Heard from a good source that promes has been to a couple of games in the last few games one being against Huddersfield. Sparta are happy for him to leave but would like the 30 million price tag.

fingers crossed. I have to admit, I would like to see the board put their money in the pockets on this one, as he seems like the type of player that could give our attack a real shot in the arm for the second half of the season.

He would be an incredible signing and could well double in value in a year or two if he impacts the way he could. Also good for the squad to see another quality international come in.

8 days left and still nothing. If either it both Promes and Carillion ( lol) are coming in then they are going to the wire by the looks of it. Come on get a shift on!

Would love to see Promes come in, class player. Carillo I’m not too excited about, not worth anywhere near the money Monaco are asking for and his goal scoring record is hardly incredible. Still think the board needs to be looking for another CB to help with squad depth now van Dijk has gone.

We need a cb long term but I think we have bigger needs in Jan. Stephens, Yoshida and Hoedt are decent still. More important to get at least one attacker in.

'bailey', I think Hoedt is/ was Van Dyke's long term replacement.
** Have just read Saints are trying to tie up a £50m double swoop for Quincy Promes and Guido Carrillo.
Not holding my breath, but could be the NEW Pelle and Mana combo?

I seem to recall les quite categorically that he was not a replacement for VVD, soon after we signed him.

Hoedt and Stephens starters with Maya as back up, one or two injuries and Bednarek is starting, from what I’ve seen of him so far that won’t be working very well in the Prem. Of course we need to address the situation up front however another CB is key in my opinion.

Les probably said that at the time for other reasons, considering what was going on at the time! In Hindsight, In my opinion, He was a replacement!

I'm not sure whether a new CB is needed. I think our main issue this season is that we've rotated the defence too much. It started off as Stephens and Yoshida. Then went to Hoedt and Yoshida and then we brought VVD back in. Now that he's gone I think we should just stick to the same 2 CBS. Stephens and Hoedt, and if we carry on with these defensive problems we find a new one in the summer.

Being sold down the river by Les, kat and Kruger and co,18th richest club in the world, yes the world according to reports today, sold Virgil for 75 million but still no signings, only at club to line there pockets,

There is a caveat to us being 18th 'richest' club in the world on Deloitte's top 20 list because it focuses simply on revenue generated by the club which is massively inflated at the moment in the premier league due to the current tv deal and relates to last season rather then right now - we've been subject to a takeover. It does not give a true reflection, in our case and Everton's especially on spending power which is what matters when it comes to signings. Just because you get a lot of money in, doesn't mean you necessarily generate a huge profit that can be reinvested in the first team squad. Nor do we currently have the pulling power of a regular champions league qualifier. In other words, the list is pretty limited.

We do appear in 18th place on Deloitte’s list of the top 20 richest clubs in the world, but I think the title is hugely misleading. Firstly, it only relates to each club’s standing at the end of last season and it only relates to revenue – i. e how much income the club received, not profit made or transfer funds available. Income was hugely inflated for all Premier League clubs last season due to the ridiculous TV rights deal, so unsurprisingly, there are 10 in this top 20 list. However, when you see Saints higher up the list then clubs like Napoli and Everton you begin to realise that the list isn’t really a true reflection of a club’s wealth. It doesn’t refer to actual profit, nor wealth of the club’s owners which seems to dramatically affect the club’s spending power in the transfer market. let's also not forget that Napoli, who are on course to challenge for, if not win Serie A, and offer Champions league football are going to have more pulling power than Saints. let's not go down the VVD route of expecting Liverpool to have paid us £75m in cash a few weeks ago to get their man. That isn’t how transfers work. We average 8,000 less fans per game than Everton and they charge slightly more than we do on average for a matchday ticket. They have a rather wealthy owner who is eager to splash the cash. We most certainly are not the 18th richest club in the world.

Saints should be reinforcing the squad, not long to go now before the window shuts, the club is stagnating, there is money in the bank, are the owners only in it to make money for themselves it sure seems that way.

I honestly think they are waiting to recruit a new manager
I think they anticipated us losing Sunday and are now waiting for our next defeat to justify the decision
We will only know when he loses next.

Mark 29 Figo wrote another very well reasoned and thought out post explaining the errors in your thinking, and you've just completely ignored every word of it! I find it frustrating to see, Figo must find it especially so after spending time doing that!

Ok saints 123 so your happy with the club's situation at the moment, getting 75 million for van dyke, millions TV money, there's obvious weaknesses in the squad ie only 2 fit first team strikers and Redmond's complete lack of form, the truth is if reinforcements are not brought in and with this manager we will go down.

21.) 24 Jan 2018
24 Jan 2018 12:57:26
Could I see these Bank statements that you have access to? And of course I'm not happy with the current situation - did I say anything whatsoever to suggest I am? or are you just saying that to avoid addressing the flaws in what you said?

It's been explained many times on this site by myself and others, but the VVD transfer is not as simple as us now having 75 million to go out and spend. The payments would be staggered, and from the sound of it they are quite spread out in the VVD deal and that is how we got such a huge overall amount out of them.

The truth is NOT that we will go down without signings, it is that we will go down unless we turn our form around. Signing players is one of many ways this can be done. A new manager is another one, as is simply changing approach or tweaking tactics. Anyway, all evidence suggests the board is looking to sign players, some of whom are quite high profile and expensive if the rumours are to be believed.

The frustrating part is when your initial complaint is broken down in such detail and discredited slightly, and you just remain steadfast in your views and completely ignore a very reasonable and patient post by Figo. You're entitled to continue thinking whatever you want, but if you want to do so publicly it might help to at least ackowledge all of the reasons he gave why you're mistaken.
