This Chinese deal could be the worst thing in Saints history. Anything that takes this long to organise is not going to end well. We escaped that lot who destroyed Coventry but are Lander sports the chinese equivalent?

Actually that's completely wrong? Anything that takes this long means the correct procedure has been taken to ensure that the clubs best interests are at the heart of the deal! KL loves the club and must believe this is the correct deal to take the club forward. As she has previously stated she won't sell unless it is in the clubs best interest and to move us forward? Why would it be a bad thing for this process to take so long? Don't worry just trust in the club.

Out of interest, how rich is this Chinese mob compared to KL? Obviously hearing they have enough to move us forward, but what is that in good old GBP's?

Well if lander takes over the rumours are that not only premier league's proper person test was taking time but also they were trying to raise funds for the takeover. I am very naive so by no way understand or play I understand business takeovers but I feel apprehensive about . but I'm always wrong and they could be what's needed to move us onwards and upwards.

If they are trying to raise funds for a takeover, that's not great news, not great news at all. They can come in and buy the club for an amount of money, let's say £200m. They may not have that money, but in theory, they can approach the bank and ask the bank to let them borrow the money in the club to buy itself. If they look at the accounts for Southampton fc and it is making enough money to pay the debt back, then the bank will likely lend it to them. It's the same as when the Royal Bank of Scotland took over Nat west. If they don't have the funds upfront, (which I believe they do NOT) then when they take over, saints fc will be in debt up to around 180-200m on day one.

Yes I believe that's the way they plan to buy out KL so she who loves the club flies off to Switzerland with 200 million pounds and saints suddenly owe 200 million pounds and lander group get a cash cow for basically nothing. How does that benefit us there is no cash investment to buy players or pay more wages to keep our best and be able to move on to the next level we all hope we can achieve. They are interested in us now when we are getting 120 million from the PL but how interested would be if that dried up.

I think there are capital controls in China - especially for frothy investment categories such as Prem League Football Clubs. The same issue also hit the Milan takeover too. The currency controls are being slowly lifted again now that the yuan has stopped falling vs USD. So in basic terms Lander Sports couldn't get the money out of China to pay for Saints FC as their Gov has blocked many property / non strategic purchases from overseas.

But landers NTA in their balance sheet is little or nothing, in fact they may even be in debt themselves. Therefore even if there wasn't controls in place to withdraw funds fro. The Chinese economy, there aren't any funds there anyway. Saints will have a monthly commitment to repay the debt lander will need to raise, this will reduce funds in the club and affect cash flow reducing wage bills and transfer fees etc. Along with that, it will increase the gearing of the club and make them a credit risk.

Possibly a can of worms opened here and no actually news on takeover so may be a little premature. Perhaps when/ if the lander takeover happens one of the eds or someone with knowledge of lander and southampton would be able to clarify all the concerns.

{Ed002's Note - I have said nothing and don't intend to, but most of the above is wrong.}

Can I just say! Ac milans new owners also had to raise the funds in order to buy them? Yes they went for more money but that's not the point! They still had to and hey aren't doing to bad all throws who are worried need not, KL will do everything in the best interests of the club.

Makes me laugh how people think kl will only sell to right bidder, she will sell to first with the money although Lander don't appear to have it. It says it all when due to new upcoming epl regs Lander wouldn't pass fit and proper test but appear to have snunk in there or so it seems just because Kat has made a friend in the daughter. Why are we not an attractive club to buy? Why aren't there more suitors? Just have a really bad feeling.
