Im not itk and would never claim to be but I have been told by a source at the club that we are very much pushing for ings still. I am told this is likely to happen but could take a while.

The rumours on the keeper are true are main target is marshall after his fantastic season and is proven in the prem the stumbling block is the amount cardiff want because of this forster of celtic is 2nd choice as we are looking around the 8mill mark for a keeper to push boruc.

Clarkey Saint

1.) Both are good news, if they happen. I would like to see a few more, we are going to need 8 - 10 if we stand a chance of maintaining what we achieved last year.

2.) 07 Jul 2014 10:10:36
Saints in for 27 year old Armero from udinese. Was on loan at west ham last season left back for luke shaw replacement looks good IMO

3.) I have been told armero has been looked at but nothing concrete. Cresswell was watched for a long time but didn't persue as a dutch left back has been enquired about as Koeman has advised he would prefer this target but no name given.

4.) Got a feeling Koeman may go for Blind who can play as a defensive midfielder or left back.

5.) Clarkey saint, the rumored dutch left back that we inquired about was Jetro Williems. Would be a great signing but I wonder how this would affect Matt Targett.

6.) Jetro is just speculation not saying its not him but he had a poor season of late I believe.

My top signings would be
Alex McCarthy/Fraser Forster
Van Dijk/Caulker
Tadic
Pelle
Ings

I have it on good authority that saints where not going to sell lallana to liverpool and wasnt going to carry on negotiations as the deadline had passed.

Lallana then made a huge fuss about not being able to leave and Koeman stated that he didn't want him at the club if he didn't want to be here so approved him to leave.

I shouldn't be posting this but I hope people realise lallana is far from the respectable person people though he was. Other storys I've heard are how arrogant he is out of all the other players. When they visited the hospital he demanded xbox ones for him and the other players so they were not bored this also happened at a photoshoot. Also many players like lambert and fonte etc would spend a long time signing autographs for fans who waited though lallaba would only sign one or two and walk straight into the stadium as he "couldnt be arsed"

Im not bothered he's gone my only conerns now are will anyone else go and will the replacements be gambles or proven quality.

Clarkey Saint

1.) 27 Jun 2014 20:31:25
I also have some inside knowledge of Lallana, before he arrived in Brazil he was not pushing for a move and was quite happy at Saints. Something has happened in the last 7 days to change his mind. I cannot comment on any of the above post.

2.) 27 Jun 2014 20:48:39
Surely there must be some way we can demand the return of the player of the year award? I'm thinking some sort of West Quay 'Christmas lights spectacular' only with more torches and pitch forks. Seriously I haven't felt this put out since I got my brother to sit my driving test. And he still didn't bleedin pass.

{Ed003's Note - lmao}

3.) 27 Jun 2014 21:14:28
Likewise I cannot comment on the top post and nor would I. I had heard that he had been pushing for the move and had been unsettling people.

That aside, I wish him all the best. He has done us proud and wants to better himself. I can understand that.

4.) 27 Jun 2014 21:15:24
Sherbourne Saint, you made me genuinely lol fella

5.) 27 Jun 2014 21:57:22
whats wrong with him wanting to further his career with a big club, get over it

6.) ^Kevalle, I agree completely however like many I think it is the manner in which it occurred after all the badge kissing/ chest thumping celebrations & signing a 5year contract stating he would see out his career at Saints. It just seems a tad disrespectful & almost sticking two fingers up at us fans. I don't begrudge anyone wishing to further their career but there are better ways of going about it i. e luke shaw. I bet Danny Ings wouldn't be this disrespectful (he's from Netley you know) coyr

7.) Am I correct in that he will now still get his "loyalty" payments from the career defining 5 yr contract that he saw out a year of?! i'm a big fan but surely saints have viided that in some way. Would almost suggest the same for Shaw.

OR was that one of the reasonw for signing big long contracts, so that the club could ask for shed loads if clubs came in for them?!

8.) Reading stevo comment I knew he could go with out mentioning Danny ings have u got some sort of weird fetish about the bloke stevo??

9.) Confirms what I said previously. There was a story about Liverpool changing their interest away from Lallana because of the high price tag.

This was a tactic to unsettle the player and it clearly worked, given all the timings discussed above. And a tactic to force Southampton to reduce the fee.

