Hi Ed's,

Any update on the following players:

Max Cornet
Mattias Svanberg
Sasa Kalajdzic
Neco Williams
Chris Richards
Emmanuel Dennis
Lewis o'brien

All been linked with saints this summer, anything you know would be great.
Thanks as always for sharing your knowledge

Sam

{Ed002's Note - Maxwel Cornet (LW/F) Spurs were interested in using Cornet as a left wing back - something Antonio Conte has regularly done successfully in the past. He is one of three options identified to replace Reguilon but Perisic will move instead. There will be interest from elsewhere, including Newcastle, and a fixed fee of €20M will bring interest from France.
Mattias Svanberg (CM) Milan and Inter are considering an offer but Conte would like him at Spurs and Southampton offer him a place as a starter.
Sasa Kalajdzic (S) Stuttgart will push for him to sign a new contract. Agent has offered him to Roma and Spurs - as they did last summer to Chelsea and Crystal Palace. Bayern Munich are keen on the player but have a preferred target. The same is true of Borussia Dortmund.
Neco Williams (RB) Interest has been shown by Fulham and it is clear that he has not clear future path at Liverpool and wants to move on. As long as the price asked is reasonable then perhaps the summer will see him move on. Southampton opted for another last summer and whist Burnley has shown interest the player will be looking out for other options now relegated. Nottingham Forest offer a wildcard option. Price again will be everything and if not over-priced he should get a move.
Emmanuel Dennis (S) He only joined recently and they would not be looking to sell as they regroup in the Championship. Caught by the West Ham scattergun - not the solution. Everton may show an interest.
Lewis O'Brien (CM) Leeds and West Ham have spoken with his agent.
Chris Richards (CB/RB) A number of sides, including Southampton, Leeds and Crystal Palace scouted at him whilst on loan at Hoffenheim. Crystal Palace have discussed a transfer with his agent but remain concerned he may not obtain a Work Permit.

Cheers Ed002 much appreciated. Doesn’t sound like we’re close with any of these then? Most disappointed with cornet and o’brien as I feel like they would instantly improve our side and really are not that much money. Do both have release clauses? Swear “the athletic” reported that they did? Sam

{Ed002's Note - It is very unusual to have release clauses in England.}

Hi Ed’s any news on any incomings or outgoings for the saints in this January transfer window? The only thing I’ve heard so far is LB Brandon Williams and LW Demarai Gray. any truth to these two? Cheers as always. Sam.

{Ed002's Note - I cannot answer on the timings but don't expect much in January. There has been interest in:
Brandon Williams (LB) a loan consideration.
Joey Veerman (CM) Southampton may approach Heerenveen again to see if an agreement can be reached.
Demarai Gray (RW) not a CA pick but there might be a real push for him from Everton and Southampton could look to a deal.
In terms of departures:
Yan Valery (RB) Jonathan Barnett would like to see him move on to kick start his career.
Southampton also need to deal with the contracts running out in the summer or cut the players lose:
Harry Lewis (G)
Ryan Bertrand (LB)
Sam McQueen (LB)
Theo Walcott (RW)

Extending Bertrand for another year and bringing in Williams permanently in summer I think would be decent business, I can see KWP and Williams being a great young English full back pairing who we can make superb money on in a few years.

I’d also love Theo to stay, he’s been awesome for us and Everton don’t need him and he doesn’t want to play for them. Gray would make sense on a free, gives us options and he’s the kind of player we normally improve and can make a profit on.

Veerman as a JWP backup would also be a good piece of business, but for once I don’t think major changes are needed.

Agree on the options stated and the reasoning. Wouldn't it be amazing though if we got a new owner who wanted to build instead of continually strip for profit. Similar to what's happening at Leicester and to a lesser extent, Villa. We have the manager, just need the right owner.
