Hi Ed
I read that we've spoken to Emmanuel Dennis' agent.
Do you know whether this is just his agent touting him around or if we have genuine interest?

Marcher

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any Southampton interest in him.}

1.) 26 Jul 2022 13:07:23
Thanks, like 99% of rumours then ?

2.) 27 Jul 2022 16:39:18
Apparently we are after Puki now as well LOL. Agents doing there thing, they are spreading these rumours, no way will we go for Puki and I imagine club will want north of 20 mill for Dennis so that won't happen

Lyanco is the new CB if reports are to be believed. Looks like a solid unit with decent pace, a good passer and plenty of serie A experience.
Is this true Ed or just more rumour mongering?

Marcher

{Ed002's Note - Lyanco (CB) Torino have said they have been talking with Celta Vigo and Watford about the player and that Real Betis have made a firm offer and and Southampton have asked for details. Southampton, who see him as an option to Joe Worrell, and Watford may have to confirm a Work Permit will be available.}

1.) 20 Aug 2021 16:50:06
Apparently he’s our last senior incoming this window. So an injury to a central midfielder or full back and we are screwed. And at least half a season with McCathy and Forster in goal at least, woooooop.

2.) 20 Aug 2021 21:14:38
Apparently flying in for medical with us tomorrow.

3.) 22 Aug 2021 18:37:21
David James comments on Twitter the man who was bankrupt after a career in football what a sketch twit he is sell some more stuff fishy🤣.

4.) 22 Aug 2021 19:58:36
Bruno Fernandes wants a foul ole backs him Jesus what is wrong with these people never a foul this year or last year. Ole has the two most overrated midfielders in the league in Fernandes and pogba.

I read on several sites that we've asked Chelsea about a loan for Abraham, have asked Liverpool about Origi and that Brighton have bid 27m for Nunez, who we were after a couple of years ago.
I can't see us paying enough to get Abraham or Nunez and there seem to be a few other clubs after Armstrong now.
This looks like it will go down to the wire. There aren't enough goals in this team and I don't want to see us relying on Walcott or Redmond to partner Adams. Worrying but I'm hopeful we'll get someone over the line.

1.) 05 Aug 2021 21:01:27
We could bring in Messi on a free 😁.

2.) 05 Aug 2021 23:28:09
For 29 goals in a season and at £5m, we really can’t go wrong taking a punt on Giakoumakis. Would need another striker, not that that would dent the funds too much, but I’d rather him at that price than Armstrong for £20m+.

3.) 06 Aug 2021 12:12:12
I think that Armstrong is off to Palace.

{Ed002's Note - They are one of the interested clubs and have been talking to Blackburn.}

4.) 06 Aug 2021 14:49:27
I was thinking more Kane, but he wouldn’t be guaranteed game time in front of Redmond🤣.

5.) 07 Aug 2021 02:51:18
Uruguayan 22 year old Benfica centre forward Darwin Nunez profile reads well!

6.) 07 Aug 2021 09:38:55
Nunez is a good shout but again they want £30 mil plus so can't see it happening.

7.) 07 Aug 2021 13:11:15
Hey Matt 32 Glad you agree Nunez is the business but price has to be considered with the bigger picture in mind i. e. spending extra on a proven goal scorer at ELITE level will give us much more chance of remaining in the Premier League after next season with a prospective payout of approx 130 million. We cannot expect the likes of Long and Redmond to replace a talisman and Ralph will only get one chance to spend the Gollden Egg he’s been handed. ( A further gift from a probable Vestergaard sale a good possibility) ps From what I have seen Edouard a few times who looks like a Scottish Div. B player!

Hi Ed
Now that McKennie has gone to Italy and Reed and Lemina to Fulham I'm not seeing any rumours about a midfielder to replace PEH. I like Romeu but I can't see him playing every game. Are you aware of any players Saints are tracking for this role?

Marcher

{Ed002's Note - I gave you a list of what I know.}

1.) 02 Sep 2020 16:53:42
Seems to have gone a bit quiet at St. Marys. Would have loved to have got Hinteregger but I think that Saints backed out when quoted £23M. Not sure that anyone else will be coming in so hope that we don't get too many long term injuries as I don't think we have enough quality on the bench.

23 Jan 2020 09:54:26
Various sites reporting that Leicester are interested in buying Vestergard. I find this hard to believe. Any substance to this that you're aware of Ed?

Marcher

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any approach for Vestergaard but I can say that they are after recruiting a reasonably priced centre back. They had set their heart on a younger player of which much is expected but have been knocked back in an approach - and options become thinner on the ground in January when clubs do not have replacements lined up. This would add credence to the suggestion that they are considering Vestergaard as Southampton are willing to let him go.}

1.) 24 Jan 2020 06:57:16
How about Hojbjerg to Everton rumours, Eds?

