So how do you guys rate our transfer window? For me the board did their homework and bought players in positions which we needed to strengthen in and the signings more or less fit the southampton profile of relative young players with potential. Would've preferred a target man option for up top but I'd take Ings any day. When fit he could be the difference between a top 10 finish and lower midtable. Only negatives I have is the failure of getting shot of the deadwood on permanent deals and failure to find suitors for Long and Big FF, but it's not really the board's fault for that. All in all solid transfer window, spending necessary and shrewd in a couple of transfers. 8/ 10.

{Ed001's Note - if Dings stays fit you will love him. He is a cult hero at Anfield for a reason. He will press defenders to death and is a proper goalscorer. Just needs time to get back to his best after his injuries. That can take years to mentally recover from as your body adjusts itself to move differently to protect the injury, then you have to retrain it. I have seen studies that claim it can take as long as 3 years for the mental pathways to be rebuilt.}

Ed’s is absolutely spot on with his comments, Forster is a prime example of someone who is still psychologically suffering from a horrendous injury 2 years ago.

{Ed001's Note - I am not so sure that is the problem with Forster, he was crap before his injury as his footwork is the worst I have ever seen in professional football. It was the same when he was a kid at Newcastle and it has not improved throughout his career. All he has is that he is big and an intimidating presence.}

And he had Fonte and his everchanging partners in front of him as well.
Anyways. Cheers Ed001, not one Liverpool fan has said a bad thing about the lad (Ings), I hope he really comes through. Sounds like he's just a bloke who wants to enjoy his football again after a miserable 2 years and if he can rediscover that and also in effect push saints progressively forward than last season then I will be a proud saints fan. Don't worry we'll look after him well.

{Ed001's Note - Liverpool fans, in the main, love Ings mate. He has a fantastic attitude.}

Ok ed, seem to remember Koeman rating Forster as the best signing of his first season and Peul mentioning that Forster was suffering from a serious loss of confidence. 4 different England managers can’t be wrong as well? What did messi say about him? Anyway, your opinion is respected and noted but I do feel you are a little harsh on him.

{Ed001's Note - I really do not care what any of them had to say. Ray Clemence, who knows more about keeping than any of those, agreed with me, I would take his opinion on a keeper over any of those lot.}
