Any news that we are interested in Dominic Solanke?
27 Jun 2016 08:48:57
Manuel Pellegrini turned Saints down not the other way. After positive talks it was mentioned to MP that Saints would be selling Mane to Liverpool. After hearing this MP was angered and disappointed that Saints would yet again let a star player depart.
Now Expecting Claude Puel to be announced later this week.
1.) 27 Jun 2016 09:10:54
that is absolute rubbish, Pellegrini does not fit into the philosophy of the club, we have done our due diligence as any good employer would and have checked out all available options.
Unfortunately I suspect the main factor with pellegrini was that it would be unlikely he has the skill set to bring youth through to the first team from our academy and seeing as our goals are to produce 40 percent of the first team in house ultimately he was not a viable option.
Would love to know where you got this little gem of information JWP? Edd can you confirm JWP story?
{Ed001's Note - as far as I am aware, he was never approached.}
2.) 27 Jun 2016 09:35:29
thanks Edd.

Judging by the media round-up today, looks like I was onto a winner here and an agreement had already been made between Puel and Ben Arfa. :-)

Just been told Saints have been looking into Lewis Cook of Leeds.
{Ed002's Note - Bournemouth has a declared interest in Lewis Cook.}

The board have no desire to sack MP.
If this wasn't clear when we signed Carillo, its even more clear now. They clearly backed him in January signing a player who MP suggested (not the black box) and nobody else was interested in for a club record fee is beyond a joke.
This season has been truly dreadful and after this weekends result I am sure we are doomed. What makes it heartbreaking is that the board are letting it happen by not intervening.
Failed to beat at home this season.
Swansea
Wolves
Watford
Newcastle
Burnley
Leicester
Huddersfield
Crystal Palace
Brighton
Stoke
They are clearly not interested in staying up and for whatever reason (money) have no interest in what the paying fans want to see.

I actually honestly think its fear of losing and relegation that has caused this. I mentioned in another post that puel fielded a 4231 formation with 4 very attacking players away from home, then went on to make 2 attacking substitutes. granted it was against west brom but I reckon this has been bubbling away for 18 months - a couple of years. Maybe something with the takeover or something else behind the scenes but even listening to fonte, van dijk since they've left . making comments on people not knowing what was going on. I do think the club is in panic mode not knowing what to do, afraid to lose and afraid to play. how many times this season has a player played a blinder, looked like a match winner only to be benched for the next few games.

Next year I would love to see a few of our youngsters go on loan to the same club. Think this would help them devolope understanding of playing together.
Gallagher
Targett
Reed
McCarthy.
1.) 10 May 2017 12:35:09
Gallagher needs a first team chance.
If he isn't ready now I don't think we should waste another year with him out on loan.
He has proven himself this year in my view and deserves his shot next season.
2.) 10 May 2017 14:02:02
Behind Austin and Gabbiadini though. he's just starting to look like the player we thought we would do a few seasons ago before his injury. Another season out on loan getting first team football for a team not fighting for relegation in the Championship would be the best option for him.
Don't know why Reed hasn't been loaned out before as his game time is always limited and has bags of potential.
3.) 10 May 2017 18:06:57
I actually like the look of McQueen Sims and reed but and would actually rather see them in or certainly closer to the starting 11.I know McQueen has Bertrand to contend with but I think he would work reverting back to left winger and linking with Bertrand. Sims looks like he would run teams ragged and actually has a footballing brain and reed reminds me of Alan ball and Paul scholes love child. football wise and looks of course hahahahahaha.
4.) 10 May 2017 18:50:55
JWP totally agree about Reed. Should have been out on loan this season.

If Carlsberg did summer transfers. Harry Maguire and Michael Keane.
1.) 08 Feb 2017 20:55:06
Keane yes, maguire no.
2.) 09 Feb 2017 16:25:42
If Carlsberg did summer transfers: Messi, Ronaldo etc. you need to raise your standards.

Perfect Jan transfer window now would be
1) New Striker (not Gallagher back from loan)
2) Sign Schneiderlin
3) Keep VDV and Fonte
4) Get Tadic back firing with Boufal off to the ACON
5) New Striker
One can only wish.
1.) 16 Dec 2016 13:14:43
Hi,
this would be great, I don't think so though,
a proven striker is a must
and keeping the backbone of the team together
and I'd like to see Morgan back, but doubt this will happen.

Adam Blackmore has tweeted saying just whispers and no truth behind Saints and Ings.
Not a great signing anyway if it was to be true.
16 Aug 2017 16:42:32
Wesley Hoedt and Mauricio Lemos both looked at.
Also expecting a Winger/ attacking midfielder to be added before the transfer window shuts. First choice earlier in the window was Jacob Murphy who was heading to Saints before Newcastle increased there offer.
12 Jul 2017 08:42:00
Ox's wages are too high for us. He fits the rest of our transfer policy perfectly though. Young, bags of potential with high resale value. A huge shame as I think a move to us would be perfect for him. Pipe dream though unfortunately.
03 Feb 2017 09:19:07
We need both Semedo and Schar in the summer. With VVD's future in doubt in the summer we really need two first team CB to be brought in.
28 Nov 2016 11:24:52
Every team would be stupid not to be in for VVD. Top 3 CB in prem no doubt. Strong case for the best so rumours are always going to be strong. He will 100% stay at saints past this January and rumours are SFC are keen to hold tight past next summer also.
16 Jul 2018 09:58:12
if you think we spent 13m on a sub keeper and only 20m tops on a starting outfield player you are mad. Gunn is here for the future number 1 spot.
12 Jul 2017 08:39:32
he's overrated and not got a good enough attitude on and off the pitch to be considered for Saints. Why would we pay well over the odds for him?
Boufal is a excellent player, Loftus-Cheek is an unknown, would rather have any of our midfielders than him.
19 May 2017 12:14:00
Clasie is terrible and we should look to sell if anyone would take him. JWP has improved so much this season and is still only 22.
16 May 2017 09:01:52
we should of got him from Midtjylland. Looked like a good player when we played against and also v Utd. Bargain for the reported £5m.
16 May 2017 08:58:28
Grey lol his attitude is terrible not a Southampton type of player in the slightest.
