Would love Gallagher to get a run out on Saturday. Personally think he could've finished some of the chances we had. We're clearly lacking that target man presence of Pelle and Lambert in my opinion and he is the closest we have to that.

Centre Midfielder Mario Lemina set for a medical at Southampton tomorrow. Transfer agreed with Juventus in the region of €18 million.

1.) 05 Aug 2017 17:38:48
If this is true why, we have about 10 midfielders, a CB maybe?

2.) 05 Aug 2017 18:15:18
He'd be a class singing, wouldn be an ideal partner for Romeu. But I agree we have a lot of CM's, Hojberg is the future, maybe mean the end of Classie? As he was linked with a move anyway, maybe we could use Classie to get it Hoedt? I do rate Classie though.

Lots of papers reporting we are linked to signing Kevin Wimmer from Spurs, but won't pay the £20m asking price for him.

iiMuse

1.) 19 Jun 2017 13:02:32
And we're right not to! He cost less than 5 mill 2 years ago and he's barely played! How on earth is he now a 20 million pound player?

2.) 19 Jun 2017 13:50:22
If alderweireld is not signing a new deal why would they sell winner if he is any good. They are linked with stalking all seems a bit strange at spurs at the moment. Good players want big money but bar a few they seem reluctant to pay them. Would rather buy Gibson or the young Swansea centre back for that money.
Vierra could open up a whole new lot if options for us big name great player but is he ready can't believe we sacked without a replacement lined up.

Just read on saintsweb that the Dutch media are reporting that RK has finished his interest in Vilhena and may go after Kamohelo Mokotjo instead. He is a South African midfielder who plays for FC Twente and used to play for Feyenoord.

I've also heard this, but also heard he might have trouble getting a work permit.

I would love us to sign Jamie Vardy in the summer. Been brilliant for Leicester this season

iiMuse

1.) 03 May 2015 20:14:45
A lower league-quality forward who runs around a lot and rarely scores - didn't Saints already break the bank to sign one of those last summer?

2.) 03 May 2015 21:04:09
Pelle's got 11 goals this season, after 15 games without scoring he's 'rubbish'. Vardy scores 4 all season and goes 23 games without scoring and he's been 'amazing'.

3.) 03 May 2015 22:36:22
agree with Saintysaintsaint, he's scored some crucial goals for Leicester but he's pretty much a younger shane long, we need goals and he only has 4, much prefer Austin

4.) 04 May 2015 08:37:11
As above think he meant Long not Pele

5.) 04 May 2015 16:11:54
Point of order to qwertyell that Long is primarily an out and striker and is dangerous when played in that position. Koeman for some reason plays him out wide - his speed would be better going through the middle. With Rodrigues getting fitter and stronger and young Gallagher (who looks a good prospect) do we keep Pelle and Long and if we do then we have a strong attack to choose from. Apparently the Molde goalkeeper is on our radar with a cheap buy out clause could be a good bit of business. Late congratulations to AFC Bournemouth who will be a welcome South Coast Derby. They need to up the attendance as soon as possible. Another test for us next with an away visit to Leicester but I still fancy our chances. COYR's

6.) 04 May 2015 16:35:02
Shane Long an out and out striker? In his entire ten-year career, he's broken double figures for the season once. In the Championship.

He's got some front calling himself a striker.

7.) 04 May 2015 17:04:14
Ask any West Brom supporter and they would have him back even though Benteke is starting to score again. Long will run all day and drag defenders all over the place creating room for others along the back line of the opposing team. Yes he hasn't been a 20 plus goal scorer but his contribution makes up for this. When he has the opportunity to play through the middle his link up play with Pelle has been good.and often excellent. Still don't understand why Koeman has played Long out wide so often when we have natural wingers in the squad. Also he doesn't get enough playing time when Pelle seems to do nothing wrong. I'd love to see Long start with Pelle on the bench and see what he does. Didn't realise that Long called himself a striker enough to upset qwertyell. Perhaps qwertyell should don the red and white stripes and show Shane how's it done. Easy to ctiticise from the touch line. COYRS's

8.) 04 May 2015 19:46:01
If everyone's opinion is automatically invalid unless they're a current professional footballer, they might as well close this site down.

Let's hope West Brom would love to have Long back. After they lose Berahino in the summer, they should be able to afford the handful of buttons Long is worth to replace him.

It's not much of an endorsement for Saints' "black box" technology that someone punched their desired attributes into the machine and it came back with the answer: Shane Long. I wonder what the software's second choice was? Or even if they were a footballer. Or alive.

Should be fun to see what it comes up with to replace Scheiderlin. Karl Henry? Carlton Palmer? Maybe it'll be Shane Long again. Perhaps that's the result it comes up with for every equation.

9.) 04 May 2015 23:15:59
Seems a bit unfair qwertywell, Long works tirelessly and has played well this season, we needed another striker who was versatile enough to play as either a wide forward or a central striker and Long fits the bill, I agree I'd like to see him played up top more often as he was great against Chelsea, his link up with Mane was excellent

10.) @Paddysketch 1. I didn't realise that Benteke was now playing for West Brom. When did that happen?

11.) 06 May 2015 20:56:02
Sorry teejaysaintdidn I didn't mean west Brom - bit of a faux pas. Oh dear oh dear qwertyell had a bad hair day. No one said your opinion or any one else is invalid. Your criticism of Long is your right but Cynical. Long is a good honest professional and will run all day as St Sam agrees. Like I said get behind our team and moan in the pub after not during the match. Newcastle players are getting uncomfortable before and during their matches and this will do their confidence no good at all. Wouldn't want this to happen to our squad. I've followed the comments posted by qwertyell for a while now and all his comments are more negative than positive. Come on qwertyell loosen up if you are a genuine supporter like me who has followed the boys for nearly 55 years. Post something positive about Southampto F.C. Give them the praise they deserve.

If you are going to the game on Wednesday, make sure you bring your voice with you. I want to hear every stand (yes, even you Chapel) getting behind the lads. They will need it playing a very good West Ham side. COYR

Depay is a winger so wouldn't replace Cork, although I would definitely like him :) Vilhena is a linked replacement for Cork

Words cannot describe how much I would love this. Ronaldinho on the back of a Saints shirt. Thought QPR were after him ages ago and his wages may be loads but we would get loads of publicity and his skills and experience :)

Very much agreed. On the same topic, they brought the guy on in the 86th minute of the second leg where Celtic were 6-1 down on aggregate. Did it really make any difference at all?

Billy Sharp i'm guessing. Samrich, I believe he should stay for 1 year to try and prove himself in the prem. Possibly the nicest player ever though (with Lambert)

Just been watching a load of YouTube clips. He looks very useful to me but I think RK needs to decide if he wants a CB who will join the attack and solo run at every given opportunity. Reminds me of Kompany

Forster is a young International GK. Van Dijk is also very handy at the back. Tbh if we get Rojo we may not need him but i'm worried of facing Liverpool with Hooiveld or Yoshida. Van Dijk outclasses them by a country mile
