It doesn't matter who we get as the manager if the club doesn't spend some decent money one at least one but preferably two decent strikers and a better goalkeeper, the striker role has been a problem for far too long and Adam Armstrong will never be the solution , it was very short sighted to let Ramsdale go just to get his wages off the books

I agree up to a point Norfolk, but I think a manager who has the conviction, leadership style and experience to convert negativity and defeatist attitude into a winning mentality would work wonders, even with the existing squad.

Sure, we have got too much dead wood which needs to be moved on, but the present team are underperforming big time.

They’ve forgotten how to play creative and attacking football. Instead, they look for the safe option.

We won at QPR thanks to two players taking on defenders and having a pop. Brilliant to see. Trouble is, it doesn’t happen often enough.

A win today, a decent managerial appointment and we can go into the mind numbing international break in a stronger position than the last one.

AA Archer even BBD scored goals when playing with and around a big strong centre forward. Buy a proper number 9, irony is Onaucha was ready made for the championship, play striker off him with Scienza and Robinson wide, Romeu and Charles central, flat back 4 . Then we would see lots of goals. Azaz and Fellows Jander Downes Fraser Aribo as subs/ replacements for injuries.

I was at the qpr game. I won’t pretend I attend every match, but i attend enough to know it was the worst Saints team I’ve seen. Nothing to suggest we have a style that we’re playing to, and therefore any individuel quality we arguably have seems to be lost in mediocrity.

Fortunately every opponent I have seen this season has been atrocious. The Stoke loss was frustrating, but i thought they were average, and they’re third. It feels like a much weaker league this year compared to the last time we were there, it’s a shame we are not taking advantage.

Do I think a better goalkeeper and striker would help? Probably. I suspect most championship teams would say the same thing. The truth is that our combined squad is under-performing.

In short, every team would ask for better players. I think we have more than enough to dominate this league. Our situation is partly a huge lack of confidence (losing breeds losing), and the wrong manager. Let’s hope we get it right this time.