Players and agents decide transfers nowadays, not clubs. Clubs can't afford to keep unhappy players

10.) That is incorrect, I think

11.) Well i'm working off scraps of info but thete is deffinatly something wrong behind the scenes.

Does anyone know what jesus had said about the reason him and mopo etc left was because KL planned to sell within two years?

Also lovren apparently said something on twitter that was quickly deleted but outraged a lot of people what was that about?

12.) 28 Jun 2014 11:46:39
like you said
something is going on behind the scene
just wish someone on the board would come out and be honest for once
but it won't happen I am very wary of what reed says now don't trust him
forestsaint

13.) 28 Jun 2014 15:18:16
wll sorry to post this
just reading todays paper
morgan schneiderlin says he has told saints he is going when he gets back from the world cup
if koeman gets 100 0000000 is that going to be enough to replace those player that have left
lovren is definetly going which makes it even worse
thats more players left saints than what have left the 3 teams that got relegated
WHY IS THAT OVER TO YOU LES REED FOR ANSWERS
forestsaint

14.) 28 Jun 2014 17:25:55
I think the problem with that statement forestsaint is 'just reading today's paper' journalists are out to make stories from nothing. No need to worry who and what we hae until the end of the transfer season. With some wise moves in the market we can replace shaw and lallana if he does leave.

15.) If it is true about Lallana ten I suggest that if he scores against us that everyone in the crowd who is a Saint should turn their back to him. Out of all the players leaving I am very disappointed in him, especially after what he had said in the last year etc about wanting to stay at Saints. I would be very disappointed too if Morgan goes too, Ricky I can understand plus at his age the money we got was good business, But Lallana has left a tter tastein my mouth

16.) 28 Jun 2014 20:02:27
do you not think that shaw and lallana were got at by utd and liverpool players
i bet they were and it worked
forestsaint

17.) 28 Jun 2014 20:16:31
its been well known for weeks that morgan is leaving
its also known its to north london arsenal are favourites
forestsaint

18.) I done think there is anything "going on" behind the scenes at the club at all. In my opinion we are getting ready for the next phase. As Saints media recently stated that the funds would be reinvested for Roko to build HIS team for the coming season & years to come. Yes we may be in for a bit of a conildation season but in no way will we be relegated. With Lambert, Shaw & soon to be lallana gone we have just pulled the pants down of those clubs doing the buying. I've no doubt we will do the same with spider & lovren when the time comes. Remember, before the world cup spider was not a full international at senior level. In the space of 6 weeks his price tag has gone up insanely. In fact the increase in price may work to our advantage in pricing him out of previous clubs range? In my opinion we are learning from the lessons of last season i. e lack of squad depth & using the "self sustaining" model we are selling some key players at top price to fund the next core group of players to take us forward. Yes, next season is hardly going to be better than last but I think we are building for something bigger & better. I'm excited.

19.) Why the excitement Steve, if we uilt something bigger and better, the big clubs will just come along and do the same as they have done now. Unless this club becomes a big club then I don't see it ever changing. I cannot understand how Saints cannot become a big club, very club started small, even Manchester United etc, its lack of ambition and passion from the club and fans that holds us back, let's face it we only have 15000 season ticket holders, if the fans showed more commitment i. e double that, then maybe someone might come in and take us further, I don't see the Leibherrs doing this I'm afraid

30 May 2014 00:21:56
Hey ed002 I saw that u stopped posting on this page due to abuse i'm really sorry to hear that. i'm annoyed a few people would stoop so low when a lot of us are very greatful for your input.

Have you any news on southampton at all? Maybe top manager targets or updates on transfers. i'm expecting lambert lallana shaw to leave for silly money but are we going to be short changed by the board or could it be a very interesting summer for us.

Hope you reply any input into are bleak month would be good either way.

Clarkey Saint

{Ed002's Note - I got kicked out for mentioning Pochettino, Shaw, Lovren, Lallana and Schneiderlin wopuld be subject of decent bids. I will not give you too much as it will attract abuse. Get over the next 10 days and hopefully it will settle.}

1.) 30 May 2014 07:33:07
Disgusting behaviour from some people.

Fans have got to grip reality.

