Shame we're not quick enough to reel Ranieri in. Aside from him and Jardim two of the most prospecting names fans want in to replace MH, I looked up names of managers out of contract at the moment, maybe to just entertain the idea for fans alike, seeing that MH is still at the club and therefore isn't clear if we are going to replace him, especially seeing that a new director is the main priority (Heard names bandied around from staff of Norwich, Hoffenheim, and Leicester, again, not saying that there are any substance to this) . A few names that caught my eye are:
- Ralph Hassenhutl
- Paulo Sousa
- Sinisa Mihajlovic
- Vincenzo Montella
- Peter Bosz
- Quique Flores
- Phillip Cocu
- Slavisa Jokanovic
Not saying that any of these names would realistically consider taking charge of the saints. But it just goes to show that there are still plenty of managers out there out of contract. Any names there that peak your interest Saints fans? Or did I miss out a name? Just for the heck of it. International break is killing me.

Are we all assuming the problem is with the manager. Whoever comes in would be in the same boat as MH if his hands were tied with finances etc.

Can't be purely be based on restrictions though could it? Hughes records speak for themselves. Even in a very capable stoke side, managing to splash the cash on players like Wimmer and Imbula he failed to deliver. Compared to past managers like Poch and Koeman having familiar restrictions like Hughes right now, they fared much better as well. So yes, I do think the manager is part of the problem. Partially.

Makes sense to wait until the board situation settles slightly and let the new people in charge pick their guy, or at least have a say even if RK still calls the shots ultimately. I reckon this will make them a bit more likely to stick with Hughes in the short term, or a caretaker from within if they do decide he's untenable. I actually wouldn't mind the latter.

A few on that list look good to me. I'm still a fan of Jokanovic. Cocu or Bosz would be good.

After the recent movement in backroom and boardroom staff, I can see a lot of changes in that department up until the New Year. If there is any kind of settled arrangement and plan of action by then, and considering our upcoming fixtures (I predict at best 7 points from our next 8 which includes 4 of the top 6, meaning 15 after 20 games - we had 19 at that stage last season) hopefully we can get someone lined up and ready to roll in time for the transfer window because taking ~31 points from a calendar year is unacceptable.

I wouldn’t mind someone like Flores - his experience and background reminds me of Poch and he didn’t do a bad job at Watford at all. What I would prefer though is a Pochettino-style appointment, someone we have studied and have information on who we believe will fit our style, maybe a bit out of the blue to show we still have that ‘black box’ capability, not just the guy who is most recently out of a job and has a poor PL CV. But I think those days are probably behind us now and we’d be lucky to get someone in with any ideas different from Hughes/ Moyes/ Allardyce/ Bruce etc.

Also on Hughes, looking at our squad it is certainly not player for player in the bottom 3 squads in the league - I was pleased with our transfers in the summer, though maybe not as many outgoings as I and hoped. I’d hope that we could find 7 wins in the second half of the season under fresh eyes and go again next year, else I think it could be a while until we get to see the use of VAR and may have a lot more derbies with Pompey than we would have hoped for 3 years ago ;)

He didn't rotate that much during Leicester's title winning season.

Some interesting names put forward. re our probable coach/ manager replacement. Slavisa Jokanovic& David Wagner are. the most realistic appointments (in the current circumstances ) and both are still very much an upgrade on our present status. Both their teams (past/ present) play good premiership football and are more than capable of achieving better results with the right tools ( you can’t make a silk purse out of a sows ear! . Believe the Fulham team is already set up to improve. Since watching Derby County perform of late perhaps Frank Lampard would also be a candidate consideration. Keep On Marching!

er is Jokavonic going to sort the defence out?
Might make them score but.

Jokavonic - If Saints score more than they concede each time - who cares? ( difficult to repair all of the damage in one foul swoop ) - however perhaps he could tie the bootlaces together. of Hoedt and Cedric to prevent them becoming our top scorers! ( and that’s providing he was to select them both.!
Keep On Marching!

As it’s been a subdued fortnight here is a suggested team to face Fulham fc REGARDLESS of. Suspensions / injuries (. open to. criticism/ opinion)!
McCarthy Yoshida ( capt) Bednarek Stephens Targett Lemina Hojsberg Armstrong Gabbiadini. Gallagher Elyounoussi (Ings) If 100% fit?
Subs- Gunn Cedric JWP Vestergaard Romeu Redmond Obafemi. ( assuming Physios/ surgeons working on Ings Austin and Long at present)! Here’s hoping for a win at the week-end!
Keep On Marching!