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any approach from Everton.}

2.) 24 Jan 2020 16:32:58
Thanks Ed
if only we knew what Danso was like at CB it might be a good idea if they made an offer.

3.) 25 Jan 2020 09:43:10
Now I looked at Sandi's stats when he signed and the majority of last season he played as a CDM (the Romney role) he is not a CB by any stretch of the imagination.

4.) 25 Jan 2020 13:28:53
Danso! Bloody spell check.

Our current situation shows just how shocking recruitment has been in recent years. We're stuck with average players we paid too much for like Hoedt and Carillo or others with a bad attitude like Austin and Lemina.
I would have liked to see Lemina fight for his place but if he's given up would rather see him go.
Boufal has all the skill but little end product and no consistency so he'd be better off with a mid table team in a less competitive league like France or Spain.
If these 5 are on an average wage of £50k with 3 years to run we'd only save £9m if we gave them away so I can understand the club wanting fees. it's really frustrating to see them blocking recruitment when we clearly need a CB, a back up LB and maybe a creative CM.
I'm praying for some exits in the next few weeks.

Unfortunately, this is the issue we're faced with. We've bought in these players and given them very good wages. Players like Carillo, Hoedt and Austin aren't good enough for the Premier League, so they'll have to take a massive pay cut to move elsewhere. Why would they? If they know they're not going to be playing football, they can just be half-arsed and get paid their money. This is one of the problems with modern-day football, the players have all of the say because you can bet if Austin was our best player and the top teams were in for him, he'd try to force a transfer out.

Surely, clubs should look to do something to stop this from happening, like a pay to play wage. If players play then they earn the big money if they don't have the right attitude then pay them a lower wage.

I do feel like the only rash transfer we've made over the past few seasons is Carillo, I just think that the rest haven't worked out as well.

2.) 26 Jul 2019 18:37:30
I share the frustration, the issue with pay as you play is players want security if injured or lose form, other clubs are already ahead of us on wages, so by having pay as you play we would be less appealing. I do feel for the club, 99% of us really wanted to sign a striker when Carrillo joined, but when it doesn’t work out we are not happy as we can’t make further signings with him on the books. That’s the issue with a panic buy, which I suspect he was and on advice from MP2.

For every mane, vvd etc there will be at least a couple Carrillo’s unfortunately. I do agree with you however, our scouting has declined in recent years. I am excited about this summers signings though!

Things seem to have a bit quiet on the transfer front. I'm hoping that things are happening quietly in the background (a la Bertrand) - I'd still like a CB and a pacy winger. Micah Richards for me could also cover RB plus Redmond would complete the squad for me unless Roko has any surprises to pull out of the hat with his European connectons.

Marcher

1.) 22 Aug 2014 14:49:28
Almost. TOO quiet.
in all honesty I hope you're right. bertrand took almost everyone by surprise and I hope this is the same. we are desperate for a right sided winger and a cb as our new bloke isn't going to be back for a few weeks.

15 Aug 2014 11:28:20
Every cloud has a silver lining. Pulis resigns so hopefully that will stop Corky jumping ship to Palace, sign a new contract and fight for a starting place.
One more CB and a pacy winger and I think we'll be competitive

Marcher

1.) I agree, Redmond and a proven CB would be great

2.) Go for Redmond and a CB and we are nearly there. Keep Spider!

3.) Agree too, Cork should stay, especially seeing as we have had no bids come in for him. A Winger in Redmond/Lens and CB by the end of the transfer window would be good. A cover RB too in an ideal world.

4.) Redmond is perfect for us, 1 more CB and I would even go as far as saying we've had a good window

Looks like Wolves have got Kalajdzic, Delap went to Stoke, Hudson-Odoi off to Germany and apparently Belotti, Gakpo and Ramon have all said no.
If we're getting a striker / AM it looks like it must be another under the radar job.

I think Livramento can play right and left back which would avoid the need for Djenepo to fill in at LB.
Livramento looked good in 2nd half vs Bilbao, much better than Valery who went missing a few times.

A lot of rumours flying about but probably 90%+ thin air but if any are true would love to see one or more of RLC, Diallo, Grujic, Sessegnon.
Don't rate Wilson and sadly can't see any way there is any truth in the McTominay rumour.

Thanks Ed. Doesn't sound too promising so we can only hope they're keeping a couple of good signings low key. Could be a long season without reinforcements.

Cheers Drogie
TBF you owed us a few - VVD, Mane, Lallana, Clyne, Lambert, Lovren and not forgetting that you nipped in for Coutinho when we were close to signing him - so we'll take Origi and Gomez in the summer and call it quits 😂.

Totally agree Sammie. I was impressed by Reed almost every time I saw him play last season for U21 or first team. He gets stuck in and passes better than Vic. He deserves some game time
