Solution - fill a carrier bag half full with cash, drive to Fleet Services for a clandestine meet with Big Sam and promise the other half if we stay up.

We do not need another untested and untried wannabe PL manager, nor do we need one who has tried and failed.

Call big Sam, stroke his ego and put him on a short term contract to end of season. That is less risky than the list of likely applicants the Board have come up with.

Then cast our net wider at end of season.

100% agree with this.
If Big Sam did well enough i'd be happy for him to stay.
don't know what the obsession with taking chances on failures.