I wasn't the only person to warn this would be a turbulent summer.

Now Lambert is going to Liverpool for £4 million plus add on , increasing to £9 million eventually.

Lallana will likely leave, Shaw told the club ages ago that he wants to go (fact, live with it).

Expect interest in Chambers, Jay, Morgan Schneiderlin and Lovren as well.

Entirely likely that Southampton will receive over £100 million this summer but will spend less than half on replacements

2.) I am one that is behind Kruger. I think our club is in a terrific position. Arguably the best position we have ever been in. Why would poch want to leave? Why shaw? Spider lovren etc etc
But the more time goes on, the more I question les reed and kreugers honesty.
Something isn't right. I bet most saints fans and Liverpool fans don't understand the lambert deal.
I will just be waiting to see what "high calibre" mAnager will still want to come here, if what the papers continue to report are true. But wag are we happens, I will still be a saints fan. Just wish we could make sense of it all.
And why, if KL was interested in making slot of money fast, would she attend the games?
Abd eds, I think you need to have thicker skin, I didn't witness any abuse myself, but I think it's perfectly normal for fans going through what have happened of the past couple of months, to question some of your knowledge. Hope this all gets resolved soon so we can look forward to next season

{Ed001's Note - abuse gets deleted but we still have to read it. As for telling us to have thicker skin, perhaps you should grow up and stop defending knobheads. Ed002 does this for free and for some little turd to start giving out insults for something given to them for free is beyond idiocy to even defend like you are. Perhaps we should just none of us bother giving any input and you can insult each other as much as you like?}

3.) Ed - he doesn't speak for all of us but I honestly don't think offence was meant by this guy, just frustrated. I have some inside knowledge and tried to share but you just get grief so I understand. Rest assured most sd fans appreciate the work you guys do. I tried warning everyone last week that the club are looking to cash in on about 80 million last week so gutted yes surprised no. This is the reason NC and then MP are not here. MP was not interested in spurs initially until he understood the next part of the project. Put simply the players are furious and the proposal for going forward as some joined because of a vision that is no longer there.

{Ed001's Note - I deleted most of the grief you were given, but I understand what you are saying. I was just trying to make a point. We are trying to keep the site friendly, not filled with abuse, so that other people with information to share are not going to just keep it to themselves to avoid attracting abuse. No one should have to accept abuse and get a 'thicker skin', people just need to start trying to show some respect to others, even those they dislike.}

4.) Spot on! Well some will bury their head in the sand but the real fans who are realistic know that the statement from saints was to get as much for the stars as possible. KL view is that we can use players from the academy we hear so much about. I doubt there will be an apology however. Maybe if we say we are signing messi and ronaldo they will be pleased despite being bs

5.) 30 May 2014 12:56:28
Why would they need to apologise? It's their business, they owe £27m on transfers, and the club spends more on wages than it earns from ticket revenue.

It's a shame to see excellent players leave but hardly a surprise. You wouldn't stay in your job if you were offered more money to work in more favourable conditions.

The question is: can new players be sourced to keep the club clear of relegation next season. Until then, speculation about relegation is pointless.

6.) I was talking about an apology from the mindless persons that slate eds and others for telling them about inside info that they don't like not the owners. However as you brought it up coming out and making various promises like we did all we could to make MP stay is lying. As for the players shaw alone would be enough to cover the amount you specify. KL may own the club but surely you can see that the executable sale of lallana shaw and lamber plus potentially clyne, wanyama jayrod and others then replacing them with youth is not the forward. ESP after the we are aiming for Europe statement.

7.) 30 May 2014 05:39:35
Welcome back ed. please ignore the dickheads! Hopefully that's a hint manager be named in 10 says then :)

8.) 30 May 2014 07:46:45
Shame some people have ruined it for the rest of us. Totally understand of course we will be getting bids are players are brilliant and been underrated for some time if we accept the main concern.

No manager info atm then

9.) Lambert will be off just hope we only sell him and we get a decent fee, who coykd be his replacement ED and who's likely to be the next boss? Coyr we need to keep our players and sign some decent players soon and get a decent boss

10.) Thanks for input Ed002. Can I ask if there is anything in the Koeman rumour I just find it hard to believe.

