Very interesting news from the daily echo. Saudis looking to buy Southampton. Very conflicted about this one hand we could do a newcastle and win a major trophy since 1976. And maybe fight in the Champions League but then it's another team becoming washed with money to a degree like Man City etc. And it's nice being the underdog

Personally? I think maybe the saudi's buying southampton will not be a good move for the 'love of the game' but to see wins and us fighting for trophies probably is a good move, We haven't got much good investment in the team apart from the odd talents that we stumble across like mane and VVD etc. And our youth academy. SR haven't been amazing maybe the saudi's are the ones to get us trophy for once. Even if it means the team becomes an oil money club but looking at newcastle people were negative before they bought the club and now? Probably not as negative or no negativity against them at all. Maybe it's what the club needs to fight in the prem and win.

Controversial take but if the opportunity is there to have major investment especially from the richest, think it might be worth taking to see if we can do better and we certainly can do better than ross stewart and championship yo-yo football.

Also as a club we aren't as rich with money so failed signings hit harder for us. Like Vestergaard, BBD Paul to some extent. The saudi's could fix that probably get players that wouldn't join us before join now.

This Saudi guy buying the club isn't the same as Newcastle being purchased by the Saudi sovereign wealth fund. His net worth is about the same as Solak so it is not clear what he brings to the table. Also, he already owns Almeria and, for all the SR missteps, he has performed some epic mismanagement there. He is one of *those* meddling owners who think they know best.

I'd just as soon stick with SR.

In other words - a vanity project from a wealthy Saudi because he can.
