him. yoshida was better last year but still a great back up not Saints for the next generation. That being said who ever we buy will be sold in a few years anyway. Main point of my post is that Bednarek is not good enough.

One game isn't not enough and he is 20 or so I have seen plentybof players have a bad game did u see on- chamberlain for England v France wtf was he doing it was like he had never played football before won't stop all trying to sign him.

How many games have you watched him play this season? No offense but an opinion of a player's ability judged on one match doesn't exactly hold enough merit.

Frank de Boer can be crossed off the list - all but sidelined for Palace accoutring to a few sources now.

Last post should have read:

Frank de Boer can be crossed off the list - all but signed for Palace according to a few sources now.

What are peoples thoughts on Pelligrino. as he looks favourite too get the job? Personally his track record looks poor and he seems as negative a tactician as Puel? Personally Viera or Bergkamp seem a more positive gamble.

Does anyone know why he left alaves after such a good season and was he offered a new contract.

I heard he had unfinished business having been relegated with them as a player.

Time to report Liverpool to the PL again I think they are still trying to get Vvd but this time they are using the press and former players some of whom are still employed by the club Ian burridge who works for their tv channel says he thinks virgil should go on STRIKE to force a move through just try it we may even save money by fining him after all we have been paying him 70 grand a week for six months while he's been injured.

Well if he really does want a move so badly then all he has to do is hand in a transfer request in writing and give up his (and his agents) share of the transfer fee. All Liverpool have to do is ASK PERMISSION and pay 75 million pounds and not try to get him on the cheap.

Totally agree with this!

One point I'd like to pull up is this: why do we pay players in the Premier League that are on strike?
Payet is the first that springs to mind.

If I refused to work it'll be hitting me in the paycheck straight away!

I just hope VVD puts his toys back in the pram and gives us one more season as was promised. Only then we he redeem himself.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Jun 2017 09:01:31
Totally agree again. VVD has been a great servant in his short time and just read that John Aldridge is saying he should go on strike. Liverpool have previous for this behavior and should be reported again. Yes I do believe VVD will leave us but under OUR terms only.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jun 2017 12:10:09
Apparently VVD has previous on the strike front. Refused to play for Celtic against Dundee as in true Lovren style, 'had his head turned' after an offer came in for him.

The way we go about our business it wouldn't surprise me if the papers have got it wrong and someone not mentioned before is appointed.
Hopefully will be resolved soon. I do trust the board though and am sure the appointment will be best for the club.

Ed? If we were to sign a new coach does this mean the lander deal is dead in the water again?

{Ed002's Note - Not at all.}

20 Jun 2017 21:12:53
Erm? Interesting I thought that Lander would want thier own man in charge of the team? Cheers ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jun 2017 07:36:58
I'd have thought that for a start Lander would trust the way a manager has been selected over the last few years and let that process continue. Also I'm sure they would be fully aware that getting someone in early is a high priority so that they can bed in and get a full pre season in place. Failure to do that will impact the new season, cost points and therefore cost them.
This deal could be completed soon but just as likely to drag on for a month or two,

The Black Box will decide whom who is manager.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jun 2017 12:22:26
I don't think we are that clever bjrad and I don't think that our black box is either.

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Jun 2017 12:37:12
jof33 and what leads you to doubt us so much? As far as I can see we've been run as well as any club in England over the past 5 years or so. But hey, on football manager you had us in the champions league so it must be that easy right?

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jun 2017 18:02:43
I doubt the manager will be a name that none of the press or social media have mentioned and if the Black Box was all that, wouldn't it have pointed out to Les, Puel's philosophy of possession play. Plus I can't imagine it tracking for years players such as Pied, Martina and Clasie for example and I don't know why Spuds or Everton don't have one of their own now, if it's that good?

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jun 2017 19:04:44
If the black box was any good it would say buy at the start of the window not the end. In all seriousness if j rod goes wba as rumoured then we are well light up front hopefully new man will fancy a target man as a plan b having watch wood recently would like to see Gallagher given a go. Possibly promote olumola from u23s as well.
See chambers rumours doing the rounds can't see him coming back and am sure he only has a year left so 20m seems a bit steep.

we've been linked to so many managers, I was hoping that puel would be replaces asap, I do believe the take over has ruined us for this transfer window. heard that lander sports had to save up to buy us. we've also been linked with strong players but we aren't going to spend anything over £10mil and it is starting to make us look stupid we need 2 more cb and someone to replace davis as he is starting to drop in performances.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

20 Jun 2017 11:43:29
Technically the transfer window starts 1st of July. The board have set a date to hire the new manager as 29th of June. So we should have a new manager before the transfer window starts. There probably won't be any transfer rumours yet because we don't have a manager, so the media won't be feeding off them to create rumours.
We have a quality board, who always do a good job. They will spend when they feel the quality is there.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Jun 2017 11:48:26
I didn't notice Davis drop off at all, I thought he was solid as ever. I'd say his replacement is already on the team also; JWP needs to start week in week out and Hojbjerg should get better. Harrison Reed is still about also.

