Great first half performance today but second half showed that we are still vulnerable against a strong attacking side, Ralph seemed slow to react to United's changes although with the injuries we have I am not sure what he could have changed maybe bringing Stephens on to bolster the defence, also I can't see what long brings to the team would prefer to see smallbone or one of our other youngsters given a run.

With regards to Long, I used to be a fan, but like you I can’t see what he brings to the team anymore. As for the second half, I watched their goals over and over again. Poor marking and poor tracking of man.
This shows what a very sharp and clever player can do. He anticipated very well and we were caught ball watching. But onwards and upwards, it’s not every day you play against someone with his goal scoring stats!

Totalling agree Hopi back to winning ways next week, also a good looking cup draw it would be great to have a decent cup run this season.

Long seemed to throw his toys out of the pram when he wasn’t picked ahead of Che and now Walcott, I think he’s probably feeling unfairly treated but after 50+ sub appearances without a goal and nothing apart from a record breaking goal in the last couple years, I’d rather we brought on younger lads if any.

Redmond, Diallo and Djenepo/ Walcott off the bench in a fully fit squad, or a youth player if we’re in a strong position, is fine but injuries do show our susceptibility of squad depth.

Also, where on earth is Salisu!? Been over three months, not even featuring in the U21s where Diallo is at least getting minutes in a Saints side to learn and grow. Not sure what’s going on there.

Regarding Sunday, even at 2-0 we didn’t look great, we were just playing a sloppy United side who with Cavani found their attacking mojo. Shame, but expected. To not play great and nearly take something off a top six side is no mean feat. Hopefully when we reach our peak once more most sides will be there for the taking.

Brighton away, Sheff Utd at home and Arsenal away next 3 before our fixtures take a bit of a turn. Hopefully Danny will be back soon but I don’t see any reason do be accepting defeat in these 3, 5-6 points would do lovely and cement our top half hopes heading into the busy season.