{Ed002's Note - I understand that Koeman would be interested.}

11.) I don't know about abuse as such, ED002. I see lately there was a lot of incessant monotonous questioning from the same peanut brained people. I would like to pass on my thanks for your efforts and apologies for the grief you've suffered from the minority. I hope to see you back on here.

12.) No offence intended, but ........................

{Ed002's Note - Fine, it was clearly me. You sort it out from now on because I am not going to.}

13.) That's because "the abuse was deleted". You are unlikely to see abuse that's been deleted regardless of having a big or peanut brain. Posts are dismissed because they are spelling out the direction the club is going. Regretfully we are moving very quickly to using the academy more - as opposed to allowing the to slowly med into the first team. This does not mean no new signings but we will be underwhelmed.

14.) Clearly one of the knobheads mentioned above!

15.) Hi we need to egg koeman in the next few days Coyr get a decent manager and onky sell osvaldo snf sign 4/5 players and let's stay up

16.) You could say that's a form of abuse Greg? Above is my first ever deleted post, and by no means was abusive.

17.) A form of abuse - I assume you mean "peanut brain" which was used in reference to another post from someone else. Get a refund on your dictionary because the definition of abuse is clearly wrong

15 May 2014 16:16:27
Eds we have heard a lot about mopo leaving but do you have any insight to who southampton would look to as a replacement? Malky has been mentioned and the i'm guessing pure hope has made people link the ajax manager at the other end of the spectrum. What do you think.

Clarkey Saint

{Ed002's Note - I don't right now.}

1.) Is poch still having talks?

24 Apr 2014 17:40:03
Saints were being linked to Cheikhou Kouyate is there still an interest if not who are?

Clarkey Saint

1.) Any info eds?

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal remain interested in Kouyate after following the player last summer. Southampton were previously interested but went for Lovren.}

Just to say ed007 I have been very greatful for your input concerning southamptons interest in your players so would like to thank you for being so open and helpful.

What i'd like to ask is what are forsters strengths weaknesses and how do you think he will do in the prem what level of goalkeeper and we putting him on par with I saw you rate him more then mignolet. Who was decent before his liverhampton move.

His reaction saves in my opinion are some of the best I've seen reminded me of that mexican keeper at the world cup with some of the point blank saves he made.

Clarkey Saint

{Ed007's Note - No need to thank me and you're welcome. Forster's main weakness is he sometimes struggles to command his area and come for crosses, I've said for a couple of seasons it must be a confidence thing because he is as brave as a lion coming off his line and diving at player's feet etc, he has got progressively better season by season though so I expect he will continue to improve that part of his game. His distribution can sometimes be a bit suspect but Neil Lennon wanted him to get the ball forward as quickly as possible so any GK would be a bit hit & miss constantly hitting big punts up the park all the time.
Where Forster comes into his own is his shot-stopping, it really takes something special (or freakish) to beat him from distance, his huge frame literally fills the goal and he'll use any part of his body to try and block the ball. He also has quick reflexes and can pull off close range saves that'll have you wondering how he kept the ball out. Like Peter Schmeichel, Forster likes to stay on his feet and stay big for as long as possible before committing himself.
I've said before that if Forster had already been playing in England he would be a serious challenger to Hart for the England No.1 jersey, I'd take Forster over Hart all day long and I expect it to be a close call who is between the sticks for England at France 2016.
If Cech, De Gea are the cream of GKs in England I'd have Forster in the group just under them with Hart and possibly Krul, he's better than the likes of of Mignolet and Szczesny at Arsenal. I'm actually surprised that Arsenal didn't try and sign him.}

1.) Cheers Ed, I'm delighted we've signed him, he sounds class!

07 Aug 2014 21:14:57
Ed could you clear this up for me. Apparently feom an itk source a player had a medical today at southampton BUT will only sign if the deal for rojo doesn't take place. What I don't understand is would a player accept being a 2nd choice target surely its you either want me or not kinda deal?

Is this common?

Clarkey Saint

25 Jul 2014 23:43:58
Getting fed up now. Very slow getting the targets we have set out but seem to be selling left right and center it makes no sense at all.

Shaw - ok silly money understandable
Lallana - key player but again silly money so acceptable
Lambert - talisman but dream move so understandable
Lovren - not gone yet but not welcome back imo

That should be it no more but no now we have.

