If we assume the rumours about Koeman are true, who should we be looking at to replace him? De Boer seems to be the favourite but I personally think someone like Eddie Howe would be a better fit.

The Sevilla manager would be a step up but I would be happy with Eddie Howe. I would be more happy though if RK signs an extension.

The board should be asking themselves WHY does this keep happening to us and what can we do about it to stop this happening every fricking year!

Totally agree mikeysfc but it has been like this for years dating back to Gordon Strachan . I know we were in a dark place back then but the fundamental problem is the same . We are running a business at SFC and the books have to balance, Cortese caused the initial problem when Markus was still alive by spending money like water and subsequently put the club in pretty serious debt . Unfortunately the club can never have aspirations of the top 4 unless serious chunks of money are thrown at it and risks taken . It is easy for these billionaires to throw money away, just petty cash to them and if it doesn't work throw some more in . That is NEVER going to happen at SFC whilst the Leibherr dynasty is in control . Not sure, but I think I personally feel better the way we are because at least any success we get is due to good management and passion, just think it makes everybody feel more honest.

Couldn't agree more Chris. The club is being run as a business and unfortunately the top 4 spots are generally taken by clubs who don't run well as a business. Unfortunately running a club our way, although is safer in theory, as in it makes money or turns a profit, isn't exciting to support. Clubs like us can afford to spend money on big players and pay big contracts in the short term but the long term it isn't sustainable to both pay large fees and get the biggest players while continuing to run at a profit. All the time clubs are out there paying the fees and buying the players (ie man city, Chelsea, utd, Liverpool) without consideration to the financials or profit and loss, clubs like us won't ever break in. There is one exception in world football and that is arsenal, but even they have seen in recent years that they just can't do it without significant investment. If you want to win the champions league or be successful in the premier league, you need an owner who has money to spare and sees owning a club as a real life game of football manager.

One of Murat Yakin, de Boer, Howe or Emery (long shot I know) would do me.

I wouldn't want Howe anywhere near the club he's balls'ed it up everywhere else but Bournemouth so a big NO from me

Ponykeeper, he's only managed Bournemouth and Burnley - at Burnley he had family problems and got homesick.

Koeman has just used us as a steeping stone, the thing that hurts is that the only reason he would leave is money. Everton are no better than saints, I hink if he had honoured his contract until the end of next year, firstly we could accept him moving on, secondly, he should have been looking at Barcelona, possibly Arsenal and we would have wished him well.
Only when we find somebody that has affinity with Saints and that has the skill set can we hope to get continuity. i'm gutted but we are Saints. we will move sideways a bit this year, think we need Le Tissier to take his badges. maybe along with Francis Benali as his assistant. give them a 10 year contract and bring in a couple of Coaches that focus on specific skills. fitness. statistics/ analytics. and let all of the Mercenaries bugger off to crawl under stones to be with the other cockroaches.
We will survive but what a shame if its true.

Clubs don't run well as a business glaziers have milked Man U paid for all their bills tripled the value then halved it with van gal still a great investment with loads of rubbish buys. Everton on the other hand will spend loads still be crap sell there best players and get relegated with a new sodium and debt do they believe billionaires give and not loan money. Muppets 😂😂😡😡😡😡😡😡.

I love le tiss, who doesn't? But I don't think I'd be happy with him as a manager. He's a great guy don't get me wrong, but a great player doesn't make a great manager. If he did manage us, I would want to see him come up through the leagues first and gain some valuable experience. Now giggs is a different story. He hasn't managed a club as yet, but he has spent a long time as assistant to Ferguson and would have learnt some very valuable skills as a manager and would fit in well. We are local to his home town, well more local than Manchester. I can see him doing a good job and wouldn't leave for anyone else aside from UTD.

Having managers and assistant managers with no management experience whatsoever is the last thing the club needs this season (and no, 4 matches as a caretaker doesn't cut it for me. Sorry giggsy) . We are treading on thin ice with having to juggle the league with europa. We need someone who is proven to be able to handle these kinds of situations.