19 Jun 2017 13:50:22
If alderweireld is not signing a new deal why would they sell winner if he is any good. They are linked with stalking all seems a bit strange at spurs at the moment. Good players want big money but bar a few they seem reluctant to pay them. Would rather buy Gibson or the young Swansea centre back for that money.
Vierra could open up a whole new lot if options for us big name great player but is he ready can't believe we sacked without a replacement lined up.

19 Jun 2017 17:46:31
Patrick Vieira may be quite a good fit for saints but with the arsenal job up for grabs in 2 years if he does well here they'll come sniffing and he will go. We need stability with players and management so we can push on and break the top 6 monopoly then we may be able to compete in wages and NOT be a stepping stone for anyone who wants the big time.

I wanted peul to go and applaud the board for the balls to do it but I would have thought they would have had a manager lined up to step right in and get settled in before the team get back at the end of the month then they could see who they want to keep and who to move on. So come on get it done.

I agree, one of the best-attacking mids in the prem, could probably get into most teams inside of the top 6. If it wasn't for him Swansea probably would have been relegated this season.

I would have thought we would chase De Boer. Since he was quite strongly linked last year and a favourite from bookmakers for quite a while but went to Inter.
I would have thought that there are a plan and place we would have already had a replacement in place way before we sacked Puel. I wouldn't think that we are the sort of club to sack our manager with the risk of not having a new one in place. When we got rid of Atkins, Poch was announced fairly quickly if I remember correctly.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jun 2017 16:09:56
Poch was appointed before Atkins was informed tbh.

17 Jun 2017 07:29:40
I have to say I am a little disappointed that it was not a quick appointment. Surely they should have got the manager they wanted lined up before sacking Puel. I was sure it was Tushel we were after and was gutted when he ruled himself out. If the choice according to the papers is Stam, deBoer and Pelegino, I can't help thinking Puel would have been a better choice. I don't know why I am worrying as the board seem to pull it out the bag every time . Just wish it was a bit quicker!

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jun 2017 12:23:31
I wouldn't be surprised if club have a gentlemans agreement with someone but can't announce anything until all parties I. e assistant manager/ backroom staff etc are in place especially if they are foreign and need to convince family, severance for puel and his staff and negotiating with a new manager will take a long time.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jun 2017 20:47:45
I don't say this often but well done to the board they've finally looked down and saw they did actually have a pair. Twice now they stood firm against Liverpool and player power and then finally sacked peul I just hope this is the start of a tougher nastier saints that WONT be pushed around anymore nice guys finish last.
Now just get a top manager in SOON so we can start the push on to another level that we can achieve with a bit of investment and a stable team for once.

So we are back in the market for another manager!
We have enjoyed "Interesting Times" since Marcus Leibherr saved our very existence, you could even say spoiled by having Pochettino and Keoman, before that Adkins was as solid as! Clued Puel was better than average, he lost the fans by playing across the back and not getting our forwards scoring especially at home.
We will never know what another 2-3 players added to the squad might have done this year, but the damage is more that we are still likely to loss Virgil and Ryan potentially.
We never recovered from loosing Schniderlin - Alderweirald - Wanyama - Sane and even Lallan. We sold Calum Chambers and Shaw when they would have done better to stay but the £50 million that came in from them stabilised the ship! We cannot carry on in this same vein though. we have got away with it, but if you keep better on "Heads" and win three or four tosses in a row, you know it will go "Tails" sooner or later!
So with Tuchel not wanting to come (and we should be asking why) the Board have to get this void filled both quickly (so as not to suffer loss of momentum) and more importantly to hire somebody that wants a minimum of 3 years here or we risk be the PL Transit Camp, not just for good players but managers.
The Board have been strong and I'm sure they know that as Fans we want a level of stability. Still have faith but it would be good to get business done and the new Boss in place within 7 days so that the Board and He can focus on pulling all of the loose ends together.
New season only 8 weeks away!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

15 Jun 2017 21:05:54
1. Tuchel wants a team with champions league football that's the reason why
2. Puel was a bad manager 12 wins out of 38 6 points from 17th any manager would be losing his his job! We've had a lucky season cause everyone under us had a bad season he lost the players and the fans what's easier to replace?

Agree2 Disagree0

15 Jun 2017 23:22:14
its fair to say the gap between the top teams and the bottom can clearly be distinguished now. The bigger teams were all in consistent form all year and rarely dropped points to lower teams.
