How 24 months can change things in the EPL . Over the last two seasons we were all hoping the teams at the bottom would beat the top 6 to give us a good chance of European qualification. This season, especially now I am watching Man Utd / Leicester and wanting Man Utd to win 😳. The only silver lining is that if by some miracle we win the EFL Cup we will be back in Europe and hopefully survive relegation.

I think then the club may get a wake up call and will give some serious thought to improving the squad in all areas especially defence and not just live on the crest of the wave caused by our success from the previous two seasons.

I don't want Europe. Yes great to win the cup if we can but we just haven't got the squad to compete in Europe.

Agree we don't have the squad but I do want Europe to help attract the right players.

I think there is a very good deal about to be announced to bring in Lander Sports as a shareholder and investor into the club.

While this takes place the club is not going to make any radical moves.

I think there is a decent shout that VVD will stay for at least one more season - he is 26 and will be Captain of a Prem League team, that quite an achievement and honour.

Also on the pitch i think that Gabbiadini looked immediately right for the Prem. I didn't go to the game but the Sky Highlights showed a couple of unlucky deflections made the goals for WH - we were not outplayed in any way - its just the way it rolls sometimes in football.

If the Lander Sports deal is landed by March / April - then the club can do some serious planning for next season - Austin back, VVD in place for another year, one more defensive midfielder + centre back and we should be fine.

Fu2
From what I read the deadline passed
And the 200 mill wasn't accepted
Kath had valued at 280 million
They offered 80 million short
Also they refused to take the players value under the evaluation.

Yes, i see that now - thanks for the update - yes i read that the players' valuation as assets can not be included in Chinese business accounts - which may have affected the valuation because I suppose Lander would pass cash one way then get a whole load of sheds in Marchwood and Southampton docks to put on their balance sheet and no players valuation included - they would pay say £60m and get assets of say £6 million so their debt / asset ratios look horrible.

FU2 VVD will be gone in the summer. I'd be shocked if he stays.

If the Chinese did invest they would want some input on board decisions and I can't see les wanting that.

Yes I agree VVD, is too good to stay for long. But a final year as a prem league captain will look very good on his CV when one of the super league clubs come for him.
