Following from previous posts discussing Puels position and wether he will stay or go.

If he goes who would you like to see come in and why?

My personally think he should stay but my choice would be Marco Silva. Has worked wonders with Hull, his Olympiacos and Sporting teams always played good quality attacking football.

I agree! Marco Silva reminds me of Pochettino, and his style of play will definitely get the fans back onside. I'd also consider David Wagner at Huddersfield - He;s done a great job there and having spent time at Borussia Dortmund beforehand, he comes from good stock ;-)

2.) 12 May 2017 09:08:16
The Express is linking him to us today. I'm all for that.

3.) 12 May 2017 09:15:09
My pick would be Mick McCarthy.

4.) 12 May 2017 09:28:14
If, and a big if Puel leaves then how about Roger Schmidt, he is available having left Bayer.

5.) 12 May 2017 10:46:15
Ranieri?

6.) 12 May 2017 12:00:45
Who was the bloke who was fired because he wouldn't wear the Club suit? He'd do me but can't see Les admitting his failure in appointing Claude in the first place. When we lost at home to Spuds, Les was banging on about Poch having 3 years with his team and Claude only having had 6 months.

7.) 12 May 2017 15:30:56
I've just read about Raneri. I'm not keen for that. Despite him winner the Premier League I don't think he's a great suit for Southampton.

8.) 12 May 2017 17:32:35
I agree with jof33 can't see les listening to the fans until the season ticket renewals take affect and possibly a poor start to the season when he'll have a reason.

What are everyone's feelings on Fraser Forster this season, I have always felt that he is a very poor goalkeeper, for his size he doesn't command his area enough and is beaten far to often from range. This season he has been mistake prone and has a very poor save percentage. The last few years we have had one of the strongest defensive records in the league which I believe has protected him from any sort of scrutiny.

He seems to be un-droppable, I fully believe that if you swap the keepers from Sunday's final we would have won the game. I would like to see us let one or two of our 5 goalkeepers go and go after a new no1 come in this summer.

Why do you think we signed the french lad, may as well get rid of keeping coach as well cause clearly not coaching correctly or Fraser not listening, wtf was he punching the ball again after what happened in the semi.

2.) 28 Feb 2017 14:21:54
Hence a and has been a liability for a while. Apart from the odd game like arsenal he doesn't really make a tellin contribution.
His kicking is poor
His domination of the box is poor
He can't get down low quickly
He keeps getting beaten at the near post
What is going on? If he truly is in the reported 90k (I don't believe it) its shocking. He is no an under armour ambassador so doesn't look like they are ready to change him in the near future. I don't want to slate any player who plays for us but he has hidden behind a good defender for a long time till recently now the truth is coming out with injuries and transfers. I think I read he grams the worst shots on target to saves ratio for years recently in the PL.

3.) 28 Feb 2017 17:50:37
Apparently koeman wants to buy him so maybe the money grabbing person can take him off our hands hopefully.

4.) 28 Feb 2017 17:50:39
Are you being serious? All players have there ups and downs Forster kept us in loads of games the past few seasons. Stop slating on him. He will come good again, it's harsh picking out a single player to be bad. If the players ever read half the stuff the goes on here they wouldn't want to play for us.

Get behind the players and cheer their name at the ground when they're playing and they'll soon pick back up. It's ridiculous to say he's a terrible keeper. Last season he went on a run of clean sheets after coming back from an injury. He pulled off some unbelievable saves too. Stop the negativity please.

5.) 28 Feb 2017 18:33:43
We don't exactly want to be negative but you can't take away the fact the he is having a poor season and it is costing us points. You need to compare him with other keepers in the league such as jordan pickford, or tom heaton who have a better save percentage and a worse defence. If he is going to get good again he has got to buck up his ideas fast!

6.) 28 Feb 2017 19:47:12
The problem with gkers is all confidence and any mistake usually ends in a goal. If it were a period is the season or an element of his game that was below standard I would agree give him a chance. he has made some saves, but every aspect of his game has been so bad. I don't know whether it is the coaching that's making him play against how he would naturally but his punching, shotstopping, kicking and dominance is awful. I get with the height you are going to lose some mobility but you should gain dominance etc. I would be licking my lips if I were a striker because the instructions from teams will be shoot on site. if we can see it then you can be sure coaching teams and analysis teams can see it.