If morgan and calum chambers go I will not be happy. Please explain to me how selling key players AND future prospects will benefit us in any way. Seriously after the 4 plus osvaldo why can't we just say no.

What exactly is the point of a Mass rebuild? The ambition has gone and for me this is the breaking point sell possibly 7 important players and we have only brought in 2 unproven players with what 23 days till start of season?

Its going to take a lot of effort to prove we aren't on a downwards spiral now i'm very very angry with the board now and I've given them the benefit of the doubt for so long. When terms of we won't sell unless it benefits southampton is used lol its hilarious it really is it. i'm just struggling to understand how having over 100million in the bank which is apparently going to be reinvested into the club which I highley doubt can be chewed on by us fans and not question why.

There is something seriously wrong atm. And I want answers. I cannot be alone in this

Clarkey Saint

1.) If this chambers deal is true I may be reluctantly starting to agree with you

2.) Better not do too well this year!!!

3.) Your not alone Clarkey Saint something seriously wrong atm what surprises me is the delusion of some of the saints fans I respect any saints fan but some are really clutching at straws

4.) Hasn't it gone very quiet!not a sign of the board or new players. do you suppose they are going to surprise us?

11 Jul 2014 16:23:46
Brilliant press conference from Koeman so honest and inspiring to have him as are manager.

So I wonder what story will come out again tomorrow to ruin the reassurances after 12 hours.

Clarkey Saint

1.) 11 Jul 2014 16:44:09
Im going to sit and wait for the doom and gloom merchants to join in.

03 Jul 2014 14:25:03
I think this repeated abuse of southampton fc has finally broken my pride. It is just relentless and quite sickening what we have to read every day.

Yes we have sold players (only 3) for huge profits and i'm excited about what transfers in we may have but I wish we would just get a break from the press it is utterly relentless and tbh i'm just p***ed off now.

I love southampton fc and that will never change but to have possibly 5 key players ripped from us in 1 window is disgusting and that doesn't even include the osvaldo and possibly gaston being shipped out.

I just cannot see how this rebuilding job can be done right now we lacked depth before so if we do sell 7 players we need to bring in 10. 10 that is just stupid the evolution not revelution we had going was perfect we had a squad built together and it was solid key to the success we have had in my eyes.

No matter what I see this being a hard season for us with a rebuild and then these new players needed to adjust and gel I don't think we will get relegated but bottom half is pretty likely. how can you sell your clubs vision to new players (quality players) with so many key players gone. Hope i'm wrong as I've been positive even with the loss of lallana but this is a huge job for koeman to rebuild. If we replaced with top players like hernandez and even highly rated dutch stars like de vrij or depay but I can't see them coming here. How do you sell the club to players like that? I just struggle to see where we are heading.

trying to stay positive but it is getting hard now

Clarkey Saint

1.) Clarkey Saint I totally agree with you! It's gutting to see day after day more negativity in the press, but I guess we're an easy target right now.

The problem as I see it was the squad had such a good feel about it that when 1, 2 or even 3 players leave others know it won't be the same anymore and therefore feel there futures lie elsewhere - Maybe MoPo did too good a job of making a solid group? Anyhoo, I think we will be OK, read today that Targett will be given the chance to fill Luke Shaw's boots and with the other incoming signings mentioned I believe the quality will be there! Onwards and Upwards my brothers - COYR's!

2.) If we bring in someone like Tadic, the idea of building will be far easier to sell to Dutch league stars as he has gained an awful lot of respect in his time there showing himself to be one of the most talented players to grace the league in recent years.

The right one or two signings can revitalise the idea of the build for players at least, it's just securing the right people to grow in the first place.

3.) I understand your dismay but there is still reason to stay positive!

The Youth:
Matt Targett - a pacey & very technical left back, gifted with wonderful free kicks & accurate crosses. He looks to be a very promising new player.

Jake Hesketh - an agile, tactically aware attacking midfielder capable of scoring some great goals, his brace against the Portsmouth Youth team last season was unbelievable! (Watch their 7-0 thrashing on YouTube)

I see these two as the most promising but we still have Sims, Rowe, McQueen, Sinclair and Seager coming up this year.

