Hi Saints fans,

I have been feeling down about last season but am feeling a few reasons to be positive.

Exciting young players like Tino, Tella, Sulemana, Alcaraz, Ballard and Mara could really tear apart the Championship and grow into PL players, if we can keep some of them.

The likes of Armstrong, Orsic, Bree, Elynoussi, Diallo and Aribo have done a job at lower levels and will bring some experience, if they stay.

What we need is a spine of experienced war horses like we had with Fonte, Romeu, Davies, Lambert and Ings.

If we shift 10 wantaway players for 150 mil, keep hold of some talent and bring in good experienced championship players like Piroe, then I think we can make the playoffs. Betting odds have us fourth.

What does everybody else think?

Yes, actually now looking forward to seeing what the plan is.
We will lose a load of players through them wanting to stay in the prem, retiring or just good enough but we have a huge amount of talent waiting in the wings to be given their opportunity.
Tella and smallbone have proven themselves at lower level. Ballard should get an opportunity.
I think Lyanco has everything to be a great championship defender. We will need to tough games out.
Let’s see who comes in but on paper with the player losses on my post below I think we should have a decent budget to get us back in the prem straight away.

I agree. I think there are reasons to be positive.

I just hope SR are not stupid and try to sell all of Alcaraz, Sulemana, Tella and Tino or buy loads of young light weight inexperiencee players, instead of the experience we need.

I think with a front 3 of tella, alcaraz and sulemana they would blow most teams away. A formidable front 3 for even prem teams pace directness etc. We need a midfield enforcer or 2 to play alongside small one. Bree is good enough for RB but if we keep tino then he's going to be playing week in/out just leaves us needing a lb though I quite like perraud, 2 center Half's and a goalkeeper. Che, bednarek et Al can all move on happily in my books

Ryan Manning is an excellent left back, he’s out of contract and his stats in championship are superb. I’d keep Bednarek and Lyanco, add Grimes and try for Flynn Downes, try for Jake Cooper last year of contract and exactly what a championship centre back is all about. McCarthy Kwp Perraud Bella Kotchap Stephens Lavia JWP Djenepo Adams A Armstrong Onaucha likely to leave. Still a strong championship squad left.

I would like us to sign more than championship mediocrity tbh, the catalyst for our promotions from league 1 and championship were cortese signing prem quality ready players like fonte and proven 20+ every season striker in Lambert not a one off show pony and Hammond a midfield leader, romeu replaced Hammond but fonte and Lambert have never been replaced those three were leaders.