7.) 01 Mar 2017 16:38:41
Good keepers should be getting 8-10 points a season not the other way around.

8.) 02 Mar 2017 05:25:35
For those of you who are blaming FF for the third goal you seriously need to wake up. One of the best finishers was left unmarked with a free header a few yards from goal. Any keeper that saved it would have been more luck than judgement and luck isn't with him at the moment.
He is a great goalkeeper who is struggling at the moment. So help get his confidence back and get behind him. He was one of the key players that helped get us into Europe last year. He deserves our support now.

9.) 02 Mar 2017 06:48:38
Would love to know which games, because after the arsenal game away in which he seemed to come back a different player the next three games we had a grand total of three shots on target against us any keeper with a good cdm and back four would have good stats that's why he is being found out now, should be more demanding especially with this makeshift defence.

Southampton attempting to complete transfer for Jordy Clasie for a fee around the £7million mark. After a bid of £12million is rejected by Sevilla for Krychowiak.

Shinowski

1.) 14 Jul 2015 08:03:47
I believe we will hear about Clasie soon. Not sure that kryochiak is believable. Eds - any news on Clasie? Or any other likely new faces coming into the mix

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal has sustained interest in Sevilla's Krychowiak - but he is not the first choice and they will only return to him if they cannot get the player they are looking at. An enquiry from Southampton was rebuffed although the amount of money they suggested was well below the asking price in any case. Right now no one has made an offer for him according to Sevilla.}

Fonte to West Ham is almost done so I expect a signing is imminent.

Shinowski

1.) 20 Jan 2017 20:56:42
I don't think there's an intention to replace Fonte with a new signing.
Puel is reported to have said, we have Gardos and Stephens and I'd expect either one of these will step in for either of Maya or Virgil as they look like they're the 1st choices now
I however, would like to be proven wrong of course

2.) 20 Jan 2017 21:23:11
No ambition, repeat no ambition.

We blocked for a season with. It's schneiderlin and wants a, with varying success, Morgan came back into the team, played well and went for a big fee. victor played a full season and went for far less than we would have got the previous transfer window due to the length remaining on his contract.

Transfers can be very complex, although the overall value of the bids may well be the same the bids can be structured very differently, payment times and add ons are an obvious example.

It's just a rumour for now but I could see this happening and I do t think it would be the end of the world if it did. If we recoup the fee we paid and invest in a midfielder more suited to the diamond system ( box to box )

Fans can be fickle, I want to see Puel succeed and thinks he deserves time. I never want southampton to become a club that hires and fires managers, if anything we need a stable manager team because of the player turnover each year.

He was dealt a poor hand at the start of the season, a team that had lost its two top scorers, had issues with the team captain - which most likely had an impact on the dressing room. In reality Puel only signed 2 players, Boufal who has had an injury hit season, and Pied who was singed as a back up and has missed the majority of the year.

He does however need to adapt. There is no excuse to be playing defensive tactics in the final few games of a season when you are safe from relegation. Experiment - with players, formations, tactics etc.

At nice his team played some of the best football in the league, so I feel given time to sort out the squad and have a full pre season he could be very successful.

Fundamentally the fans don't have an issue with the finishing position in the table, we are safe in mid table and have been to a cup final. What needs to change is the style of play. It's laughable that the club feels that they can charges £40 a ticket to send fans to sleep, I feel for the fans that travelled to Liverpool last week, you couldn't pay me £40 to watch that game again.

Gabbiadini is not a traditional target man as suggested above, his strengths are his work rate, ability to play all across the front as well as his finishing. He is a player who is best facing the goal not with his back to it.

We have been looking at a few deals, sahko was an option to replace Jose but then Liverpool asked for a transfer fee. We have also been monitoring the snodgrass situation but then we heard West Ham had a bid of 3mil rejected at which point we decided that the price was too steep and outside of our financial planning, that's the problem with the January transfer window, inflated prices. Yesterday I spoke to Claude and he is as frustrated as I am, he has given me his recommendations it's now down to me to waste the entire window negotiating a loan deal for a player from the Dutch league for a position we already have adequate cover.

I honk we need a creative midfielder, hopefully Boufal has a medical tomorrow and that deal goes through. Second on the agenda should maybe be another striker? I also feel that we need a midfield destroyer, someone big and physical. Rumours are we are looking at a loan for a right back now that Pied has a long term injury. Can't see us making 4 signings though.