Style (AKA the Southampton Way):
Even with a new manager and new tactics, the beautiful tiki taka playstyle will remain. Southampton will be playing attractive, possession based football over the next coming seasons and games will still be as entertaining as ever, losing the players doesn't mean that we lose the flair.

Improvements:
St Mary's is getting better and better! The grass is green & the pitch looks beautiful, the LED floodlights enhance our view of the game, the drainage system prevents the high volumes of water which effect our player's performance and the new training facilities are some of the best in Europe!

New signings & the future:
Who would have thought that after everything we've been through in the last few months, that we'd be linked with players like Witsel, Tadić & Kongolo?!
I know it's been tough with the loss of Adam and Luke but to me, it seems the future is still bright, Koeman will be looking to have a successful season and I haven't known him to manage one poorly yet!

So let's not be bitter about the departures but excited for the new season, the new prospects in our academy and for the start of a new era under Ronald Koeman. Who knows? A year from now we could be qualifying for Europe. We'll just have to wait and see.

Stay Cheery Saint's fans!

4.) 03 Jul 2014 18:56:21
I can understand the frustration being shown, but if players are insisting on a move then the club needs to replace them. IMO (apart from Rickie) this is down to greed, pure and simple. The players put it out that the club has gone back on its word on bonuses, yet their agents/financial advisers/players union are very quiet on the subject! I can understand a situation where the office bimbo moans she got sh***ed because the boss offered her a bonus and didn't keep his word, but this situation where there is untold financial help for the players and they still put this out stinks of smoke and mirrors to me.
None of the players who have left so far, or being talked about as the next wave, are irreplaceable. Rickie was coming to the end of his career, Adam only seems capable of putting in a 70 minute shift and Luke has masses of promise but is a few seasons away from being the finished article. Lovren-good player, but are there not players of equal quality for £20-£30m?
Replacing a number of players quickly is certainly not ideal, but the club do not have much of a choice in the matter and I think Koeman is a guy who can use the opportunity to produce the team he wants, rather than work with the one he inherited. let's give the guy a chance and see who he brings in, and how they perform-after all, we don't have a lot of choice in the matter!

Aha that explains why taider didn't sign tonight I guess. I can picture it now him poised to sign his contract then les barges in yanks the contract from him and says don't need you now sunny we are all off to las vegas with the bonuses we just got no money left for transfers toodle pip. As he runs out the door with crisp 50s flying out his back pocket.

Afraid that's not how it works in football. Why would you bid 6 if they would accept say 4.5 mill but 3. 5 was to low. That's 1.5 mill that could go on something else.

Wouldn't be overly impressed he's a raw talent needs developing he scored against us and people seem to think he's an English Robben.

Could become a decent player but wouldn't be overly shocked if he was nothing more then cover for JayRod

Greatful ed007. I like the look of van dijk as an up and coming cb and koeman is a big fan so hope he does end up here think koeman could teach him alot.

Forster has always been someone I rated him or Alex McCarthy i'd be over the moon with think Forster is further along and could push Boruc out the team as rumours are we are looking for a long term replacement.

All the best for this season

Clarkey Saint

{Ed007's Note - Van Dijk is quality, who ever signs him is getting one of the best young CB's I've seen in Scotland in years. He seems to have everything going for him as a defender plus he chips in with the occasional goal. Good luck for next season, hopefully you finish above Liverpool :)

{Ed007's Note - I think a lot will depend on the CL qualifiers, I can see them both being sold if we don't get through but if we make the group stages I think one of them could be for the off if the player really wants a move and there is a big money bid on the table. I wouldn't like to call which one though, both have their own reasons for having one eye on the exit door.
We have already signed Craig Gordon (don't even get me started on that one!) and I think that he is the contingency plan if Forster leaves. Being in Brazil with England will have just whet his appetite BUT if he knows he will be a regular in the squad he might fancy another year up here with CL football and move on next summer, that gives him a year to stake his claim for the No.1 jersey for France in 2016.
I don't think the financial side of things bothers Forster too much, he seems to have his head screwed on out and seems to worry more about his career than his wages whereas I think van Dijk (or his agent) are more money orientated going by what has been said. It's a tough one to call, Clarkey, sorry for rabbiting on there.}
