Really impressed by Pierre Højberg's signing, I feel like it represents a key marker for us in our recent history.

To think just about less than five years ago we had sold Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Arsenal.

Now here we are signing a young player of a similar mould, albeit he is already more established than the Ox was back then, and willing to join us from Bayern Munich of all clubs!

If we continue to bring in young, hungry players who's attitude from day one is "I want to develop my game at Southampton", we truly are going places.

Exciting times, farewell to Pelle as well, was a great stop-gap to Lambert, now it's Austin/ Long's turn to lead the line.

Not J-Rod?

Would absolutely love to see J-Rod back to his best, pre-season will tell on that but you'd have to expect Long and Austin will be picked ahead of him initially. Plus there's always the chance Puel will play him wide left where he's always looked most effective for us.

as a supporter for three seasons this is the most excited I've been about a signing. I seriously can barely believe we got him and he was so keen to come.

Why wouldn't he be keen to come? let's be fair by the time he is 24 he's going to be at a club like Liverpool, Man U or Spurs. Earning in excess of £100,000 a week! that's what Saints do for young players, the lad seemingly has sense and understands what the move here will do for his career.

PEH looks like the love child of Anders Svensson and Ruud van Nistelrooy.
