I thought that we were poor tonight. Maybe injuries/ suspensions have caught up with us.

There was only one thing, but a VERY big thing! Wrong with our game tonight. You can not play the high line pressing game if your defence doesn’t pass accurately. Our normal back four, play through and over the press of the opponents. That results in the opponent backing off from a too higher press because they know Saints will beat it. Vestergard is a master of this, spraying the ball around at will. Our usual back line absolutely know the drill, so Saints can play high with no fear because they know they will get the ball. Last night you saw our defence trying to dribble through a high press and even worse, pass to their high press! And they knew it! Second half they were sat high just waiting for our mistakes . Stephens was awful! Hesitant, poor passing . and they just lapped up our mistakes. Ralph should have shouted ‘stop F**** around with the ball’ . if defence can’t pass you can’t play the high press!

Agreed about the defence but the forwards just aren't firing. Not sure what's happened with Walcott but passing is off as is his shooting. I think fatigue is a factor and we do need to get players back to fitness.
One final question. why so many muscle problems?, and through training.

No matter how much you train, do leg strengthening, the bottom line is, that muscles and joints have limits to their movement/ stretch. ACL is a classic; look up the structure of the knee, amazed more players don’t suffer ACL problems (I’m two knee ops down so did lots of reading on it) as for muscles . it’s that stretch for a ball, that stretch for a tackle . takes the muscles beyond their working range.
