Not a rumour but more of a hope. I may be in FF land but my perfect window would be.
Start with £30mil from last season,
+£25Mil from Spiderman (I know its not ideal just realistic)
that gives £55 to play with.
Get in Alderweireld for £10m, Clasie for £12, Austin for £15 and a central player like Banega for £15.

That should give £3m left over to give Elia a contract and I think we will have a good team together.

Thoughts?

What I seen of martins indi and albeit not a great deal o personally think he ia a bit of a cart horse i'd much rather Schar/Kjaer/Richards i'd love sigurdsson and clasie in midfield with perhaps a winger like konoplianka or perisic with austin/das bost oh and a cheeky bid for schmeical

Ed002 you are probably right. With myself not being in football I am not as informed as someone like yourself on financial matters. That being said, surely the 70 odd mil we get from our position could help with things like agent fees, signing on fees and houses etc. As I mentioned, not a rumour and more of a wish list.

{Ed002's Note - You need to remember the club have significant running costs as well. It might be an apt time to explain about the cost of transfers (excluding wages). What is paid by the buying club would typically include:
(a) Transfer fee - the big number.
(b) Any levy applied by the local FA – 5% for the EPL.
(c) Tax due on the transfer fee – typically this will be VAT (at varying rates across Europe) some or all of which should be reclaimable.
(d) Agent fees – this may be to one or more agents (as an example, Liverpool have spent £25M plus VAT on agent fees over the past three years leading to this window).
(e) Tax due on the agent fees – typically this is VAT at the local rate where the agent bills from – it is not reclaimable.
(f) Intermediary fees – this may be to one or more sponging leeches (what do you mean you have a super agent?) .
(g) Tax due on the Intermediary fees – typically this is VAT at the local rate where the Intermediary bills from – it is not reclaimable.
(h) Signing on fee to the player (possibly including non-reclaimable VAT if the player is VAT registered).
(i) Legal fees.
(j) VAT on legal fees which is reclaimable.
(k) Moving/relocation costs for the player.
(l) VAT on moving/relocation costs which is reclaimable.
(m) Paying up insurance costs to the selling club (sometimes waived).

What is paid by the selling club would typically include:
(a) If the player is under 24, a Solidarity contribution paid to his previous clubs responsible for his training - this is 5% of the transfer fee received.
(b) Any monies owed to the player if he did not request a transfer – again this is 5% of the transfer fee received.
(c) Any monies owed to the player in terms of his contract (typically outstanding owed wages (not future wages) and bonuses). }

I don't think Saints will have much to spend this summer. They burned through all of last season's transfer windfall on replacements and paying off the outstanding bills from Cortese's overindulgence. That's why they couldn't sign Vilhena during the winter - they weren't able to even cobble together seven figures for him.

I expect to see a number of loans come in again, and money only spent replacing players sold for a substantial fee with cheaper alternatives.

I do understand where ed is coming from but its works both ways we sell players we sell football kits training kits merchandise including veho who now produce electronic saints merchandise we have sponsor's and not just veho, sunseeker and mercadies .kruger has made us margenally better in oversea support witch will open more sponsor's.our league position paid well tv deal paid well.gate revenue then our owner has loaned in 20mill.there is a lot more income than just tv deal and league postion.granted when u list wot needs to be paid it looks a lot but fair play rules run arcoss the board hull.sunderland.westham just to name a few pay big wages (quiet a lot bigger than we have)
Real reason we won't spend is becuase kl knows very little of football and is fully intending to put acadamy i'm our squad.if people hear Les said before season has started that debts have be squared witch will put us in a stronger postion but for what so kl buissness book says profit at the end and not lost only real money was spent becuase they had no choice with so many of our main squad departed and fans were on edge the club had to buy and luckly we had koeman in who had a good idea who to go for.we got black box lol.were in big debt lol.fans think back to when we got promotion from league one to champ to prem 2 promotions three leagues played in our squad didn't change to much till players see what was happening and jumped ship along with a manager .cortese and poch wanted to keep squad together and invest into the team to move foward kl was not intersted so they left.then they had to bring in new blood .

{Ed001's Note - the reason you won't spend is because you don't have a lot of money. Hull City have been financed by their owner. Sunderland average much bigger gates. West Ham have a decent income and the promise of the Olympic Stadium. Cortese spent too much and mortgaged the future to a large degree, now your owner is trying to sort that out to allow the club to move forward. While they said debts have been squared, it was a little disingenous, you still have to pay out towards them. Cortese left because he was pushed out the door for his overspending.}

Qwertyell that may well turn out to be the case given what Les Reed has stated recently, however the alleged reason Vilhena wasn't signed was because Feyenoord couldn't find a replacement so opted against the sale.

Personally I hope because of Platini supposedly slackening FFP this summer, Katerina may choose to inject further equity into the club, as she has previously done, so we can invest properly in the key positions all of us know need improving. If that doesn't materialise then the majority of our transfer fund will have to come from the sale of Schneiderlin.

Ed01 i'm pretty sure we where one of the few clubs that annoced that our club as a hole produced 30mill in profit on the club books if we have no money how do we annouce profit on the finacial books impossible.people who own bussiness will understand fully that u can not announce a profit at the end of the year but say were broke unless they don't won't to spend totally different kettle of fish to we have no money to spend and if the profit has been funneled out of the club then my point stands at kl is only intersted in trying to sell youth to make a profit

{Ed001's Note - I own a business, not my first business either, but I can see how a company can make a profit but still not have any money. You can make a profit and then use the money to pay down loans, for instance.}

Just makes me think how are we in so much debt to have to pay so much back
Season after season staplewood was meant to be sorted and gaston and osvaldo was meant to be sorted with the pennys gained from last season. we sold x amount of players we got x amount for league postion and x amount for tv
But for some reason there is debt still owed for wot

{Ed001's Note - Cortese was taking on debt. It must be remembered you were in the lower leagues until recently, you have to run an expensive stadium, plus the academy while down there. As Ed002 has pointed out, all the income from players sales does not go back to the club, so you were selling purely to keep on an even keel, rather than to bring in money to buy players. Now you are back in the Prem, with European competition, you can earn more from sponsorship, merchandising etc than you were just a couple of years ago. Oh and paying off Nigel Adkins and Cortese is a a few million gone on its own as well. There are lots of outgoings for a club of Southampton's size, especially running such a good academy, that does not come cheap.}

Please don't think i'm being a prick I just think our owner and board are plain and simply out for profit

Start of season we owed for gaston osvaldo and staplewood and with player sales league and tv money we were told that is wot used a lot of that
So was that club statement about money owed just to justify selling so much?

This may sound super sad but it is quite interesting learning the financial side of the football world. So eds, do you think that Southampton will be unable to afford say Alderweireld and austin this season? Is there a rough equation? Like for instance for every amount you spend there is roughly 20% we don't see in the press?

{Ed001's Note - usually there is a lot more than 20% you don't hear about, for instance when Joe Cole left Liverpool to join West Ham, he was still owed £3m. Someone like Osvaldo and Gaston will have similar amounts roughly to be paid for each year of their contract left when they leave. So if you let them go on a free, it could cost the club millions to do so, unless the player agrees a smaller pay off. Players also get a percentage of the transfer fee, 5%, unless they request a transfer, and, if you are trying to get rid of a player, that will often be paid by the selling club to make the deal happen. Which is why you will often hear of a player submitting a written transfer request in big deals, it is to remove that 5% from the equation so a deal can go through. The hidden amounts are huge, sometimes it can end up being many times the amounts mentioned in the press.}
